This is so cool! As someone who has only seen color lithographs as finished works in art museums, I've always wondered what the process is, and it's so fascinating. Thanks very much for posting this. For future viewers: the actual documentary starts at 7:00. There's some weird gray rectangles that appear around the host's mouse cursor at the beginning, but they go away after a minute or two.

I think anything can be taken as nostalgic or sentimental. so what. an abattoir can be sentimental image for someone. one can never tell. anything that touches us can be said to be that. it's just part of it.

Dario might be interested in looking into sound recovered from unglazed turned ceramic works of anthropological interest. Throwing pottery has historically involved using sharp tools to shape and harden the surface of leather hard ceramic bodies and sometimes finely engraving them in fine concentric lines with the use of early kickwheels, either purposefully or as a sideeffect of nails imprinting as the turning is done. Back in my ceramic education in the late 80s with the technologies then new and therefore used in curious experimental ways, it was possible to hear the thud of the foot (or hand) against the wheel played back in real time on certain ancient pieces. I now and then wonder if anyone ever looked into this later on, with the advanced technology of recent times? I haven't heard of it, but I assume there's more to be uncovered. This artform is so ancient it would definately predate Edison with many centuries, possibly millenia. In theory at least, one day it might be possible to listen to Minoans shooting the breeze in the pottery workshop, or at least hear a nearby goat bleep a complaint 😉 This was very interesting, both the works and the discussion. As an expat since several decades I can relate to Odysseus feeling upon finally arriving back home, perfectly. Therefore I will remain in Europe which has become more familiar in many ways I'm comfortable with, as what I remember to such a great extent seems lost in the past of the nation I was born to. I will remain the Stranger wherever I go. But I've grown used to it, and as an artist it serves a purpose for me as well. Keeping my perception sharper, hopefully. Many thanks for sharing this inspiring video! /Jo in Stockholm.
