Ashburton Co, 5th Battalion Devonshire Regiment Territorials leave for the War in 1914 - a tribute
I live in Devon and when I came across the postcard of the Ashburton Co. I decided to pay tribute to them on the spot where they stood 110 years ago on their way to war, 24 St Lawrence lane.
I'm playing On the Road to Passchendaele and the Battle of the Somme.

This tune is a lament called 'We will remember them', written by Murray Mansfield. I first heard it in New Zealand played by the National Youth pipe band in 2020. I live near Honiton in Devon and I thought it appropriate to play today at Wolford Chapel which is near the airfields used 80 years ago on D-Day.
Pokarekare Ana - first time on the pipes!

3 days before I left Auckland in March 2023 for the UK I decided to learn this tune having been prompted by a lady in Walker Park who asked if I could play it; not sure if I can for at that point I hadn't seen the music. Ollie is my grandson.

Well done Norman, excellent playing, very entertaining. And such understanding neighbours! 🏴🏴🏴
Lovely bagpipe music, Norman. Bagpipes and Norman Ford are a match made in heaven. Joel Mason
