CFBK - Coaching Football with Brian Klee
United States
Приєднався 6 сер 2019
This channel is my effort to continue to grow the game of football and give back to the coaching profession that has blessed me with the opportunities to meet so many wonderful people over the past 24 years (20 as a coach). As high school coaches, we have an incredible responsibility and opportunity to lead student-athletes and teach them life lessons at a pivotal time in their development as young men. The mission of this channel is to both entertain and educate all coaches so we can confidently teach all aspects of the game while building trust between our coaching staff and especially our players. You can find a variety of videos focusing on schemes, techniques and drills that have been implemented primarily at the high school level.
Quick Snap Run Fits vs GT Counter Read Double Bluff aka Bills vs Chiefs and Ravens
The Chiefs made sure to take advantage of the Bills by copying this concept from the Ravens.
Defending GT Double Bluff certainly isn't easy, but I believe it can be done. My thoughts come down to a few key defensive concepts:
1) Defensive schemes need to keep LEVERAGE and match NUMBERS.
2) Defenses need to have clear option assignments.
3) When offenses use option concepts, the defense has the final option.

CFBK Quick Snap Even Front Run Fits vs Full House T
Переглядів 26День тому
Defensive run fits are always about great fundamentals, physicality and a sound scheme. This is especially true when you defend what I call the Full House T and others refer to as the Power T, Straight T or Dead T. This video shows Muskegon High School using 4-4 personnel in a 6-2 alignment defending Edwardsburg High School running the T. Checkout the Defending Full House T 7 Part Series: Playl...

What type of game is this? Varsity, JV or middle school
This was Varsity from the 2024 season.

Yes. It was at the end of the video!

Excellent video training my 10 year old
That is awesome! Trust his coaches & the schemes he plays in, but glad I’ve given you & him a helpful starting point.
can you do an outside linebacker specific video as well i need an understanding of both
Sure thing! ua-cam.com/video/MyOKyCdlqZA/v-deo.htmlsi=FaZN8VjpepSVUEWl
Veer machine! ua-cam.com/video/1Y-SoRXfvtg/v-deo.html
Ima sophomore this season and u do a better job explaining this than my coach thank you
Thanks! Glad I could be of some help. The overall defensive philosophy matters somewhat. Being in a 3-4 / 5-2 structure or 4-2 / 4-4 / 6-2 structure lends itself more to relying almost solely on guard reads. Regardless, when you breakdown what you need to do for your position it ends up being pretty simple, maybe not easy to execute perfectly, but simple. Maybe share with your coach as sometimes we simply don't know what we don't know!
ua-cam.com/video/ozvKNXC97f0/v-deo.html Coach what type of blocking scheme would you recommend with your system and this system?
great offense but no player development
Perhaps you are right, but aside from the right tackle, none of the guys this opponent had were likely to go on to play college ball. That's true for all but about 7.5% of all high school football players and even more so with small high schools with enrollments below 500 students. Development of football skills (blocking, running, receiving, tackling) still happen for the other 92.5%, but not necessarily in a system that translates to very many college football offensive scheme. I also assure you that if this opponent and coaching staff did try to do much more with their big, strong, but relatively slower players that they'd go from regularly competing and finishing with winning records to only winning a game or two each year. www.ncaa.org/sports/2015/3/2/estimated-probability-of-competing-in-college-athletics.aspx
Where were u wen I was in high skool…. Kids are blessed nowadays
When and where did you attend high school? I was an undersized OT / DT at 6'3" 195 on a small high school called Ubly from 1999-2002.

@@kenkemp8651 it is a shame that your coaches didn't give you this type of coaching. Perhaps they we were just in their 1st year and didn't know better yet?!?
The formation or the play? I assure you the 1st play is Inside Veer Triple. The 2nd play was a called Dive as we blocked the 4 Tech & the FB bent the carry into C-Gap.
That looks like double wing, not veer.
Double Wing is a formation, veer is a play, so wth are u talking abt
I assure you that the plays are Inside Veer and then Dive from a Wing-Slot / Slot-Wing Formation.
@@hunteroudekerk5375Right?
Double wing is a formation and an old one at that. What you are seeing here is Flexbone a variation of wishbone where both bone backs are wing backs. Double wing is double tight and the splits are foot to foot maybe 3 inches apart. Flexbone is mostly option (veer) while double wing is mostly counters and miss direction with a lot of pulling. I am in the process of taking wishbone fundamentals and incorporate them into the foundation of double wing. I want all the pulling counters and option at the same time.
Love the mix of practice footage demonstrating how the technique is played out in game.
3-4 2-High…Cloud “Spread” 3x1 sets & Sky any 3x1 with a TE so our OLBs can play run 1st!!! ua-cam.com/video/98VB8sbxwmk/v-deo.htmlsi=qJBdXkBBeuVYRb0u
Yeah. Our Q & our Wingback could’ve sold this better. With most things, motion is often enough to get LBs stepping the wrong way setting up down blocking tracks to secure a TD after a really nice move by our Slotback!
Follow with the fakes don't stop until your pass the LOS! That is how you freeze LB's
So its cover 2? Why are coaches adamant on changing the names of stuff that has been ran for decades?
Probably because the coverage can end up being either Cover 2 or Cover 4 depending on the route by the 2nd receiver. In short, it is a Cover 2 “match” vs a quick out or bubble to the flats by the 2nd receiver, but would be a Cover 4 “match” by any vertical or in breaking route by the 2nd receiver. I talk about how we coach / play it in these videos. m.ua-cam.com/video/98VB8sbxwmk/v-deo.html m.ua-cam.com/video/Yquo7D4nIf4/v-deo.html m.ua-cam.com/video/QS0rQkolk8s/v-deo.html
Is there any way I can get those slides emailed to me? @CFBK
Email me via coachbrianklee@gmail.com. If you have Hudl, let me know your school & I can send the film clips too!
I'm intrigued by the qb o-veer foot work . Did he shuffel 2 steps before engagé thé mesh?
He did pretty close to how we taught it especially on the 2nd clip (Outside Veer Q Iso Follow)! 2 big steps, sit & mesh, then pick a running lane. We used the same footwork on Outside Veer when we read it. ua-cam.com/video/0yJPC-_gHFs/v-deo.html
@@CoachingFootballwithBrianKlee Thanks coach 👍
Your stuff is great, Coach. Much appreciated. Keep it coming!
Thanks. Just trying to give back to the coaching community that has given so much to me!
Do you have any tackling and/or man-ball separation videos? If so can you send me link. I’m a high school Coach in New Orleans and my defense suck at tackling and creating fumbles. We’ve had more stalemate play that the ref blew dead than I’ve ever seen. Can you help please???
This is the best on tackling that I have posted on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/XybiDHs9TvA/v-deo.html
A big part of our philosophy is that good tackling comes from completely defeating blocks and having great leverage to make tackles. With that said, here is a decent clip of pursuit & leverage for tackling: ua-cam.com/video/-Ao7V7QkGcw/v-deo.html
We also believe the majority of forced fumbles comes from great pursuit, leverage and getting multiple hats unblocked by defeating blocks. Here is another clip of block leverage and forcing fumbles: ua-cam.com/video/nQnGi9wOog4/v-deo.html
Another tackling drill: ua-cam.com/video/SVX04u9ZQn0/v-deo.html
Love your channel
Just sharing what I've learned coaching high school ball for the past 20+ years!
Wow!! Anyway I can get or purchase this manual

