Stuns'ls Sea Shanty Group
United Kingdom
Приєднався 18 лип 2018
Stuns’ls or full term Stud sail, sailing lingo for sail extensions on a tall ship for that extra bit of wind power, we came across the term in one of our earliest songs called “Old Maui” and loved it so here we are Stuns’ls sea shanty group.
A light hearted bunch that enjoys shanty singing and having fun, which becomes highly infectious with the dynamic of our group. We are mainly made up from Cornish Pilot Gig rowers from the St Austell & Mevagissey area, which in the early 1990’s reignited the singing scene with shanties & Cornish Folk songs after finishing the racing with a beer and a sing song in the hosting clubs pub.
We look to engage in all elements of public singing, and must be doing OK, as we have sung at weddings, fetes, carnivals, feasts and festivals.

Stuns'ls & The Grey Funnel Line
Sometimes it nice to slow move down a gear and sing a Folk song with plenty of harmonies, we love this local song and we hope you do too.

We popped into Beech Lodge to sing to the residents for something a little different and had a fantastic time with some A grade cake and tea. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did whilst visiting.

Oh those mighty men. Women, of course, earnt no money, just were slaves then really? Bearing children, caring for animals, veg and children. Oh, they did though didn't they, like grandmother, she baked bread at 5am every day in Tabernacle Street Truro, that her kids took and sold to the local baker, she scrubbed floors and mended clothes. I am proud to be a Cornish WOMAN.
I take it Balmaidens don't count as women then
@@TimHensman Nah those were piskies lol.
Great song ,we just had the pleasure of a lovely holiday in Newquay
Probably more English in Newquay then any other place in Cornwall.

Every single Cornish person I know and I am related to by birth ( I only have one Welsh great great grandfather = all others Cornish) do not speak Cornish, nor ever 'av. Of course they know and use the odd Cornish word or three.
