Jim and Dawn
United Kingdom
Приєднався 9 гру 2011
This channel contains a record of some of our adventures over the past decade. We are Jim (James Eastwood) and Dawn (Dawn Torgersen). Our combined age is now over 150 years and we no longer have our former partners to travel with. We met through our tennis club and discovered we were soulmates in our love for country walking (especially coastal walks) and for travelling to see distant lands and other cultures.
Initially we used UA-cam to share videos with fellow travellers and friends, but it has now become a repository for our holiday videos. Our channel is non-commercial and is there primarily for our own enjoyment. We love reliving the excitement of visiting foreign places and cultures, and the feeling of wellbeing from our countryside and coastal walks. If others can experience some of these pleasures from our videos or get inspired to go travelling and hiking, then all the better. You don't have to be young to have fun!

Feel free to use any part you wish
Lovely vid, so nice to see groups walking, I bet you used 1 of your cars at the end of your walk to come back?
That is how we do it for linear walks.
One of my favourite walks in North Devon...
Its 10km, so should take you about 3 hours. Most people walk at 3-5 kph on these tracks.
How long it takes? Thanks
Thank you 🎉
Hi
It's a pleasure. Magical landscapes, so different from our favourite UK destinations.
Chiricahua National Monument is one of my favorite places in our state; it truly feels like something out of this world. Seems like your friends gave you a great taste of Southern Arizona's most beautiful places. Thank you for sharing!
Curious : Did you only walk in one direction and then take a bus back to your car/starting point or did you walk everything back again?
5 people and 2 cars. We parked one car at the other end before starting our walk.
@@JimandDawn oh okay. So not possible for a solo traveller or is there good public transport?
See the Gwynedd bus timetable.
Wow❤ so beautiful. I'm an Ireland fan but lately I have been doing some research maybe traveling to Snowdonia and Llyn, didn't know you can do so many great walks there as my walking guides only include snowdonia. Thanks for sharing!! This might convince me to try Wales. Don't know if I should do Wales (Snowdonia/Lynn) in May or county cork in Ireland. You are quite fit doing so many walks. Well done! 🎉 Also like the music for this video.
Wales or Ireland? Tough call. If you like coastol walking, there is also Pembrokeshire ( Have a look at our Wales playlist).
@@JimandDawn thanks. Pembroke is on my list for another time. I'm driving - lazy, so much driving in Ireland last year, I would like to explore the north of Wales with Snowdonia/Llyn/ Anglesey. It's close to Manchester Airport. And not too much driving., 😅😉
Enjoy, but beware that the path marked through the marshes on Haughton Common on the OS map doesn't actually exist!
Nice one! As someone who plans his own walks using OS maps, it's always nice (lazy 🤔😁) to use a tried and tested one! Cheers 👍
A fantastic video Jim. I live at Rhiw on the south coast. All the very best.
Stunning walks yes, love living here
That peninsula is very beautiful & so undelveloped it's a pleasure to see ! We spent many summer holidays camping at Dinas Dinlle further up on the Western shore south of Caernarfon - what a gorgeous long sandy beach, my kids were in heaven every year - not shown on every map, but that's a plus of course !
Thank you for a great video, my husband and me are in Tenerife at the moment and we do enjoy watching your videos while preparing for hiking, it sounds almost like a bbc documentary
Drove right to the end from Manchester a few weeks ago what a mission but worth it
Did you find the drive to Chamorga terribly frightening?
I found the drive challenging. Dawn, who was passenger, found it a bit frightening but is used to my driving....
That is what I am afraid of! We found a fantastic spot in chamorga to hike from but getting there…. Yikes 😬
The walk is worth the drive.
Very nice walk :) thank You :)
Can you do just part of the walk,as I might not manage full walk.
Jim you're my hero
Great memories - thanks for posting 😊
Spectacular footage 👍
We’ve recently discovered this area ourselves. It’s so beautiful. Looks like you had some perfect walks. 🍻
What a lovely walk that looks.
Thank you very much for sharing this memories! I find this video very useful in planning my upcoming trip.
Fantastic place. You won't be disappointed !
Lovely video Jim and Dawn. I originate from Northumberland but have lived in the Mansfield area of Nottinghamshire since the pit closures in the mid 1960's. My Dad was an electrician at Linton pit and we moved in October 1966. I still get up to Northumberland at least twice a year and I always stay in Amble or Warkworth for a week each visit. I love walking my wee Border Terrier, Bob, along the very route you have just highlighted. There are some wonderful places along that Coastal route. As children we used to walk across the fields at Linton to Cresswell beach and Druridge Bay. I always try to get to Alnmouth, Beadnell, Craster, Seahouses and Alnwick when I am up there. All lovely places to visit. Take care and all the very best for a joyous 2023. 🙏
Thanks for your comment. We agree, Northumberland is lovely.
Could you do this without MACS Adventures? I just hiked the TMB using MACS and was very happy with their service.
We have been very happy with Macs too. They made all the booking easy. We also used them for our Sicily trip (see video on ua-cam.com/users/JimandDawn).
That lighthouse is something else.
Another great adventure completed by Jim and Dawn.
Its our first overseas trip since Laos because of covid lockdown!
Wow. I have traveled to Peru, Africa, TMB and Costa Rica. No Covid ! I am hiking coast to coast in England in May and then Nepal in the Fall. I know how much you love to travel !
Looks beautiful. Think I might plan a trip myself.
The walks are lovely, but the roads are narrow and winding, so get a small car if you plan to drive and hike as we did.
we made the same walk
How blessed you are, to live in berrynarbor
Greetings from Texas. I was doing some genealogy research and the first of my ancestors to migrate to colonial Virginia in 1624 was born in Berrynarbor 1591. Your video was one of very few that covered the whole countryside view. ❤️ Berrynarbor. Beautiful place.
Very nice video Jim! As a "Dutch Capeverdian" (from Santo Antão) it is interesting to see how tourists experienced 'my' country. I hope you and your wife enjoyed your stay and returned home with a positive impression. I think that at least you had a great and peaceful view at Aldeia Manga. 😉 Thanks a lot for sharing!
Sounds like a good idea, but not just after driving four hours in the morning as we did!
A very pleasant film. Thank you for taking the time. We have a visit planned later this year. This was informative. Many thanks Sel
did you go with a tour? the whole trip i mean
Yes. It was with the Explore travel company and the trip was called "Cuba Libre".
Brilliant video guys, nice voice over and music .. superbly shot as well! We have both done a very similar walk, multiple times and are very lucky to have such a nice area on our door step! Will check out more of your trips, all the best 👍🏻
Thanks for your kind words. Our combined ages must be well over a century more than yours, but you are never too old or too young to enjoy the outdoors!
@@JimandDawn haha, never to old or to young! Correct. 👍🏻🏔
Thanks Jim, a lovely trip down memory lane for me. I love the drone footage of the castles too!
fantastic videos of your trip, just stumbled across your channel & glad i did. What beautiful walks and sights you've seen in Northumberland - we are aiming to head there next for an adventure because of the scenery. thanks for sharing, will be having a binge watch of your content :)
We had a great holiday, despite mixed weather. Hope you enjoy the other locations (e.g., N Yorks Moors, Devon, Dorset, etc.)
Jim & Dawn - Super video, with good use of the new toy (drone). Many thanks for producing this so promptly.
Amazing video. Its always great to go down memory lane
