This channel is more about the songwriting - an experiment in original intros, outros, melodies, bridges, guitar riffs, bass lines, percussion, effects, lyrics, harmonies. I am not a particularly good musician or singer, and if anything were of value here, the intent would be to studio record it with more skilled musicians - all this was done on a very basic home setup just to capture the song concepts. Most of the instruments and vocals are me, credit indicated where others contribute. There are quite a few covers as well, more experimenting with instrumentation and vocals - arrangements, ranges, harmonies etc.
It is what it is, and I actually like some of it. As a friend once said "It may be dog, but it's MY dog." :)
All the female vocals except for the overdub duets are friend Adrienne Morey, who has her own youtube channel @gnzrx333
Probably presumptuous and delusional, but all copyrights reserved on the originals.
Cheers for dropping by.

COVER Iconic Beatles song written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney sung in non-iconic fashion - but, you gotta try. :)

ORIGINAL Really just trying to capture the warmth and whistling-down-the-street vibe of a sunny day in spring when you hear the trickle of melt water and birds singing everywhere.

ORIGINAL - A long-distance romance framed as a story line in a book. Designed to musically and lyrically resolve back to the same catch-phrase at the end of each verse. My biggest take-away from the song? - I got to use "a priori" in a lyric. :)

ORIGINAL About not being sure where you stand in a relationship - "Are you coming in for love, or just the final kill?". Going for an older pop-rock style. I'd take the second chorus/bridge back (it all needs a re-do), but my daughter (maybe my only fan) liked it so I left it in.

ORIGINAL "So Jonah get your gun." This was written just after I had seen the movie Cowboys and Aliens, and with that in my head wrote some BS lyrics around a western theme to have something to sing with the music tracks (laid down first). Never bothered to change them. 😊 The main feature is the bass line, which came first, and around which the whole thing is built.

ORIGINAL About those magical nights you wish would never end. You know the ones I mean, and you know when you're in them. Written and recorded as a duet, with Adrienne Morey doing the female vocal. Additional credit goes to the crickets you hear in the background. I literally stuck a microphone outside the open window on a warm summer night to record them.

The Picture

ORIGINAL Sometimes a picture IS worth a thousand words - and a thousand dreams, a thousand ships, a thousand white birds, and a thousand romantic schemes. At least that's the sentiment of what is my attempt at a 60's style folk song. I'm guessing half-way through, John Belushi would be smashing my guitar against the wall if this were a scene in in Animal House. :) A shout-out to the anonymous p...

ORIGINAL. The song is about end-of-life unfinished business and regret, and trying to makes things right before the end.

ORIGINAL. Just a melody I worked out over time, for guitar and ideally Andean flute. Unfortunately the flute part is played on a cheap synthesizer keyboard, so you'll have to use your imagination there.
Yogananda Said

ORIGINAL Partly a tribute to Beatle George Harrison, trying to pull in a bit of his music style, and partly a reflection of my own journey with meditation. The song, and its real purpose, centers on one short single sentence in Paramahansa Yogananda's "Autobiography of a Yogi". There is an interesting cross-over if you're ever interested - check the album cover of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart...

ORIGINAL Me experimenting with an emotional(ish) ballad over a heavier electric guitar rock sound, emanating from the opening guitar riff. It's not finished but should give you the basic idea.

ORIGINAL Co-written with Christina (Tina) Olaveson who provided the lyrics - a poem she wrote for her husband. This one was more challenging to put to music; you have to work with the pre-existing structure of the poem. Usually songs are written music-first, or co-incidentally. But then, Bernie Taupin probably told Elton John more than once "quit your whining and do your job". :)
what is this pc played on as beautiful
Every once in the while the UA-cam algorithm recommends something great!
Too kind, Jeremiah. Thanks!
Your guitar talent is wonderful!! ❤
Thank you Bill. But not giving up my day job. :) Re your video about a tree falling in the woods, I once had a T-shirt that I bought in Minneapolis that read "If a man speaks in the woods and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?" You wouldn't believe the number of women that came up to me to say "Yes!". Cheers
Beautiful!!
Thanks Bill
I very rarely leave comments on videos, but there's no option to send DMs on here... so... I just wanted to say this is quite excellent as is your other stuff. I found myself here via a video by the Cleaners From Venus...
Hello Martin. Thanks for dropping by and I appreciate the comments. I'm just an average Joe of mediocre playing ( I play in cheater's open-Gm tuning now because it's easier to quickly learn and self-accompany over a much broader range of popular songs) and vocal ability who played with a jam band of friends for a while and did some song-writing just to see if I could. This is more an encouragement to other amateurs that if you're not sure you can do something, just try anyway. It's in the doing. None of this is particularly great, but I learned a lot and enjoyed the process. Cheers
Amazing!! Lovely job!! Very nice singing and should have more love!! ^_^
Thank you!
Nice
loved it! i did an intro cover of this song if you want to check it out!
