    What happens when cameras and ai camera technology happen to be so good to be able to catch everything whats going off duty even with privacy curtain are closed. Even worst what if the camera amd ai camera technology happens to totally shut off the truck while the driver is still on tue road but is too short om hours to make it to the next truck stop?

    Those are AI cameras. The same way Teslas have multiple cameras around them are the same way they're trying to equip the trucks. Reason being that the AI will analyze the driver and road conditions. Tesla is a data company that happens to make cars. The truck drivers of today are no different. Those cameras serve to make autonomous trucks a reality of tomorrow. SAY NO TO DRIVER FACING CAMERAS.

    I understand that they may only be looking at certain things. I am definitely concerned and waiting for more information. But, regardless of what they are supposedly looking for, it just opens the door to a lot of issues. There is multiple little things that can become cause of termination if they really want to get you. I’m just not comfortable with that potential level of control. Especially if I commit to lease purchase. They have made major changes in just 6 months. I’m afraid to commit for 3 years.

    I was thinking about prime but now no. I will never ever work for a company that has driver facing cameras. You all can try to justify it all you want its still them micro managing you. The office personal dont have a camera watching them checking their productivity. Its their way to tell their drivers your idiots and cant be trusted. They will tell you there are triggers but believe it they will record everything.

  • @imanners1
    @imanners1 Рік тому

    I drove for Penske for 2 years, they had driver facing cameras. The camera is only triggered during a critical events, 8 seconds B4 the event and 8 seconds after. It will not detect you touching your Phone or Nav system unless, like B4, during a critical event ie. Hard brake, following too close for more than 3 seconds, or lane departure without signal. I was involved in a rear end crash, and the truck that hit me from behind triggered my camera. Safety sent me the whole thing and it showed how far I was thrown forward, they called me before I can call the cops. It's not all bad.

  • @thehovermatic1243

    There is no limit to what this technology can do. Their ultimate goal is to have the ai predict based upon mood and behavior who is most at risk of wrecking their truck. It will learn from all of us the subtle nuances when a person gets angry or when someone is desperate or has some hidden or unknown illness. The microphones may not be recording audio but the ai could transcribe whatever it picks up into text and even if that data isn’t shared with prime the AI could use it to determine how happy or unhappy the driver is, if they are acting erratic or are having family problems. It’s really crazy that we are going to be lab rats in this experiment. It wouldn’t surprise me if the mega carriers are getting financial kickbacks by forcing the drivers to participate in this program.

    i think the safety cameras are a good idea for rookies and drivers who show they need it , i havnt had a incident in 2 years and that was a hard brake but im almost 2 years safe and a couple weeks ago i had a false alarm the incident recorder came on for no reason so i stopped and called safety and they told me to go to a terminal and have the shop look at the system so i turned in truck and company put me in a motel and shop did some trouble shooting and all kinds of money and time was wasted to figure out nothing it kinda makes me laugh but its all about safety and i only have a outward camera so now your talking a whole nother sytem to maintain , i bet they will turn them off on some drivers whether or not they tell u who knows but u dont make money when guys are hangin out in motels because of false alarms

There was a company that would have let me use there truck to retest but they wanted me to drive for them a wile and it was not a very good company. So school or a company like Prime that has a testing program. I looked at several but Prime stood out to me the most, So I came to prime. All they ask is for a one year commitment. And you can lease or go company right away. It was really a no-brainer for me and to be honest I really do like Prime.

      So after I made this, I seen someone on Facebook post a msg he had with his FM. According to his FM they are not looking at inward-facing cameras, but an AI system that monitors to Driver. Now I said to embrace the technology, but I think that if they’re using AI to monitor, the driver is a bit much.. I myself don’t wanna be expected to be like a robot. I don’t need AI to be measuring my every breath.. but at this point, I don’t know if that has any truth to it and will wait and see what it is but if it’s just an inward facing camera, I’m not as concerned about that. I understand. Everybody will have their own opinion on that and I respect that.

      If that was the case then it would miss the incident. More than likely will be snip the part that cause it to trigger so like 5 seconds before and 10 seconds after and then send it to safety. Just hope you wasn’t doing something you shouldn’t be doing that they will consider “distracted driving”. I have no issue with outward facing cameras but when it comes to driver facing camera. It’s easier to prove that the driver was in the wrong and can put that on your DAC report which will make it difficult to get a new job.

Work your tail off - and then they say, "Oooops, sorry - no freight - dead head someplace else. I never drove for Prime - always heard too many bad stories about them. Never drove for Swift - never drove for J.B.Hunt - never drove for England - never drove for Werner. I always drove as a company driver, I lived in my truck and didn't have a house payment or a family to take care of. If I had to sit....oh well - that means the company wasn't making any money either. I retired in 2017.
