Ascension sci-fi movie scene, landing on Titan, moon of Saturn
Ah, eventually you might want to get into Arduino or into Pi Pico's Micropython (these are two easiest to learn things i can think of) to control the motors. Synchronising steppers digitally via step counts is bound to be better than any mechanical system one might come up with, plus you can integrate sensors etc. Stepper motors don't have any inherent speed drift, the drift is coming from your control logic which doesn't keep consistent time. For one potentiometers are bad inputs since their readings do drift from moment to moment, and it's also not really potentiometer's fault but the ADC and supply voltage drift. But more importantly the timebase comes from a crystal oscillator, and these do drift a fair bit, so unless you have extensive calibrated temperature compensation for them, that's going to be the main problem with the digital controllers. Running steps for multiple motors from the same board which has one timebase would solve that problem. Oh also how to generate an arbitrary constant ratio of steps: Bresenham's Line Algorithm (which is a division algorithm in disguise). Don't try to do step calculations with floats, this will likely end in a lot of hair pulling. If this is something you might want to embark upon, maybe i can be of a little guidance.
It had me kind fascinated until the end. Not bad on a low budget, but shaking the camera an actors bouncing side to side was a bit juvenile. The crystal star piece looks like they got it from the now defunct 99 Cent Store. Mysterious, “you figure out what it means” story telling is very college student filmmaker. 😏
I love a well-written and directed, low-budget Indie sci-fi movie. I just can't - no matter how hard I try - suspend my disbelief enough to forget that Titan's gravity is only 14% that of Earth's. They would be half-floating with every step. When his bag fell down to him, in the first scene, it would have slowly descended and touched the floor gently. Aside from this, I like the story. I saw it years ago, somewhere, and the same thought occurred to me about gravity. Ah, well... Still, great plot, and well done, director.
1:13 just like when bird fall from the sky, another bird from the same group circle above unable to help...we didn`t move much further from animals
so where is footage of actual descent? and why is pollice car there?
That's fucking cool!
That apache circling above was definitely there for 'cleanup operations' should anything go wrong with recovery.
Did they offer projectors with larger reels than 7"?
I love that German flag!!!
I have an extensive collection of vintage Arriflex 16 mm and 35 mm cameras, including brandnew 16 ST and 16 BL.
Wonder why there's 1.4k dislikes? What made these people upset?
Pretty cool, thank you all for your service!
Wow, dad mom an attraction come to our yard
Reminds me of an old joke "did you know my dad killed 28 men in the war?" "I thought he repaired helicopters" "he did. Just not very well"
uhhhhhh, ok.......
About the coolest thig that could ever happen inyour backyard!
Must be a Russian chopper pilot!! Has no idea where he is lol
ES MUY MUY MUY BUENA.
We have an Indiana National Guard base right off I 74 as you leave Indianapolis and head for Cincinatti. The unit flies helicopters. A couple of the pilots live just north of Indy. In the spring, when their children's school has their annual field day, they will fly a bird up for show and tell.
Very informative. Thank you.
I gave up half way through. The lack of dialogue was killing me
Thank God everyone is okay.
i'll bet you can't last 15 minutes without faliing to sleep
tell me what model of 12 volt power supply you used to drive the nema17 stepper motor?
Why are you using an LED light source?
For the lens, you're using a 25mm 2.5 to 5x macro lens- what zoom level do you tend to be at for 16mm film? Wondering whether this lens is suitable for a project I want to work on.
5:44 shouldn't they be called bearing balls? Since "ball bearing" is the name for the whole assembly…
The Apache Helicopter is my number one favorite Military (Apache) Helicopter
it's not exact... the loupe of this cam is wrong, because this loupe belongs to arriflex 35 bl 4... instead the 35bl2 has a much smaller loupe.
Yes, correct. I wear glasses, and the larger eyepiece works better!

1:25 it's kinda odd you played a take-off in reverse to make it appear as landing.
The Germans!
That's like having a Monarch Butterfly land on your nose!!!! I hope they appreciate what an experience they had that day. 🇺🇸❤⭐👊🏻
Far cough with that shite music fool !!!
And, like that, it's gone.
That Blackhawk landing was cool. The aircraft is probably like or has plants of power
Back in the 90's my Blackhawk had to land in the middle of rural Georgia to check out a chip light warning. While checking out the transmission chip detector, a guy with a big old beard wearing a big old oilskin jacket and hat rode up on a four wheeler. He just came out to check and make sure we "was Americans".
I grew up right outside of Fort Rucker Alabama (Fort Novosel now) was the helicopter training center during the Vietnam War. A CH-47 landed in your back yard on my 12th birthday due to an oil light coming on... We ran over to the helicopter with ballons tied to our ankles. The crew gave us a guided tour while waiting for a repair crew to come by. Best Birthday Ever.
I've been working on a 8mm DIY system myself. I have steppers for the supply, pinch roller, and takeup reel. You mentioned that it was hard to keep the loop from getting too large/small. It may simply be that the diameter of the spooled-up film on each reel changes constantly. At the start, each step of the supply reel puts a lot more film into the loop than a step of the nearly empty takeup reel. I use a Raspberry Pi to control my scanner, and it computes how much to move each film reel (which is constantly changing) for every frame that gets captured. Different reel sizes with different lengths of footage of course need to be handled differently. A sensor to detect the slack/tension in the loop would probably be the best approach, but I wanted to do it just in software.
We can be such a coordinated people it's fuggin awesome
Ok, the motor you have there on the arri 16th. What is it called? I would love to get it.
1:09 "the mother apache circles her injured young..." -documentary about apaches narrated by morgan freeman
Incredible results! Kodachrome looks amazing
Seemed like a long story by putin taking for hours .
Солярись ... римейк .
In this video a APACHE helicopter had to make an emergency landing, and I remember years ago when I was on leave, and I took leave to go home and me and a friend of mine, went to the big island and we were high in the volcanoes, and everything was black,we could hear a helicopter over our heads, and we saw a helicopter flying over us,but I wasn't afraid, because I was active Military, and all I had to do was show my military ID. Active service.
Excellent build! The precision and details are amazing! We work with 3/4" U-Matic videotape and capture it to a digital format. You can see our work on our East End Productions Archive channel. I just came into possession of some incredible 16mm film from the early 60s through 70s. I am driven by a personal and historical responsibility to make sure this footage is digitized in the highest quality possible. Initially, I will do a simple projector to video camera capture. Once I get that done, I plan on modifying the projector into a single frame capture device. Your use of stepper motors is inspiring. If I can get a robust motor to drive the film gate effectively, I should be able to build a LED light source and Macro lens system for the digital workflow. Your videos have been very informative and inspiring. I wish I had access to a machine such as yours, but I got some good ideas from you to possibly build what I need. Thank you for an outstanding series!
It's lucky Apaches can see very well in the dark.
Nice german flag!
