overall, better production than the original. but they butchered that breakdown riff at 1:18. its totally different here. what the hell happened ?
Sunlifter was literally made for Jesse. Karl doesnt do it justice imo
such a perfect misery signals song, like if you were to introduce to someone to their sound and the better version of its encapsulation I feel like it would be this song, such raw emotion

I love Ultraviolet (incredible album), but man Karl has a really special voice in my opinion. Gonna miss him in Misery Signals but if anyone was going to take his place I’m glad it was Jesse and not another new singer.

Maaan both tracks with Karl and Jesse are amazing. The one with Jesse is in a different key so it definitely adds a different feel for sure

@Fenrisulv987 I know Jesse personally so I have a slight bias towards him I guess lol I prefer this track with Karl because I'm not a fan of the key change on the new album but if I had to pick an overall vocalist for the band it would be Jesse. Of Malice will forever be my favourite album ever!
Yeah I'm not a fan of the drop c# tuning on the new album. Just doesn't sound right and they're playing old stuff in the same tuning live now.

I honestly prefer this version even though I like Jesse's vocals better. The new version is uptuned. But I'm weird like that when I hear a song and have it in my mind being in a certain tuning only to get re-recorded in a different tuning. Like when Misery Signals covers 7 Angels 7 Plagues songs in Drop C even though they were written and recorded in Drop D. Or the downtuned Re-recording of Shai Hulud's "Set Your Body Ablaze." The new version is still great, I just prefer this one.
Matthew Vitka I prefer Jesse’s version, the composition is way more thought out and not too cerebral yet it stands as a beautiful and great slice of how modern melodic hardcore/metalcore is done. The pitched screaming gives off epic Architects vibes but within the context it still stands on its own. Keep in mind I’m taking everything about the new version in and not just vocals. That being said Jesse absolutely slayed Ultraviolet. It’s been a really long time since I could hear a vocalist belt with such power yet still be articulate.
