SC430 Trans Am Firebird Lexus
2000 Firebird Cold Engine Key on Engine off Fuel Pressure rapid bleed off.
2000 Firebird Trans Am 5.7L LS1.
I don’t have a problem starting when cold if I turn the key on then start right away, but if I wait a few second, the fuel pressure bleeds off so fast, it will still start but the crank time is longer.
The real issue is when the engine is hot.
If I go drive for a few miles, stop for 10 min, I have to prime it using the following technique.
Key on, key off then key on and start.

2000 Trans Am LS1 Ticking During Engine Warmup
I have this exact sound on mine. Can hear it in the cabin and it's noisy. It happens after 3-4 full presses on the brake pedal. Braking is still super responsive and completely fine. I am a bit tired of hearing the noise all the time though. Did you end up fixing this or is it just completely normal as you stated?
This is completely normal and this 2007 brake booster pump is very quiet. Replaced one on my old 2002 because it started leaking and it was a little louder. Toyota used these on most of their cars. I don’t think you have a problem. Is this your first Toyota?
@@gregwil6930 Ah, good to hear. Yes this is my first Toyota. Did you notice any loss in brakes or dash lights when yours started leaking?
@@kai_huang no, not at all, the brakes were fine, i just had a puddle of brake fluid under the car every morning. I replaced it with a master cylinder from a 2005 junkyard car. Has been fine ever since.
what exhaust setup is this
No exhaust after the third cat…it was loud
This was very helpful. Thanks for creating
Greg, you are the man! Wow, you have the patience of a Saint and didn't even curse and nothing seemed to phase you. Your video will help me access the Mark Levenson door speakers to do a rebuild on. As far as the door lock actuator, I usually run into problems aligning stuff back up when reinstalling so I may leave this one to the PROs, but who knows I may attempt this. Plus you filmed this all by yourself. Thank you so much as I just purchase a 2002 SC430 with a passenger side lock actuator that isn't opening or closing and for sure the lower right hand front door speaker has the foam and rubber gasket deteriorated.
How did you fix this?

What? Back of whos hip on a nut?
You probably already know what I'm going to ask: is that with resonator delete??
Yes, the resonators are after the third cat and cannot physically stay in the system
@@gregwil6930 Yeah, I thought not looking at the design of the 16917. No resonators on mine and it sounds great - but not as great as yours. I need to save up some cash.
@@althe I had a 2002 SC430 and did the third cat and resonator delete…it had a different sound but it was still nice.
@Greg Wil Is the third cat deleted with this sound clip or, with the 16917 system, do you have to keep the third cat? Also, with this system I've heard you gain torque - have you noticed a torque increase?
@@althe the third cat is still there.. I never put the car on a dyno so I don’t know if there was a torque increase
Just replaced my actuator following your video - thanks so much. At 74 with leg cramps it was quite a job, but got it done in 4+ hours. Really appreciate the tip to have the window down to take panel off, but then up to replace actuator and back down again to put panel back on. I had repaired speakers before without fully removing panel - wish I’d seen your video back then! I bought a replacement actuator for about $125 so didn’t do the motor replacement like you did - a bit more than my skill set. Only little problem at end was screwing in the door handle part. Spent a lot of time trying to line up screw with no luck. Guess I was just tired by then as it was the last thing to do!
The was not difficult at all. A lift is certainly helpful and decent tools. Good luck and enjoy the sweet sound!
Sounds good! How well did your kit fit? Mine comes in tomorrow and curious what to expect when I install it.
Question? How did you make the reverse lights come on with out having the car in reverse and no in the car?
I had the parking brake set and the car in reverse.
Greg Wil ok cool 😎 I was asking because I also did the full LED upgrade on all my interior and exterior lights, I wanted to see my reverse lights and I didn’t have anyone at the time to help me out with that, now I know how to do it on my own.
Greg Wil no shit?? For real? Lol 😂 if I would of known..... thanks for the heads up.
Hey what hood is that? Is it called the Raptor hood?
MrRock_ N_Stock23s Suncoast Creations, Melbourne, Fl I thought they went out of business, so be careful. ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/1482945-where-buy-raptor-hood.html Or facebook.com/SuncoastCreations/
Where did you get the lock actuator?
The lock actuator came out of the door. I replaced the little $5 motor. You can purchase the actuator. Rockauto.com sells them for about $125. Or you can get them at the dealer.
@@gregwil6930 where'd you source the motor? Part number? Thanks

