Just a place to share videos of things around the farm or local area.
We are a 130~ acre tree farm. Are uneek things involves are circular blade sawmill and older equipment used on the farm.
Like most farms, very little is outsourced.
We do just about anything repair or work wize.
In the last few years, I've added recycled vegetable oil from various fair grounds around the area for use on the farm, in the place of diesel.
The newest item on the place, used for work is made around 1997 and is a work in progress itself
Located in the Oregon coast range, expect most videos to involve water in one way or another. As 6 foot of rain per year is the average for the area. With the exception of fire season, for about 3 months a year we go bone dry.
Completely different from the East Coast, where rain at any point of the year is possible
One other fun fact is, we average 13 days a year with a high over 90F, so where a very cool climate
Mabe a few random things from travels around the country.

Rusty wanted to see some dug-fir turned in to firewood, so I added him.

@@DanielAtkinsFirewood I have under $2,000 in it including all the upgrades over the near 4 decades. Was the first thing we ever purchased from Costco $699 LOL
I like this just wonder how’ll it’ll Perform with Texas hard oak wood ?
@@jsanchez3818 they ran that one at the hope event. Biggest issue they had was the short conveyor and the nonstop function and not getting wood in sideways. They had a few jams. I believe it was a prototype if i remember correctly.
@ how much waste does it create? I bought a wood processor thinking it was going to be the answer to producing fire wood, learned it creates a ton of waste. With all that said I’ve come to find multi wedges make a ton of waste versus a single wedge.
@@jsanchez3818 its design is more or less a box wedge setup. If you have wood that makes tons of junk with a 6, 8,12 or 16 way type wedge, it would also make a ton of junk with any box wedge.
@@BGWenterprises our wood here in Texas unfortunately just does not do well with these multiple splitting knifes. But nun the less very interested. Wish there was an option lease to own so I could try out before buying. If it works for my operation I would buy if not, I would return it.

That one tree just power bucked it's self
@BrennanRaihl And people wonder why anything logging is made out of cold hard steel.
@BGWenterprises right but either way logging as a hand faller or machine logging is still the most dangerous job
@@BrennanRaihl theres actually a big push to keep people inside a cab to reduce insurance costs. A big part of using a machine over a cliff side on a cable to fall trees.
@@BGWenterprises oh really never new that
Looks like a good day in the brush
@BrennanRaihl That definitely was a rare winter day with sunshine. . was up WAY-late cleaning the rental, of the packed in mud. as that was day 7 of the week rental. And then it sat nearly 48 hours until a truck picked it up. . Had I not cleaned it out that night, they for sure would have picked it up that morning and hit us with a serious cleaning surcharge. As It took me many hours to blow all the mud out.
@BGWenterprises dang but still looks like a fun time but any time in the brush is a good time
Trying to up cycle time? My dog is always out with me, a true friend
@michaelwhiteoldtimer7648 Yea he's my baby horse. Great pyrenees and Anatolian shepherd.
Hey buddy. The shop forestry and supply sells it. Hope this helps. 🌲❤️🌲👊🪓
In bend Oregon? I'll have to come up with an excuse to wander that a way. I've thought about taking the tow truck channel in that area, some chunks of 6x6 ect, to use.
@BGWenterprises yes sir that's where they are located. 🌲❤️🌲👊🪓
If the new engine is the same displacement/power, how is it going to power the new pump with 50% more flow? If the horsepower is the same your pump output will have 50% more flow/cylinder speed, but the pressure will need to be reduced by 50% to avoid stalling the engine. This means you will end up with a faster wood splitter but lots less force to split hard or heavy wood.
@kitfoxn990tt5 stage one is 19.5gpm at somwhere between 400 to 600psi, according to the manufacturer. figuring worst case that requires 6.8 hp the stage 2 of the pump is 2.8gpm at 3k or approximately 4.9hp. The original engine was less hp it was a flat head Briggs engine rated at 5hp. The replacment engine, has been dyno ran by several people on the net at a few tenths under 7hp. So yes I agree, I'm pushing the engine at a point, it will definitely have a shorter life. I've found manufacturers generally oversized the engines quite a bit, to basically avoid warranty claims. 0.01c
The original pump was also 2 stage.
Was that at Paul Bunyan
@Outdoorspnw2024 Yep, most all of the short videos are from there. Except for the train and old equipment. I didn't have the ability to edit until November sometime. . I had my father with me, so I had limited time to film, as he has major issues simply getting around ect..
Those brush rakes and thumb are nice to have I moved a lot of dead wood with that same set up 👍🪵🪵
@Outdoorspnw2024 it's a long hard week, when it's a rental. And it has no real working lights, at the shortest days of the year.
This one is R2D3 or Arty for short. He's one of the 2 new rascals at the railroad
Echo makes good saws I have the 620pw I,v seen the 7310 on Arlington equipment for $1200.
What year machine is that?, does it have the ford 172 gas engine? sounds like it runs pretty good.
@wavekube4343 Yep ford 172ci gas. It's a later year, being it has the jonsen bar reverser. Probably early 1960s All identification is worn off in one way or another.
$600 to weld it back up? That seems high. Was it really involved time wise to fix it?
@@littlewingpsc27 At near $150 an hour it adds up fast. it had to be cleaned up, after the leak repair with a bore machine. Plus a pressure test. . They also recorded all the measurements, to are account. and if we wanted a brand new one, it would only be a phone call from making it happen. . If you simply want new seals for a leaky cylinder, ive taken one apart myself.and walked in with a bag of seals, for far far far less money, but your doing the work yourself. And no warranty at all. Granted other than a new replacement, your not getting a warranty would be a good bet. . There want it fixed yesterday price, is something like 2x the 150
They had to do a black light with liquid or blue powder to find the cracks.
Cool
Glad see some videos on old skidders I'm trying work on a john deere 540 but can't get any of the levers to move

