Starkey is marvellous, but I think he maybe fears changes that are needed. Farage can be our Trump. We need a populist movement and a surge of Patriotism. The Conservatives let us down badly and we have to endure 5 yrs of destructive socialism because of them. There is nothing to fear from a new party of the Right, and everything to be gained from Brexit, a resurgent USA and strong U.K./US alliance. And we do not need our Royals to be political, God preserve us from Charles’ and William’s green wokery. Let them be figureheads and encourage us to fly our flags (only) 🇬🇧

Intriguing one might almost say that with a corrupt child abuse condoning Archbishop and a King prepared to chuck the established conventions of the realm that last Coronation might be deemed invalid?

Why would anyone want to vote for Tories again ? All Tories have ever done is make it easy for rich people to get away with crime. The Tories have only ever cared about themselves and their Uber wealthy friends and they have devalued the UK with their greed and dishonesty for decades.

I’m far left although I enjoyed this podcast. As a born and raised Londoner I dislike sadiq khan he hasn’t done shit. I prefer a more radical politician

You talk about being British or English. Heritage can get deeper than that. Even England can be culturally divided into Wessex, Mercia, Northumbria, East Anglia and Kernow. And then down to a county level like Yorkshire. I think Londoners see themselves as a separate culture from the rest of the country. And not all white English see themselves as Anglo-Saxon. A lot of Celtic and Huguenot (French Protestant) descendants.

Regarding the proposed beer garden smoking ban. I live in a small town of 10k people on the coast. Of the 10 pubs/hotel bars I have visited, 6 of them have already imposed a beer garden smoking ban without the need for government regulation. One of those is now up for sale. Non-smokers want to enjoy a smoke free drink and a meal in the beer garden. But crucially, they only want to do this when it is warm and the sun is shining. In the UK, that is about 10 weeks of the year. For the other 42 weeks of the year they eat inside the pub. For 42 weeks of the year the only people in the beer garden are the smokers out in the cold. So what will happen when the ban is introduced? For 42 weeks of the year the beer garden will be empty. Now, if I was a pub owner with a beer garden bringing in no revenue for 42 weeks of the year, I will consider the alternatives. The most obvious alternative is to sell off the beer garden for residential development. I will receive a large lump sum of cash for a plot of land that can accommodate several terraced houses. The following year, the non-smokers arrive to enjoy their meal in a sunny beer garden, only to discover that the beer garden has vanished.

Two comments about the movie industry. 1. Actors become successful based upon their voice. Not their looks. Not even their acting skills. Having a unique memorable voice is the key to success for an actor. Arnie would never have become a success if he had a standard American accent. There were lots of body builders but it was his stiff Austrian accent that made him popular. 2. People say modern Hollywood movies are failing because of their DEI content. No. It's because they don't want to spend the money on speaking roles for bit part actors. Examine any great movie and you will see it is great because there are scenes between the main actors and bit part actors. Examine any poor movie and you will see that those bit part actor roles are missing. They spent the money on CGI instead of bit part roles. Game Of Thrones has lots of DEI but is still compelling because it also has lots of bit part actors.

We misunderstand business creation in the UK. We think that to create a business we have to find a product or service and start the business around that. But I've come to realise this is the wrong approach. We should first create a brand and then attach products and services to that brand. The Americans employ this strategy better than we do. All of the biggest brands today did not begin life selling what they sell today. They attached and detached products and services from the brand through their lifetime. It was the strength of the brand that drove the business to success. A business that puts its focus on the product instead of the brand will struggle to survive. Think of Kodak for example.

I enjoyed watching this. Well presented and funny. My nightclub days were back in the 90's. Here is my take. 1. London nightlife is no better than other cities. Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool and Bristol are considered to have better nightlife. London doesn't offer anything special. 2. Drink, food, taxis, hotels are all far too expensive in London. 3. London is now seen as a place that 50 year old American tourists visit. 4. Other European cities offer a more exciting experience and better value for money. Budapest, Bucharest, Prague, Madrid, Zagreb. 5. More Millennials and GenZ have decided to not drink alcohol at all. They treat alcohol as a poison. 6. The majority of men have given up on nightclubs. They've gone down the MGTOW red pill route. Chads meet women on Tinder so don't bother with nightclubs. 7. The changing ethnic demographic of London doesn't drink alcohol or dance to club music. 8. The nightclub owner proudly stated that he spends 4 times as much on security as required. Overbearing security is an instant turn off for many. 9. Brits who used to pack nightclubs have simply got old. They've retired from night life. In the 90's the town I lived in had 6 nightclubs. It now has none. 10. A proportion of the money that once funded the night time economy is now being spent on drugs for an out of body experience.
