I'm that balling gorilla guy, but ye you ended up getting the best ending lol. Where you actually keep your promise. The other two endings are just pain. Alright, the lore here is that, when the reactor started to malfunction, ariane, to keep her alive as long as possible, was put into the cryogenic pod by elster every time they went to sleep, but when Lester eventually didn't wake up again, Ariane was left half-concious in the cryogenic pod, suffering constantly from cancer. Oh, and dunno if you got this already, but ariane is bioresonant, like VERY bioresonant. Tbh it'd take me like forty paragraphs to explain the lore here so I recommend you go watch a video lol.