An earthen ramp was required for the 977 to be able to load the R-35 whereas the 983 may not need one. I'm not sure what they'll do with a set of forks: perhaps help move some of the dead machinery around the grounds?

11000 dollars woodmizer
HOBOKEN GA. I COULD TAKE YOU THERE! BUT I FORGOT THE NAME. A FAMILY OWN PLACE UP IN THE WOODS .
For an old machine such as a 983, you will probably have to adapt a set from something else.
The 983 cat arms are the same as the 988a model wheel loader. So look for 988 forks and they will fit.
What size was that Michigan payloader.
I'd gess a 475B unless I'm not looking up the right company, not a brand I'm accustomed to out west.

@hardworkingmanoutdoors It mite be a cutting rack, and put banding around each cut section, to possibly save a bunch of labor? There's lots of ways to skin a cat..
🎉🎉🎉🎉
And now you understand why I specify that I'm cutting hard oak or ash in my saw videos- much harder to cut than a softwood like fir or pine! Have you tried end grain sealer to help from the logs cracking while drying?
@@IowaPerformanceSaws i got to experience the hard maple at the April 2024 veteran's firewood event in Indiana. That stuff was flat brutal. . My 2 saws that are rigged more for higher rpm, handled it decent. Basically all my chains are rider ground for way softer wood, so things where a bit ruff. I had most all the saws in my saw lineup video, back there at the event.
Tuff heavy stuff!👍👍
371 is a 71cc
@denisthemenace. for as long as there 50mm there 71cc I'm not aware of any difference in the crank, in terms of stroke changes. . I just naturally say 70cc when it's actually 71cc
👏👏💪💪
That thing is awesome, any things you dislike?
@PhillipDrumz the round file, full comp chain. Not good for full 32" cuts. Chain oiling in full bar cuts, just seems border line enuf. I'm very accustomed to full rap handles, and I'm definitely looking for one for it. . Compression is relatively low, probably a big part of how they got it to pass emissions without haveing a computer controlled carburetor. And a big reason I like it, is no automatic adjustment of things. . I've found a few people that have opened them up, as there's about 0.065 thousands at TDC. Much more then other saws that are around 0.040 thousands. Generally modified saws are around 0.020 thousandths at TDC. People talk about them haveing a lot of kid prof things, to keep from affecting the emissions. As well as how they have a 5 year warranty, for as long as there not modified in any way. . It definitely reminds me of running one of my pre 2010 372s without the stratospheric air system, or x-torque as husqvarna calls it, definitely not something i like. Its A real low end power saw, Mabe even getting back to the feal of a 272xp saw. Sold tell about 1998 in north America, but still available brand new in Brazil.

@stevengonyaw1617 I've come across one person that had 2 identical machines. Only difference was one was without turbo, the other was with turbo. The turbo was a solid 30% less racket from engine. As the turbo basically acted as a muffler.
