Thank you for explaining simply
I've never actually fainted at work but one day at work I felt like I was going to faint
Seems like you should try thumbnailing your dummy book so it's less overwhelming. I have a full time job and make art on the side. Definitely echo what you said, you should have fun! would be cool to hear how it goes with the dummy book, what inspires you, how you keep up on illustration stuff like podcasts, etc. can we get a sketchbook tour? sorry to hear you fainted, that's gotta be scary. rooting for you to get a book gig!
have you done anything in procreate dreams?
lol i did not notice the cat in your background until it moved!
I have it and dabbled but I think it’s missing a lot of features still for me to find it worth it. Doesn’t really feel like procreate when you draw in it either. I’ve been focusing on Moho animation which is great for characters as well as grease pencil in blender :)
Yes thumbnails for sure I just still find it hard haha but gotta start somewhere. Those are great suggestions, thank you!!
This looks lovely! Racoons are my favorites too. You had some really cool ideas to make them very playful! I feel like I am a few steps behind you (ok, maybe more than a few) and looking to reach a similar style, so it's really cool not only to see your progress but also your techniques. :)
Thank you so much!
This is so cool! I really like the art, so cute :>
I make cute sketches but I struggle terribly with translating them into lineless pictures. Time and time I switch back to lines as a crutch 😔
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with keeping line work in! If anything I want more line work in my art but I always end up covering it.
@@savannahlazo The problem is that I much prefer lineless art where the lineart is covered, like this piece of yours😂 I'm still figuring it out, currently I'm doing sketchy lines on a multiply layer and then gouache underneath. I absolutely adore this painting in particular, it just feels so happy. That's why I'm drawn to children's book illustrations despite not wanting to do art professionally, they transport me to a happy place 😊
I have a similar story but replace the video design with graphic design.. got a diploma and was freelancing doing only corporate stuff with almost no room for creativity. I burned out and quit many years ago. Now I'm thinking of becoming an illustrator but I basically start at 0 again. I really like traditional illustration but I don't know if there's demand for it since everything is digital
I’ve seen a lot of very popular traditional illustrators! Rebecca Green, Julia Sarda, Jon Klassen, Nik Henderson
Solid advice. You seem pretty chill. Subscribed
Thank you - this was fascinating! As an old, retired preschool teacher who has a passion for children's books, I especially enjoyed it!
I’m so glad you enjoyed ☺️
I'm all about multiple revenue streams and find it super scary to just rely on illustration as my main income. I suck at all things animation/motion so think its cool you have that skill set and it will also help you standout as an illustrator.
Yea way too scary haha. Yes, I make sure to mention I can do both in my outreach emails! Thank you for watching :)
Could you tell me your old PC specs, please?
I5 6600k, msi 1060 6gb gpu, 16gb ram
I would love to hear more❤
is the artic liquid freeze a good aio because ive seen alot of slander on it but with my buget its the only aio i can get so i was just wondering
I haven’t had any issues. My thermals are good, it idles in the low 20s and around 65 under heavy load
Hinten kein Lüfter? 😲🫣👎
Eventually I’ll get one haha lian li fans are expensive, but temps are fine
Beautiful and very good specs too. Congratulations
I love your portfolio, i think your portfolio looks so good and with the mentorsiph got so much better! ♥
Thank you!!
Thanks for the advice!
Hi Savannah, thanks for sharing your process, I love this fox! As a beginner to Procreate, it would be helpful if you would share the colors you used through a color swatch link. Also, if you ever feel like giving step by step tutorials on how to achieve this look, I would be sure to follow whether it be here on UA-cam, on Patreon, on Skillshare? thanks!
Thank you for the feedback, that really helpful to know. I’ll see what I can do :)!
like it❤️
gracias por el tuto, saludos desde paraguay
I’ve never heard of doing this before. This is fascinating to me. Great job in your work! It looks so good! 😊
It’s fun! Thank you so much :)
Hi Savannah, I stumbled across your channel because I’ve been working on my own personal book making journey. I loved your illustration advice. What also caught my attention was this video in particular. I completely understand what you’ve experienced. Especially since I, myself have suffered from the same social anxiety. It has literally petrified me in work situations to the point where I become physically ill and feel sick to my stomach. I really empathize with what you’re experiencing too. It has made me feel a bit like a third wheel in many situations. So, kudos to you on this UA-cam journey. This is encouraging from me in where I am presently in my life. So thank you. 😊
I know the exact physical feelings you’re talking about unfortunately, but I’m so glad this video resonated with you 😊
I've always admired Rebecca Green's work and I bought her Holbein gouache set a few years ago because I love her color palette. I liked that Green on Green book which I had never seen before so I will look for that one. Have you seen Beatrice Blue's books? Love those!
Yes I love Beatrice blue! I have her Wonder book but i will have to check out her picture books :)
That's cool!
very nice build, im building one similar this weekend!
Good luck!
Every version of the fireworks was beautiful to me ❤
Thank you hehe

