Mixtile Core 3588E Review / RK3588 System-On-Module
I removed the SD card and now it doesn't boot from NVMe. I definitely selected boot to be NVMe. Any thoughts?
我也打算买一个想刷个威联通系统不知道能不能搞。我这边有个nAs机械可以完美安装这个板子。我现在使用得市威联通473a加3050显卡 显卡无法在威联通系统使用。能在虚拟机使用。我奔溃了不要了
On AetherSX2 site it is version for android. maybe it is availibility to play without box64?
Sorry out of topic..been using your armbian gaming script in git to compile box86 into my mxq rk 3228 box. The problem is can we compile box86 Wich I read is just about 12 mbyte without have to upgrade everything to already running armbian 32 bit? It took a lot of time and storage space to upgrade..thanks for your script
How long does it usually take to get full mainline support since SoC release? Because so far everything except Joshua Riek's Ubuntu sucks.
Hi. This sbc can run waydroid on touchscreen monitor connected to usb-c port? I'm pretty curious about android gaming, also steam support via box64. Is possible to run egpu on this computer? Eventually you can compare armbian with arch linux with same desktop?
Cool 👍🏻 Thanks 😊😊

!!! With the help from Khadas team I now am able to get the max frequencies. Needed to set governor to performance !!!
You need to setup the performance mode to get a higher frequency.
Added it as first comment and pinned. Will see if I can make a video when I find the time. Can't remake the video since already online.
Good little PC... but honestly? A orange pi in zero form factor with a similar performance compared to the orange pi 5 and with the power draw capped at 5W would be really, really sweet.
There are enough boards like that. Radxa zero and zero2. You can always underclock a board to only consume a certain amount. I used to clock the rk3399 to 1Ghz all cores and it conumes a lot less while still very usable. For the PineBookPro that's useful to save battery. Greetings.
@@NicoDsSBCs That is good to know... and thanks for the tip, I'll (definitely) keep it in mind. With the upcoming new RK3688 chips around the corner, that'll make things (even more) interesting than they already are.
If advertised clocks are not reachable and the manufacturer, who's very advertising will be designed to sell such a product, admits it then it is not just a pity but fraudulent behaviour that means the company cannot be trusted.
With performance governor it now is able to reach those clocks on single core tasks. Nick from Khadas mentioned it after I made the video.
Cool video Nico. The small form factor is appealing but after buying two docks/etc, I feel like the money might be better spent on a Minisforum mini pc that *can* go full turbo, even better if it has Oculink for their $100 GPU dock!
It is not for everyone. But I know people who don't "mind" paying a bit more for something like this. I could not afford it for sure. Got to send it back to Armbian now.
I glad to see mister NicoDi, good rewiev
I will never more buy Khadas Stuff... the bullshit what they made with the Khadas 2 Edge and i can not use it without m2 support oder with the cheap SD-Card support U1 ... absolute Bullshit for that i paid to much money. But one good thing, you are a very good UA-camr and i don't understand why you have not more subscirbers???
Hi. I do like my Khadas Edge2 Pro for my video editing while traveling. It's compact and works well on any power bank. But I do understand what you mean. It is missing some things to make it a good all-round sbc. For desktop use I wouldn't be happy with it. I do use the Rock5B for that and that's got everything I need for that task. Thanks, you can't force people to watch :)
so why not use native PCSX2 for Intel x86/AMD64 ?
Doesn't run well enough on arm64. Needs translation and that slows down the process.
Great material. I just purchased a used C2 to test. Maybe my friend can tell me what the game is at minute 9:23
That game is revolt. There is a arm64 version but no idea where to find it these days. The C2 still is a good SBC. You can overclock to 1.75Ghz and have it nearly as powerful as the quad-cores of these days.
hey nico do u ever do conference calls or live chats? would love to speak with you sometime
u prob need to install directx 12 thanks nico
steam has become very heavy in graphical effects, uses lots of resources then it used to
@@ningunrecords Indeed. I hate steam but many use it.
how many millimeters?
Let's overclock these little piece of technology
Is Adata as good as Sandisk
Not the cards I've got. These days I use a sandisk usb sd-reader. With those the sandisks do a lot better. But it's kinda proprietary so only those readers can reach those speeds.
