I definitely feel like range on Ray is a bit of a bait. It makes them susceptible to AM, is only useful in a very narrow range of situations (esp with the stealth anti-synergy), and doesn't take advantage of one of their strong points - their tankiness. Oil is also really only if you plan on playing defensively. Imo, you ditch both for Armor and Shield; it makes Rays really obnoxious to try and kill. Early armor especially really punishes fang and stang counters.

You know it's true desperation when your opponent orbital javelins an empty space on the off chance you will be there next round :)

With Phantom Rays you take range OR stealth, never both, because they contradict each other. Rays only uncloak when they're attacking, allowing them to get close before opening fire, but extended range makes them engage from further our, rendering the cloak much less useful.

Yeah. I hope GiantGrantGames is right about the importance of the single player campaign (and, he probably is), because this game gets really quick the better you play. I can see the glycogen just burning up from your brain as you fight the those big fights. Exhausting. ... This game has a pace to it. La De da. Starting out. Some practiced clicks. Some pleasant background sounds. Buildings going up. A little back and forth for those experience castles. Click click. Clickety click. ... The army builds up. Some exploration. Suddenly! I find the key clicks entertaining - as a cue for the ebb and flow of the game, as a reality counterpoint to the game's sound effects. They also give me an auditory marker for what competent gameplay would "sound" like with this game. ... I find the rapidity of the clicks intimidating, as well. Heh. Heh. ... My game is Total War: Warhammer III. Most of the time I play the battles on half speed so my brain can keep up with events and I can see the unit animations in all their slow motion glory.
