Brief instructions on how to change rear spark plugs, ignition coils and PCV valve for 2007, 2008, 2009 Lexus RX350
can you regrease and replace the boot instead replace entire thing. same problem with 2010 rx350- driver side is bone dry
So I know u can now access the sun from the trunk but can you remove it as well without removing back seats?
I have the same question
What size width braided wire is that ? Is it 2mm or 4mm?
🫡
What kind of wire is that?
❤❤❤❤❤
thanks for the video, went to spray all the rubber like boots and ball joints with the 205 and seen this boot torn, see ur video and am doing the repair now. thank you for saving ppl time and money this is a great video.
Thanks. Yes i had the same problem. What is that part called you moved? Btw your engine sounds just like mine.
Very smart
great video there, guy
I was changing my daughter brakes and rotors today and noticed her cv Axle boot was off the seal completely open and grease everywhere. I went to Autozone and picked up a CV Axle just to get back and see that the tie rod boot was torn into shreds. I'm like wth could've done this? I've been driving a long time and I've never seen this happen on any of my vehicles. It looked like a plastic wall for an 🪓 throwing competition. Smdh. Thanks for letting me know this.
Im replacing that very same boot right now , thanks for your investigation and time. I was about to be charged 2000.00 for a rack and pinion leak/ it was a bad boot
I have same problem on my rx330 2006, passenger side boot but mine its damage on the bottom side of the boot, do you know why?
***Good obervation there..
The hardest thing was the 12 mil bolts. I'm having a problem where my gas tank is making a noise but it's only throwing 02 sensor code. Sounds like a breathing issue. Would anyone know what it could be
Thanks a lot. The dealer I went to was stupid, or ignorant.
they usually have general knownledge of fixing all car as fast as possible but not investigating every little thing on every brand makes years of cars
@@derpherpp3 If it is a recurring repair, on a good number of cars, they should draw a proper conclusion and suggest a fix. A service bulletin would be great, too.
I had the same problem as you described, left side rubber boot was fine but right side was torn so I replaced both a few weeks ago. I'm going to take a look under the car tonight, thanks for this little gem of information.
The same thing! Should I change the whole rack and pinion part or if I fix the boot it improves the steering?
sorry for the delay response. I think that if your rack is not damaged due to exposure, then you can simply replace the boot. For me, the whole right side got damaged so i went ahead to replace the whole rack, including outter tie rods ends.
you are right on target Smart guy...appreciate it..I have the exact same problem and in process to replace the boot...Thank you so much Its bad only 3294 views and too bad only 82 likes ...Try changing the name !!! just teasing lol
mine have same thing but, do i have to replace the rack and pinion or its fine to just replace the inner tie rod and the boot?
what did you do? I believe you only have to replace if its leaking which people say its a known failure for this car (quick tip search 84 at the end of the Toyota park to get it reman cheaper directly from Toyota)
This makes so much sense! I was surprised to find my 08 rx350 had a catastrophically failed passenger boot, now I know why
Hi. Where is ur shop located?
i am just a handy man 😂
Same issue with my 05 RX330
You should watch The Car care nut on UA-cam he is a master Toyota Lexus master technician.
Stop smoking before it takes your life.
Thank you!
I have the exact same problem with the 2008 Lexus rx 350 we bought with 70 thousand miles on it. This is clearly a factory defect.
Had to come back to tell you how much this video helped me replace my ignition coils and spark plugs in my RX 350. I'm glad you told be about the rear 12mm bolts. You call it a "pain in the butt". I call its something else. But having your video helped me build a plan and prepare. I know car but I'm not a mechanic. Overall this is an "easy" fix. The coils and plugs go in fine. But getting to them is a whole different adventure. Appreciate you taking the time to put this together. It seriously saved my sanity!!!!
Thank you for reassuring me this would get me through. 😅
Thank you
I like your thorough investigation, and I hope more people can view this to know why there is a problem with the passenger's side but not the driver side. Fantastic!!
Good job, and this is second time I watched your video. Immediately I recognize your voice. Thank you, Sir.
This is fantastic information; thanks!
I just did this without removing the wipers or cover, my hands actually made it, very tight fit but I was able to remove both 12mm bolts and the whole job took me about 2.5 hrs 🙃
Very helpful video. Thank you for taking the time to help out us Rx350 owners.
i thought u weren't going to take off the intake then later u took off everything.
Where do you get the knockle / arm glove ?
on Amazon, very helpful and no more cuta
I think the hidden 12mm bolt is stripped in mine. Any tips before I light this thing on fire?
it is not difficult at all to remove it. you just need to use the right tool and take time. If you do it right, you can take that out in 10min.
Good video
My 2007 Lexus rx350 has the same problem, thank you for letting me know the reason! Great job!
Thanks for taking out the intake manifold
tHANKS. I think the job is more like 4 hours for an amateur mechanic like myself. Thanks so much!
Good, simple and you explain its a pain in the butt I will never do this job. Excellent recommendations to replace parts that might fail; coil packs, PCV, one never wants to go back in for the second time. Some Japanese engineer said it needs more bolts and brackets, boss said more bolts and brackets!
Job time 5hrs from shop. "There is no reason to have that bracket.!" Hahahaha fo real yo
What brand of spark plugs did you use ??
I used Denso plugs from Lexus dealer (FK20HR11 Spark Plugs Iridium Long Life). Trust me, don't use after market ones or you will regret. All electrical components are best to get from the dealer. I bought my parts at very good prices from lexuspartnow.com
Great video on this car - I have same Japanese made 2007 that is throwing P0171 Bank 1 too lean code right now and working down the list of items. I have had the car in the shop for rear coil packs and I knew they were a pain in the butt but this explains just how much "fun" it is to get to that part of the engine to service them. Thanks for posting.
Working on cars while smoking is a dangerous game my friend. Lots of flammable fluids
This was a great video, thanks!
Thank you
Thanks I’ll be doing this job in the next 2 months.
Very useful!