It's so great you heard back from so many publishers! I hope you did get a job in the end 😊
Yay! You made it. Thank you! I’m going to watch it now. :) Edit- another great tutorial, with excellent explanations! You are a great teacher. :) I’m looking forward to your next one. Maybe animation? Even modeling something new would be fun to watch.
I’m glad you liked it hehe thank you! I’ll see what I can do :D
Good job! First build is always daunting haha
It really is lol
I understand about the cords not being white. My motherboard is sadly black, but i love the functions, I hust didn't have 300 more to get the white version, haha.😅😅 You can get white extension cords so that it's all white when others see the cords! 😊
Oh I didn’t know about white extension cords, thank you!
Everything else is white except the power supply unit 😅 Awesome build, enjoy.
arctic for the win great build congrats

Oh good point I’ll check that out

This is a Powerful PC
You should google the issue with this Intel i9’s. Shame they’re still selling them.
Oh yea I was worried about that, but seems like it’s just with 13th and 14th gen (luckily I got 12th)
12th gen is not affected by the instability problems
All 12th gens are fine even the 12900ks is not a problem
can it run doom?
Barely
What a nice PC build. Congrats! Hope to see you on COD some day.
You are a great teacher! Please make more blender videos. I am interested in how you did the back ground also.
Thank you so much! Background tutorial coming soon :)
so cute racoon
This turned out so cute 🥹
They really did hehe
Hi Savannah, first of all congrats on hearing back from some houses specially from some of the top 5. That is not easy to accomplish. They get tons of submissions and emails and only truly reply to what they feel is best of the best. So you should feel proud :) Also, regarding working with UK publishers, there is very little difference. The mayor one though is the budget. Budget for advances in books vary a lot between countries and no country pays as high as the US. I think would put UK and maybe Spain in second place and Asia in third. And another difference I’ve noticed but maybe it’s coincidence I don’t know but I’ve felt more freedom when I’ve worked with US publishers. The Art Directors I’ve worked with usually share a general idea or feel maybe but have given me lot of freedom in the creative process while the books I’ve worked with for the UK have had more dirección and more specs as to what they want. And I don’t think is related to how big the publisher is because it’s happened to me with smaller houses as well as big ones like Penguin for example, I think is more a matter of culture. Or maybe it’s been a coincidence hehe. I’m sorry about your mistake with the names in the emails I’m sure you felt embarrassed but I garante you you are not the first one who’s done this and I’m pretty sure they can’t keep track or remember who makes mistakes and who doesn’t. In a couple months they will forget. So don’t feel bad 🤍 Good luck! I hope you get your first book contact soon!
Wow, thank you so much for the insight! That’s good to know about working outside of the US. Really appreciate the time you took to write this, it means a lot ☺️
@@savannahlazo of course! 🥰🤍
hey thank you so much for the tutorial! just asking when you’re doing the hands suddenly the model turned smooth? i was wondering how to do that

OWWW cat wanted to participate hahah, thank you for the tips.
Thank you for this video - I love it ♥ it was nice to see some of my favourite illustrators here. You should check out a book 'Maps' by Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielińscy, they are non fiction, but made with so much fun. I think you would like it.
I will check them out ☺️!