How many miles on the car when you cleaned them? Did it make any difference?
About 90k miles. I really didn’t notice any change. It’s more of a preventive maintenance job.
What hood is that can u send a link please?
xWhiteShad0Wx It is called a Raptor Hood and was made in Central Florida. Not sure if the company is still in business. You may find a link but be cautious. SunCoast Creations made the Raptor Hood. www.ls1.com/forums/f36/suncoast-raptor-hood-verses-firehawk-hood-3539/
@@gregwil6930 thnk you !!
I had the OEM alternator completely rebuilt for $100.
how do you do that? (sorry for asking, I'm a girl). my car is making the exact same noise.
My car is making that moaning noise and the battery light is on. I will have it towed to the mechanic tomorrow because I don't want to risk it stalling when it gets to the railroad tracks.
Did you replace it?
I can't believe the price of the speakers. But this video helped save on the labor cost.
It started ticking at 2.5min, then at 4:07 I increased the RPMs and when I let it go back to idle the ticking stopped. After a few more seconds the ticking came back. I increased the RPMs again, then idle and the ticking was gone again. An exhaust leak would continue ticking or if intermittent, until the metal expanded enough to eliminate the ticking.
Have you checked for an exhaust leak?
Greg Wil did you found what causes that sound? I have the same issu on my 2.8 i4 vortec , cold start everithing fine but after its totally warmed up it sound like yours,,,
This is cold and in the process of warming up. When it is totally warmed up the noise is gone
Hey man ever figure anything out on your car?
Everyone tells me it is normal on the LS1 engine. It still runs great...I just don’t like the warm up.
Greg Wil I hate to say it because mine sounds identical but I don’t think this is a “normal” noise. I know LS motors are noisy but this sounds excessive. Mine goes away when warm but the initial warmup bothers me a lot. Here is a video of mine, fast forward to the 25 secs mark, same sound as yours. The knocking sound at the beginning of your video is normal though. ua-cam.com/video/Vk3jt1iUCUI/v-deo.html
"An Epic Journey Into The Door Of An SC430!" i'm rebuilding the speaker...super useful video. thanks

Hi Wil, sounds good. Did you replace the 3rd cat with a straight pipe?
Exactly the same on my c5. I’ve seen a few other videos with this exact sound and it was an exhaust leak, which can sound just like lifter tick
So what your saying is, as the metal heats up, it creates a small exhaust leak between the head and the manifold, then seals again when it passes a certain temperature. I am not sure I agree, because the sound will go away immediately if I increase the RPMs
Greg Wil Yea I agree I have a hard time believing that mine could be an exhaust leak but I have seen a few videos where it sounded just like this and the poster said it was a leak at the manifold. If you click on my videos I have one of mine tapping too.
Thanks Brandon...I have had the car a few years now and it has always ticked on a cold start...every time is just like the video. Many over on the LS1tech website claim it’s a common occurrence on our LS1 engines but it’s not a problem. It always bothers me because I always want to correct these types of issues. I should remove the valve covers to see if I can locate the cylinder but that’s a messy job and I am avoiding it! LoL
Greg Wil I am in the same situation mine has been doing this on every cold start since I put headers on. It bothers me but I try not to worry about it. I have pulled the valve covers on each side twice now and cannot find anything wrong, everything is tight and there is no sign of an oiling problem. Pulling the valve covers really isn’t that difficult to do. I would def suggest starting there
Man that thing is WAY IN THERE HUH? UGH!
Info on the LEDs you used if you don't mind. Fogs? Amber running lamp/blinkers? Rear running bulbs/brakes? Reverse? What about the rear side marker and front side marker lights? These look fantastic!
See post #47. This thread is about LEDs for firebirds. The amazon links I posted don’t work anymore but the pictures in post #47 should help you. BTW, the LEDs are still working great!!! ls1tech.com/forums/pontiac-firebird-1967-2002/1851174-98-02-trans-am-led-exterior-conversion-complete-guide.html
Lifters. Don't worry you fine lsx engines always do that.
