      It should not be wet. Use plastic to prevent water from getting inside. You don’t have to use it if you are not feeling comfortable. Thanks for asking

    Thanks for sharing this idea. What is the length of the pipe and aprox the end size of the scarf ?

    • @FeltingwithMarikah
      @FeltingwithMarikah Рік тому

      This pipe is 24 inches long and 3,5 by diameter. The scarf will shrink depending on your felting techniques.. I I’m trying to roll it longer to stable the fiber, but shrink less. I make it different sized depending on a piece of silk I have.

    How must the wool be prepared to start this? I have wool sheep and would enjoy learning

    • @FeltingwithMarikah
      @FeltingwithMarikah 2 роки тому

      What is your sheep bread? How long and fine the wool it produces? How dirty, greasy is it ? Do you want to dye it or use natural color? Did you ever try to felt it? I am using mostly industrial processed wool, but sometimes I do mix it with our local wool to various reasons.

    How many Amps is this sander? Does is make a difference on what kind of shape the sander is. Round, rectangular or pointed. Appreciate your advice.

    • @FeltingwithMarikah
      @FeltingwithMarikah 2 роки тому

      Hi. The larger surface is better. Amps don’t really matter. Not the round one - you need vibration, not rotation :) I use this one: Makita Sheet Finishing Sander, 1/3 In, 1.7 A, Teal (BO3710) www.amazon.com/dp/B002WU950M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_FR0KFRAVE7A8NEV9FHSF

    What a wonderful way to sort out the fiber! I have been making cobweb scarves for awhile now and this is by far the best way of doing the layout that I have ever used. It is fast and easy with far fewer holes than just trying to ease the fibers out flat and even doing it using a fork. Thank you so much for sharing, I really appreciate it.😊

    Thanks for these videos, Marikah! I just stumbled upon wet felting and needle felting a week or two ago, and thought it would be neat to try making a felted mask. Not only are non-woven natural materials said to be good for filtration, but if I'm successful, I could make some interesting custom designs. Now that I see how you did it, I have yet another use for the Ultracal mold I made of my face a few years ago!

    • @FeltingwithMarikah
      @FeltingwithMarikah 3 роки тому

      Sorry, just saw your comment:) You can use any waterproof surface (this is rubber mat from a pet store,) but It can be a shelf liner of a bubble rap (I would put it upside down) Anything with a little texture to help agitate , so felt wool while rubbing.
