Ride through Metaire Cemetary - New Orlean's most stunning resting place
The Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans is one of the city’s most historically rich and visually stunning resting places. Originally a racetrack, it was converted into a cemetery in 1872 and is now known for its grandiose tombs and elegant mausoleums that reflect the unique blend of cultures and traditions that characterize New Orleans.
The cemetery features winding paths, towering oaks, and a variety of architectural styles, from Gothic and Egyptian Revival to Art Deco. Many of the tombs are elaborately decorated with sculptures, stained glass, and intricate ironwork. Metairie Cemetery is the final resting place of numerous prominent figures, including Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard, who played a significant role in the Civil War, and Tom Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans sports teams.
Among the most famous tombs is the Moriarty tomb, known for its striking pyramid shape and Egyptian motifs. Another notable tomb is that of the Louisiana Division of the Army of Tennessee, topped with a statue of a Confederate soldier. The beautiful architecture along the river is breathtaking, and it's fascinating to think about the history, especially knowing there was a fire before these iconic buildings were constructed - kind of reminds me of the Chicago fire and how it shaped the city. I have to say, seeing cars drive on the opposite side of the road would definitely throw me for a loop if I were there. Taking a tour on the river must be an incredible way to see the sights. Great video - really captured the essence and beauty of London!

Wow, the park at the beginning is gorgeous! Loving the water and dock area. It looks like such a peaceful walk with an awesome view. And the architecture of the houses? So cool! The tree-lined paths and palm trees are stunning too - feels like a scene from a movie! Super Instagram-worthy. Also, really liked the extra info you added at the bottom of the video. Great job!