this type of film study is hard to find
Thanks. Glad you found it helpful.
Awesome video! I’m going to implement it in my madden play book thank you
Thank you Coach this is perfect.
Thanks for the feedback.
Love your video's they are very informative and well presented....only critic is Audio is a bit spotty. Thanks
Didn't have the best microphone set up for all of them.
Just watched your clinic on defending the Straight T and found this Channel..sharing this much information is without a doubt such a principled things I've seen in a long time.
GO CARSON GOOOOOO
Bro this is so underrated
I appreciate the positive feedback!

Do you worry about false steps and if so how to you coach to stop it?
We try to limit them. Most important is that our guys get downhill. Actually there were quite a few false steps, but the 2nd & 3rd steps were downhill so it isn’t enough to make him late on any run fits. If I felt like it was a huge problem I’d probably go repeatedly rep that 1st step on our OL grid just the same way we coach up OL’s 1st steps.
2 other options to limit false steps: 1 - Stagger their feet with their inside foot back as most kids seem to step with their back foot 1st. 2 - Have them work step & strike like our DL & OLB as shown at about the 8:00 mark of this video. ua-cam.com/video/MyOKyCdlqZA/v-deo.html
Nice plan 👍
Thanks for checking it out!
We've stopped using our Wing to kick-out the 7 technique as shown in this and exclusively had the Fullback kick-out. Really could play around with having that Wing short motion on a handful of plays to be able to get back to using the Fullback to lead block to get the 1st extra guy (deep safety or back-side cutback player).
Zone lead is SUPER underrated!
Good stuff coach!
Thanks. I can talk a little offense! Actually this offense has similarities with Coach Tim Murphy's Shotgun Double Wing. He recently talked about it on Bandstra's Gap Down Backer Podcast: ua-cam.com/video/rCJ6iEMmVpo/v-deo.html We've also drawn inspiration from Rick Darlington's Single Wing and Tony Annese who is currently at Ferris State.
Great stuff coach!! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for checking it out and leaving a comment.
Good stuff
Thanks.
Great stuff as always coach! We teach Quarters checks the same way (0,1,2,3 receivers) and have had a lot of success!
Thanks for the compliments. Do you pattern match as well? I have EXAMPLES of matches against 2x2 in the next episode & should have EXAMPLES of matches the 3x1 in a few days. I’m pretty sure I can get some VIDEO up by mid-to-late next week.
CFBK - Coaching Football with Brian Klee yes only we ran a super dumbed down version. we ran it off of “Virginia tech robber” rules where the corner would be bailing vs 2 removed. Safety would read 2-1, overhang would SCF.
Tony Bananas we’ve been “match-up” for all 5 years I’ve been a DC. Don’t know if we could have if I didn’t have my HC / DB Coach or our JV HC, but our kids get it. It is basically Quarters until 2 is to the Flats...then play it as Cover 2. Honestly, best of being Cover 2 or Cover 4...get in what you need to be to give the offense the most problems & definitely what I know how to coach.
Coach, what's the name of your school? What schools do you play that run the T?
Nate Albaugh I coach at Coloma HS in MI. Teams we play that run the T are Constantine HS & Delton Kellogg HS. Also nearby by us is Edwardsburg HS who won a Division 4 State Title in 2019.
Hey coach, can you do a video on Cover 2 vs Spread formations? I feel like everyone talks about Quarters/Rip Liz match, but no one ever talks about using Cover 2 vs open formations
I can definitely share how we play coverage against spread / open formations in a future episode even if it is just a shorter video. Who knows...I tend to get talking especially while reviewing film and the next thing I know the video is just a little over 30 minutes long.
Great stuff coach! keep these going! Huge fan from the hueyboards!
Thanks for checking it out! I will have 3 videos up before I get some sleep tonight. Can't go to sleep without showing how to stop a TRAP or I'll have occurring nightmares! Should have the entire 6 part series up by this upcoming Sunday or Monday.
