Simon & Garfunkel - Sound Of Silence | Acoustic cover by Frank & Petros
Frank came by the studio one more time so we had to do another cover!!!
This time we chose a “classic” by Simon & Garfunkel.
Didn’t have time to rehearse it a lot, so we decided to do a relaxed , loose cover.
This time I used two Rode NT1000 capturing guitars and vocals, through the Steinberg UR22c and on Cubase.
I really hope you’re gonna like it. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t done so yet. Means a lot!!!

Frank was at my place again this summer and I couldn’t not record his beautiful voice and guitar playing once again. “From St Kilda to King’s Cross is a beautiful song by the Australian musician Paul Kelly, released in 1985 as only single from his solo album “Post”. It was recorded on Cubase, through the Soundcraft MTK 12 Signature Mixer. The RODE NT-1000 was capturing Frank’s both guitar and v...

My take on a great Serbian song by Galija, taken from his album Karavan which was published in 1994. This cover was recorded directly on the native video app of an iPad 10th gen, using the Steinberg UR22c as an interface. The guitar was plugged directly in the interface and I used the MXL V67i microphone for the voice. Enjoy this cover and please like, share and subscribe to my channel if you l...

Another great song by Nikos Portokaloglou enters the “In my sofa” cover section. A song from his album “Ta karavia mou kaio” talking about the need that somebody has to be taken care of when they are at some difficult point in their lives. How can it be that I don't see UR44C in my inspector?
@@theunheardprophet4315 can you be a little bit more precise? I mean, do you see the interface on windows or macOS? Have you installed everything from the Steinberg site? Are you using Cubase? When you go to the studio setup can you see and choose the inputs and outputs of the interface? Are you on macOS or windows? Thank you for watching and for your question.
Kalimera Petros, ti kanis? Maybe you know this. I have the Edge Solo mic and I have iLok dongle etc. I use Studio One as my DAW. My interface is the Presonus Quantum Hd8. When I create a new track in Studio one and add the Antelope vst to my track, it does show, but I cannot select the emulation models in the pull down menu in the vst. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?
@@royvdboorn what do you mean? Is it like the pull down menu “closed” or grey, or something else is happening?
@PetrosAntoniouMusic when i click the little down error, nothing happens.
I am a whistle player do you think there is much of a difference between the condenser microphones and the dynamic microphones in sound quality? I gave my rodes nt1 to my son bought a usb mice as i had problems with my preamps but i am very disappointed the sound is totally flat and uninspiring so i just ordered a dynamic one in the hopes of eliminating the problems i had with the phantom power and noise with my set up. It's driving me crazy sadly trying to find sth. The rodes was gorgeous when i could make it all work together.
Hello dear friend. Can you be a bit more precise? Which interface are you using? I think that generally, a well positioned condenser mic will give you a better sound for your instrument. Do you need it for recording or for live stage use? If it is for stage use then, is the stage in a normal environment, or are you in front of monitors/other players/drum set next to you? I will answer to you in detail when you give me more data. Thank you for watching and for your question.
@@PetrosAntoniouMusic i record little clips for youtube on my other channel. I use a tascam preamp the one with just one microphone intake and i have a good gaming tower. I now have the dynamic microphone a beringer as i listened to a lot of sound clips and could not distinguish between the more expensive dynamics and this one. The sound now is less flat as i had a UBS microphone that was horrendously flat and listless. I may still invest in another condenser mic and try the set up again i just seem to get such noise interference as soon as i switch on the phantom power. My son said i need to use a better recording soundware so maybe that's where my problem lies. I am now looking to maybe buy the Rode M2 as a second microphone as it seems to have a slightly wider frequency range. I think that was the problem. But do you think i should look for the frequency range as my guiding decision maker? Is there much difference between the condenser and dynamics as far as sound is concerned? I'll send you a clip done on my rodes if you allow links compared to the USB recording which to my ear is just awful hence i bought a dynamic. link in next comment you may have to fetch it out of your youtube studio?

I just ordered it for use with an iPad Pro and GarageBand, and a MacBook Pro with Logic. I bought it because of its possibility to work with iOS, but I read things about high noise, so I may return it if it produces too noisy recordings.
@@PierreDybman I think that you’ll be extremely happy with your purchase. Also, with the iPad and the Ur44c you’ve got a great mobile setup that doesn’t need external power! About the noise I need to say the following. I also watched some reviews that talk about the higher noise (meaning only a little bit higher that other interfaces in this price range), but this noise comes from the mic preamps and ONLY when they are extremely pushed. What I mean is that yes, if you record 20 channels, all with a sm7b, or another microphone that needs a lot of gain from the preamps, you might listen to some noise. I have done many recordings with both the UR22c and the UR44c and never had noise problems. I don’t know why people speak only about this very small detail, when overall, this range of interfaces by Steinberg has some features that make them the best in this price range (Cubase integration, dsp chip, powered through iPad, standalone mode with eq-comp-fx etc.). Please, if you have the time, come back and tell us if you kept the interface or if you sent it back due to noise issues. Thank you for watching and commenting.

