I Just wanted to express my thanks for your message on such an important topic and circumstance that many are in. I too was raised in the Baptist Church and by the grace of God I stumbled upon a very gracious young couple, for whom the husband was the evangelist at the King Street church of Christ, Beaufort SC. I was at the time as a young Marine stationed at Paris, Island SC determined to search out every denomination in the area hoping I could find one faithful group that followed the N/T and to attempt to get my life back in order with God. At that time and after not attending church for a very long time, I started reading the Bible and sensed that something just wasn't right with the Baptist Church. This young couple spent about 6-8 months studying with me and my wife answering so many of our questions by going directly to the scriptures and for the first time, I was introduced to the Church belonging to Christ and how simple it was to be in him, his body, the Church and to honestly worship for the very first time in good conscience in spirit and truth. Both my wife and I in faith, belief and obedience were baptized for the right reasons for the remissions of sins and to be part of Christ's grand and glorious Church of the saved and the newborn. Strangely before, I have never heard of the Church of Christ. Now and for so many years since, I am so glad I found it as it has sustained my faithfulness, marraige and ability to raise my family in the Lord ... something I did not have growing up in a very dysfunctional family! I'm now 63 and that was so many years ago, but no doubt the highlight of my entire life to date, nothing could ever mean as much. Now, as much as humanly possible I am attempting to reach out to my Baptist friends since moving back to the area I left from prior to entering the Marines. Keep up the good work! Sometimes I think we who were not raised up in the Church like so many others who were so blessed to have the opportunity to do so, value the truth in such a special and intimate way with so much confidence, assurance and thankfulness to the Lord.