Hello Mister NicoD !!! Как ты поживаешь? давно твоих роликов не выходило! Mr. NicoD, I have my eye on a new board - Radha X4, Intel N100 + Rasberry Pico Pi. Please tell me how much it costs for the second region? For me through Aliexpress it is 180 dollars
Hi. The X4 goes for 75euro here for the cheapest version without eMMC. 189dollar is a lot for this board. Can't you buy from allnet? shop.allnetchina.cn/products/radxa-x4?variant=49847921934652 I've not made many video's but will make more in the winter. Summer is always slow. Cheers.
why not regular Debian?
Because I use Armbian on all my ARM SBCs. Then it's easy and fun to have the same OS on PC too. And I hate Debian for desktop tasks. This is Ubuntu 22.04
I need help I can't install armbian defaults
Hi Nico, I like the spontaneous video that shows what you are up to! Fun video! One question, have you heard anything about RK3588 laptops? I know there'a an Alibaba/Aliexpress generic one, but heard nothing from anybody about it.
Great update! You have a few fun things happening! That is awesome! The two new boards have hit my radar as well, but I haven't pulled the trigger to get them yet. I look forward to future videos!
Hi George. The NanoPi M6 is nice since good case with display and not running too hot. The Mind is nice since x86 and quite powerful; but very expensive. I'm not sure yet if I would advice to buy the Mind. For people who go from office to home every day it is perfect. But if you don't have that task and would only use it at home then there are better devices. I still need to find out a lot more before I can make a video about it. Have a nice day!
Greetings ! I tried to install armbian for my tv box Ugoos am6 b plus , i follow every instruction except i use android app Etchdroid for burning iso to micro SD . But it won't run at all , if I use toothpick method, then android recovery menu loads , if i choose there reboot from adb or from ext it doesn't work , if i choose reboot from bootloader it shows amlogic icon and stops forever . What do I wrong or miss something ?
Perhaps your problem is in the hardware, not the software. Are you sure your power supply is adequate, and you have the proper microSD card? Because Orange Pi's (and all other Single Board Computers) can be real finicky when it comes to those 2 things. I had the same issue with my Orange Pi PC as well, tried it with a whole range of Linux OS'es, with some it worked and the Pi started up only to give fatal errors halfway into the install procedure, with some others it didn't even go past the initial start up. Turned out the 1,5A power supply was insufficient, when I tried it with a purpose sold 3A power supply my Pi worked perfectly with every out of several OS'es I tried. And I've also heard a lot that you need to make sure that your microSD is both of a high enough quality and high enough data speed, all of this is mentioned in the user manual.
@@pieterveenders9793 i used this app on my phone Xiaomi redmi 10C , so I'm 99% sure that there's isn't any problems problems with hardware and power supply . What about sd card , in the shop where you can repair pc or buy components ( usb , cables etc. ) vendors said that the problem most certainly not in micro sd ( my memory card has 32gb and speed class 10 ) , although they didn't give any tips or advices .
I wonder if it works on nintendo switch. I would love to run trackmaniaNF on ARM64 Ubuntu
Might work. You can use armbian-gaming to instal everything. But it for now only works on 22.04 Good luck
love your accent and voice❤. subscribed by the quality of content
Do you know if the Orange Pi 5 has Virtual Machine extensions on the CPU? When I load Armbian and check cpuinfo it looks like there are none
Amazing video nico, thanks a lot! I'm trying to build Armbian for a rk3588s handheld (Gameforce Ace) and I've been told I need to use the corresponding dts while building it. Could you point exactly where should I replace/modify it with the one available for the Ace? Thanks in advance.
was there not a native Aarch64 binary of Aethersx2 available? so you used Box86?
It was a brainfart that I typed box86. It's not using box86. I didn't notice during edit.
congrats
too boring, i'm just gonna type in sudo apt get install kde-plasma-desktop
👍
Congrats!