@@PauloAndreasMusic yes, I updated and it’s amazing! Thanks for commenting!
@@PetrosAntoniouMusic you're very welcome, great videos :-) I'm still on UR44 (not C) so will have to update soon.
@@PauloAndreasMusic I think that the best deal now is the ur816c that’s coming with Cubase 13pro at a very nice price.
@@PetrosAntoniouMusic Yes I been looking for past few days and been all over which one to get between Audient iD24, SSL 12+, UR44-C, UR816C. It's been doing my head in lol as well as watching Julian Krauss do his noise levels on all different interfaces and mic pre-amp noise etc. and already use Cubase 13 Pro. I think there about £489 for the UR816C in UK so they've come down in price recently
@@PauloAndreasMusicI’m still using the Cubase Artist 11 version. It’s time for me to decide whether I’ll go for the Cubase Pro 13 or change to Logic Pro since I’m using a Mac. I did one song with GarageBand recently and I enjoyed it very much and I think that logic would be working in a similar way. Still wondering……. But if I go on with Cubase, I’m for sure taking the ur816c.
Nice video, thanks for demonstrating those amps, and with such great playing and vibes. :D
Lovely sounding mics. I have a single sE1a, but want a stereo pair. Good video, thanks for sharing

Hi, after all these years, do you think this Nektar is a good keyboard? Regards.
Yes, it serves me still. I will say this again, that I'm not a keyboard player. I just play some keyboard parts in my recordings which I almost every time need to edit later. So, I'm not so demanding. But the keyboard still works and does what it did from the first day. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi. Can you monitor in mono? I cant see a mono switch on the face of the interface - maybe it is done in the software?
@@wojciechstecyszyn6040 unfortunately there is no mono button on the interface for this purpose. You can do it only through your daw. Fortunately I use the Mackinac Big Knob as I have two pairs of speakers and there is a mono button there. Thank you for watching. Greetings from Greece.

Bravo!
I presume you can use with non Cubase DAWs? How do you get the DSP effects screen on the PC? Does this appear automatically when connected to the PC via USB?
@@nitelife100 of course you can use it with other DAWs. The implementation in Cubase though is fantastic. The mixer and fx are downloaded from the Steinberg page and are programs that you can put on startup and load when your computer starts. Thank you for watching and for commenting.
NT100 will do better in a MIX, 100%
Depends what kind of mix. I like its sound in ballads and "darker" songs. I find the NT1 better for faster songs and where brightness is needed. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice sounding room you are in and i like the distance from the mics. I usually mic up a lot closer. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Of course I mic much closer too, but in this case I put them in a longer distance so as to minimize the sound difference created by their position. So, let’s say I created a triangle with a very small base (distance between the microphones) and very long sides (distance between me and the microphones). Greetings from Greece!
Ah I see. Makes total sense, although a test close up would show how their proximity effects vary and would be interesting too. Thx again.
Mislim da se sećaš mene
Cao Petros👋🏻
The NT1 catches the room sound more.
Thank you for watching and commenting. It’s great that you mention that. This is one of my first videos and maybe it’s the position of the mics that make the room more or less audible. Greetings from Greece!
Man, that is an incredible series of demonstrations of usage. Thanks.
Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much for watching and commenting. The ur-c series are not as advertised as they should be. I would buy them easily over the “red box” any day. Greetings from Greece!!!
Beautiful playing man! Play some more of these! I subscribed just for the classicality of your playing! You're definitely helping me decide closer to buying this keyboard! Cheers from the USA!
Thank you very very much for watching and commenting!!! Greetings from Greece my friend.

I came here to see the review but now I'm going to bed with the video turned on ❤❤❤❤ you played mind-blowing
Thank you sooooooo much! You can listen to this melody on one of my original songs. Greetings from Greece!
is it just me or is the nt1000 picking up some high frequency noise? Unfortunately youtube compressing the sound quality a lot, which makes it seem like the difference is minimal. Although, perhaps, it is not so significant that it can be heard on UA-cam compressed audio.
Sorry for the late answer. I can't hear anything on my monitors or headphones. The difference is very small indeed. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Auu 😮 Talenat!! Svaka čast Petros.. neverovatan osećaj i sluh imaš.. Bravo za atmosferu
You play well enough! Good work! I'm also not a keyboard player, but I have the same MIDI-keyboard and thinking about to play some songs just for fun. Is this one good for practice and improving piano skills? What do you think?
I think it's still very good for its price range and not only. I've been practicing a lot and I still don't think that I'm in the need of buying something more expensive. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Well I think other companies are investing in components and innovation so they cheap out on cases, Behringer on the other hand is majorly ripping out other brand microphones and creating cheap knockoffs, thus enabling them to provide all their heavy cases etc🤷🏻♂️ Just my thoughts, no offence
I totally understand your point, that’s why, as I say in my video, it wouldn’t bother me to pay 5-10 euros more for the other mics, if they came with a case like this. Especially for the handheld condensers. As for the quality, of course the original mic by Shure is much better, but I wouldn’t say is 7-8 times better as the price is 7-8 times higher. Thank you for watching and commenting. Greetings from Greece!
i wondering why nt1000 is even expensive than nt1 while it dosent sound full than nt1. nt1 sound more clear and full, and it let you do what you want in post process if you want to tweak it, instead ot nt1000 which start equing inside the mic to make the sound crispy. i dont like the nt1000 for that fact.
Everything you said it's true, but we all know that there are many, very expensive mics out there which are preferred because they have this "character" you're talking about. I agree that it's easier to work with the NT1, but I always like to grab my NT1000 and do some covers. I feel it more "ready" while I track. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Does not neglect the running-in of the equipment 🙂
thanks mr Petros
