The lawyer obviously played you... and it is going to be hard to win a case against them. It is your word vs their word since he was "scammy" enough to ensure there was no contract... it is quite unfortunate that Africans are yet to appreciate services which are intangible.... Acha watafute another editor at those measly rates they were giving you tuone kama watapata. From one creator to another, I believe you are destined for greatness. Dust yourself, and move on to the next big thing, which is building for you. Choose you....

Hey Dennis, I was waiing for the part where you'd say that "I reached out to them to ask why the adsense was disconnected and they said this..." I think you should have done that before making the video because this might be bad for their business which might eventually be bad for you in case the two options mentioned in the video do not work well. What do you think?

The Mara nomads don't seem to appreciate you, the value of your work and have been acting incredibly in Bad faith. I advice you to renegotiate with them and from now in get EVERYTHING in WRITING else you walk away from them. This will also apply to your future clients as well. You are an incredibly talented, hardworking and honest young man and trust me it will be their loss of they let you go. We appreciate your vids and are rooting for you. I am sorry you got a dishonest bad faith clients but your work and the skills you put in speak volumes about your work ethic.

If they don't increase the pay significantly, cut them off! I agree, it is a free market, but that client was really low balling you (or I guess you were naive and not aware of how much to charge for video editing). I am a video editor and all I can say is that you were charging very little. I don't understand how you can comfortably make a living out of that. That plus the amount of time you have to spend poring through hours on hours of raw footage, man you were actually giving away your effort for free. I am glad you are now aware of this and are taking the necessary steps to remedy.

Acha ata mimi nichangie hapa: Major conclusions... You got too comfortable with one major client, I guess so. You could've used that clients success to get more clients. You used a more informal way of communication. Lakini usitishwe! They probably got a guy who does it cheaper. There's always someone out there who is willing to accept less. Most Kenyans are kind of illiterate in the digital space so they focused on the ad revenue without knowing that they can make over 1M in other revenue sources. Solutions: Create a fiverr gig or upwork and use their success as a stepping stone. Create an IG theme page using your editing skills and start getting those juicy dollars. Create an editing course tutanunua. Especially for short form content.

Well, life prepares you for greater things by walking through these rough paths.