Ahoy, congrats on breaking 5K subs. I've been subbed for several years since my RPi 4B around 2020. Also, very interesting & informative video. I've been a heavey RK3399 user w/M4 and OPi 800. In July I finally plunged into the RK3588 chip. I bought a Rupa M38 which is the same as the Mekotronics R58 Mini (plastic) with 8G+64G and Android TV V12 for $116+tax at Amazon. I did a bit of work and use it daily with the WinX launcher. I was so impressed I bought a 2nd one and (following your instructive video) installed Armbian Jammy (kernel 5.10.110) and changed it to the LXDE desktop. This is the 1st ARM computer that can really be a daily driver for me. Not surprisingly the Rupa M38 mini is sold out at Amazon so I'm glad I got 2 while I could. I'm using my Win11 N5101 computers much less now. Cheers, daveyb
Hi, sorry I didn't see your comment earlier. I don't know the Rupa M38. But loved to use the meko mini. Now on rock5B but its not my favorite rk3588. OPi5+ was with metal case. There are so many, and software is evolving. I need to fix few things to be able to switch to armbian noble with kernel 6.1 for desktop. But getting there. Will make another video about my setup when done. My nas rock5ITX is there. Glad you've enjoyed all those nice boards. Got the OPi800 too. Once made a review video that I couldn't release. Here it is, no idea if data is relevant. ua-cam.com/video/0xQWrltM3CQ/v-deo.html Greetings, NicoD
When you look at the N100 power consumption, it is still low by any standard. The N100 would be my choice all day every day for versatility, power and out of the box use. Granted that the UP7000 is not the best example of implementation out there and perhaps one of the other vendors might like to send you an N100 (or maybe one of them has an N97 variant in the works) for review and benchmarking. The RK3576 was a curious addition until I saw what GPU was being used, something with actual all round driver and software support, which is why it seems to be becoming a good choice for Android TV boxes where it;s performance can really shine. But then we do have to ask why the RK3576 was needed anyway, which was due to the fact that the RK3588 has had abysmal support from Rockchip and vendors, despite them being pushed out so regularly. More than 2 years down the line and the SIC is still nowhere near fully support in either mainline or any forks. Collabora seem to be the central focus for support, where only a few days ago, work began on H.265 decoding, where work im progress is the current status. VP9 is yet to begin any work. The kernel versions that will also be required for much of the recent work will be in the form of kernel 6.8 or so, further ahead of the current 6.1 that many are now running on. Recent reports are that Vulkan support will not come until the end of 2024 at the earliest. We could well be close to, or into 3 years since release before anything concrete happens with the RK3588 and may still go the way of the lemon that is and was the RK3399. In the meantime, others will be not only catching up but exceeding what Rockchip are doing (or rather not doing), which may make it largely obsolete when maturity arrives (if it ever does). With Intel bringing along the highly popular N100, finally beginning to match the total cost of SBC costs, minds are easily swayed by something that has way more potential and is a works out of the box processor. Now that we are seeing N100 SBC's, with the GPIO etc, then things may begin to look even worse for ARM based solutions that always require more work. It is a shame that A<Logic isn't really coming to the game as we will have expected by now. If Qualcomm do decide to enter the lower end of the market with their latest SOC then they could decimate the competition overnight, despite the somewhat lukewarm response for the higher end implementations.
Really nice joke, on some SBC there is not eth port, how can magically join wifi when first step is to connect to network?
www.reddit.com/r/OrangePI/comments/1b4mko1/cant_start_armbian_in_orangepi_plus_2/ Explained here. Otherwise use uart.
@@NicoDsSBCs sorry, but again, 2nd solution is useless as /boot partition isn't recognized by windows/mac, for first solution you need serial adapter and soldered connectors, Why it cannot be configured like raspbian where /boot is just FAT?
congratz on the 5k Nico!
Merci.
Well done on the 5K.
Thank you, beer and spaghetti tonight :)
I would like to see comparison on real world speedtest between raspberry pi 5 and up7000 (like opening apps, and some basic stuff) Im really excited on N100 because I have pentium silver N5000 and found that n100 is faster than that. I so far, havent found any speedtest between them
Odroid M2 support soon?
congo on 5k
Wow you managed to review 13 SBCs in just 28 min
That's at least what I tried. All the still usable arm64 boards with all different SoC. Else I could review 13 boards with the same RK3588 and that would be boring I think :) Greetings.
oh yeah, it would be boring a lot if you review a lot of SBCs with same SoC even though there will be slight differences (i guess). Can you do a video on comparison of raspberry pi 5 and up7000 (rpi vs n100)? If you can, can you pls do it on windows? Ubuntu is okay and yeah, as far as I know, running windows for arm on Raspberry Pi 5 will be a pain. So ubuntu is okay too!
@@aanandkrishna7605 In this video I compare the Up7000 with RPi5. With Ubuntu 24.04. I'm not that interested in Windows for ARM. Might look into it again but last time it was useless.
How to get the display port working?
maybe you know a bit more about this. but is there a way to make it auto sleep/shutdown safely using the GPIO pins? i want to use it in a car. and permamently power the DC input, i just need it to shut down safely
You could write a script to sense when it needs to shut down. Can't be that hard to do. I've never needed to do this, so can't help much more.
Can you try apps for us engineers. Microsoft Office 2007 & Autocad 2008 ... it worked on wine
