DGX670 Organ Leslie Simulator
Переглядів 2032 місяці тому
Here's an example of how the internal Leslie Simulator sounds on the Yamaha DGX670. I assigned one of the pedals to control Fast/Slow speed. Unfortunately, There are no additional controls to vary the Leslie speed. The speed does not speed up or slow down like a real Leslie. It basically switches from very slow-to-full fast and visa-versa.

Joel Bouchillon plays Billy Powell's piano solo (1/2 speed) on Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" This video is an update to the video I made back in 3/23. Several people asked me to do a slowed-down version (1/2 speed version) so they could easily see how to learn to play the solo. (just FYI...it's much harder to play this solo in time at 1/2 speed) Here is a link to original (full speed) s...

Merci, mäi Frënd! meng Band heescht White Tie Rock Ensemble. Besicht w.e.g. mäi UA-cam Kanal fir méi Live Rocking Videoen ze gesinn.
It's a great job, but just can't help but notice that it takes 10 professional musicians, obviously with a tremendous amount of prep and rehearsal, very focused on their performances, to get pretty close to what 4 guys just kind of goofing around could do on their own.
@@phyglenaut3874 You made a valid, relevant and excellent point, my friend!! Let’s expand on this. Yes, Van Halen (live) is basically 3-piece band with a lead singer. And, in the late 70’s up through ‘85, when you heard the band live, (depending on what song they played), you never heard the song (and all it’s parts) as it had actually been recorded. There are many many VH songs (even as far back as their first album) where there were multiple overdubs to fill-out and make the song phatter sounding. One noticeable song is “Jamie’s Crying”. You can distinctly hear two different guitar parts and stacked vocals. So, to accurately recreate and perform the song live, the band would need at least 2 guitarist. Now, your 4-piece band is up to 5 members. Now, as far as recreating “Jump” live: I saw VH back on the 1985 tour multiple times. They didn’t use backing tracks nor did they hire out an extra player to cover additional guitar parts. So, to perform “Jump”, Eddie would play the entire song on the keyboard (yes, there was even an attempt for Eddie to play the ‘guitar solo’ on the keyboard)…WHAT! no guitar solo! The song sounded lame. Now, the studio version is much more involved than what you realize. Eddie didn’t just play the entire keyboard part in one take. There are actually three keyboard parts: There is the main keyboard riff heard throughout the entire song; but there are also additional string lines during the pre-chorus and during the chorus. And, the rhythm guitar part is doubled for thickness. And of course, VH never played those additional parts live… he couldn’t have.. he only has two hands. But, once Sammy got in the band, VH instantly had a second guitarist. But, eventually, Van Halen started playing with backing tracks and “Jump” was never performed live on keyboard. The synth part became a backing track; and, Eddie played guitar on the entire song. So, that’s why my band (White Tie Rock Ensemble) has 10 members recreating “Jump”. I’m playing the main synth riff; the string quartet is playing the string lines; the second guitarist is doubling the main guitar-riff, the bassist, drummer and vocalist are covering their parts. Wow…And that’s why it takes a village to recreate such simplistically sounding songs.
@@JoelBouchillon Understood . . . no slight on you all at all my friend . . . just more a comment to give props to the unbelievable musicianship and performance prowess of the VH group . . . I got to see them twice with SH (who I personally prefer by a lot) and of course their "Live Without a Net" performance . . . I know when they had certain piano pieces and more complex arrangements they might have occasionally had a little bit of "funny business" going on behind the scenes in order to keep it a 4 piece, but not much. The amount of sound and the quality of sound they pushed out live with 4 guys was just unbelievable . . . and all while doing 36" vertical kick jumps and running all over the place and just doing all kinds of dancing and stage antics and goofing around while they were playing incredibly complex parts extremely accurately was just ridiculous . . . Live Without a Net "5150" performance in particular comes to mind . . . Again . . . great job!
@@JoelBouchillon wow, that's a very in-depth explanation. I never knew any of that but it makes sense when I think about it.
Yes indeed I think they were amazing

Joel - Are you using the string patch on the SV-1 only for the verses and chorus? Thanks.
@@TPBass1224 yes. SV1 for verse and chorus. S80 for solo, and Triton for bridge strings. Rock on 🤘!!!
@@JoelBouchillon : Awesome!! Thought so. One last question.. Do you have a special EQ setting for the strings using the onboard EQ or use any onboard effects (reverb/delay/etc)? Thanks so much!! :)
@@TPBass1224 No. it’s just all factory presets. Just FYI: I’ve played several different ‘colors’ of the SV1 and they seem to all sound a bit different from each other. The one in the video is a black version. The ‘same’ presets on the red and white models don’t perform or sound quite the same as the black version. On other note, if you watch my video “won’t get fooled again”, that too is the same black SV1. I’ve tried recreating that organ sound on both on the red and white SV1’s with no luck..
