But it didn't come w/o c- ost; oftentimes the boys rea lly DID get hurt-Moe twisted his ankle diving out of a sce- ne after tripping & falling (Se lf Made Maids), he broke his ribs after falling off a breaka way table that Curly cut thro ugh (Pardon My Scotch), Cu rly fell down an elevator sha ft & cut his head wide open on an exposed 2x4 (3 Dumb Clucks), Moe suffered a cra- cked tooth after being slapp ed by Milton Berle during a li ve performance, Curly allege dly cut his head again while filming A Gem Of A Jam; his years of heavy drinking caus ed him to fall ill & suffer the stroke that forced him into r etirement. So the life of a St- ooge wasn't all peaches & cr eam. O should also point ou t Larry's calloused fsce after years of being repeatedly sl- apped by Moe, plus the stro kes suffered by the Stooges from repeated head bops. L- arry was also stabbed in the forehead with a quill pen tha t flew toward him on a wire, l eaving a bloody gash (Heav- enly Daze).
