Wow, didnt mean to hurt your feelings about the grease comment but i wasnt the only one who commented on it. You need to be able to take honest constructive criticism if youre going to continue to make these videos. I truely appreciate people making DIY videos but as you probably know there is no filter on whether they are correct other than your peers leaving comments like i did. Honestly, do you really believe putting grease on areas that have no contact with any other part is the correct thing to do? Of course not. To let you know I have done a video to fix the seat play in your power chevy seat.- over the years it got 62,000 hits. Although I was never an auto mechanic by profession I have a degree in mechanical engineering, i spent 32 years doing rocket engine design for the Space Shuttle Main Engines.and other missile systems I restore old british motorcycles and cars and I own a prototype design and CNC machine shop producing medical devices and aircraft parts. I'm also a pilot and do all my own annuals. My comments to you about your video were honest and well meaning, I'm sorry they seemed to upset you. About my lock tight suggestion, automotive brake systems are subjected to high vibration and cyclic loading and heating and I'm pretty sure the manufacturer used lock tight on most of the system elements. Please keep making these videos because they are very helpful for most people trying to learn how to fix their vehicles.

@@thespartanproject001 I'm sure I didn't vote for you. Watch your own video, the two bolts you took out to remove the caliper had blue locktite on them - GUESS WHAT - you do need it. By the way, you should start buying that "brake grease" by the drum if you're going to continue painting every square inch of the brake system with it. Lastly, if you don't want honest and constructive criticism don't ask for comments Mr. President.

  • @kirkspiegel3951

Way too much grease on the front and back pads in areas that had no contact with anything. All that extra grease will do nothing but make sure you build up a ton of dirt on your new pads. When it comes to brakes and grease less is best. You should have checked the grease on the pad carriage pins. The rubber flex boots crack over time and can leak a little water in that starts rust and corrosion on the pin. You didn’t mention replacing the bolts you removed with a few drops of blue thread lock - those bolts are pretty critical and also have a torque specification. Not to beat you up too much but how do you know you hadn’t already tightened the lug nuts too much with the impact gun before the final power arm tightening - always use a torque wrench. Brake jobs aren’t hard to do but they are critical components and need to be serviced correctly.

@@kirkspiegel3951 Never had a problem. My Dad’s been doing this for 40+ years. He was a mechanic and has had a wide variety of vehicles over the course of his life. You don’t have to do it like us, but if there’s no one like us showing people how to do it, then who will? You’re certainly not. Go make you’re own videos don’t come into my channel and tell me “YOU PUT TOO MUCH GREASE”. You’re right I didn’t mention thread lock on the bolts cause guess what…. You don’t need it. Go back and watch the end of the video again, Listen to what my dad says about over torquing and under torquing the lug nuts. He’s done this for 40+ years and knows what torque by feeling it. He states “The proper way to Torque them is to use a torque Wrench but I’ve been doing this for so many years I know by just feeling.”Also, if you’re not familiar with an air compressor, you can set the limit of PSI for the task at hand. The torque gun has a limit of 100 ft lb of torque.
