Ollie Collie - Slow Motion
When Ollie plays Fetch with his stick he likes to run half a circle BEFORE it is thrown and then, rather than run back in a straight line to bring it back, he likes to complete that circle!
Why? Because he is bonkers!

"You are in charge of your feelings, beliefs, and actions. And you teach others how to behave toward you. While you cannot change other people, you can influence them through your own behaviors and actions. By being a living role model of what you want to receive from others, you create more of what you want in your life." Eric Allenbaugh

We didn't have much but life was much better than today 😂😂 thanks for the memories
I worked in Mills and in Asbestos spinning, l do not have any happy memories and became a lifelong Communist.
I had a relative who was a Shaw Gawby😄Always liked Shaw back in the 70's because I found it a lot quieter than Oldham and a closer community, There were some good walks nearby too over Crompton Moor. It's heyday though, it was a powerhouse for textile manufacture.
No mention of the Briar and Lilac Mill. Queen Elizabeth made a Royal visit in 1953 to the Lilac. I would have expected a mention in your video.
My bad! I should have done more research at the time (learned about that since) It was just a, quick video for Facebook. I never expected it to get so many views on here!
Why can't it just stay like that 😪
I enjoyed this presentation. I grew up in Oldham. My father workrd on the rope/engine pulley systems in some of those millls. As a very little boy, I have memories of being with my father as he repaired the ropes etc. That was a lifetime ago.
Happy memories ❤️
Those were the days. Frankly I wouldn't touch Shaw with a bargepole nowadays. I used to live there until I recently retired to Grange over sands, and I can honestly say that I was glad to get away. It's an absolutely awful place now, full of all manner of undesirable people, and much of the traditional terraced housing now let to equally obnoxious tenants. An overspill of Oldham, to my mind.
Shaw is IN Oldham. I've lived here almost 40 years, yes it's changed a lot, but so have most towns in Oldham. I don't hate it, but it's certainly not as nice as it used to be. The sense of community, that I used to love, is no longer here.
In 1965 I was planning to go to the RNCM violin so I started my first job at Morefield mill in the winding room I loved Shaw, still do. My mother worked in most of those Shaw mills including the Moorfield. Happy days, I finished up working with my father on British Railways 1969 - 2011 worked at Shaw many times. Happy days indeed.
Lily 1 and 2 are gone now..
I were brought up in shaw 2 of my aunts work in the JD Williams mill near the tram stop shaw was a great town
thank you

You eat poo
The mills of shaw used to be our playground as kids 😁 great memories
Haha I live here
I used to.
I've mentioned on another of your videos that my Grandad worked at the Lilac Mill, for 51 years, 1989 was the year he retired.
My Grandad worked at the Lilac Mill in Shaw, 51 years he worked there. I'm in Chadderton and older generations of the family are from Greenacres and Fitton Hill.
I used to work in Shaw 1980-1982. At a company called Easyfit . They made stretch covers for furniture and car seats. It was near a place they used to call the Wigwam. Do you know it at all?
@@marilynkennedy8236 sorry not heard of that, ive not been to the shaw area much, i'll ask my mum.
Like many Lancashire towns...much has been lost over time but little has been gained in its place...
Only just seen this, xcellent... old Shaw as it should be... gaubies forever x
thanks for the upload...!!!
Well done, great pics , great town , great folk, ALAN WALKDEN
Hi I was just doing some genealogy research on my grandmother Contents Turner (or Contence, not sure of the spelling) and her family, who lived in Crompton, Jubilee back in the 1800's. Her parents were Wililam and Deborah Turner. According to the Rootspoint website other household members were Eliza Ann, Frances Ellen, Beatrice, Joseph and James WIlliam (James William died in 1895 when he was 10). I enjoyed your video. Grandmom said she used to work at one of those mills before she moved to America in 1907.
My husband's family (from whome I got the name Turner) is from Gorton. So, although I have lived in Shaw for over 35 years, neither if us was originally from here xx
bring's back memories
Brilliant old photos and good choice of music. Will show my parents, they will love reminiscing. They lived across from the photo of the derelict cottages in Cowlishaw until recently. Thanks for sharing.
You got a utonagan rescue dog ? You are a very lucky person and it seems a very lucky dog :) I hope you both have a great life together
Thanks Cam :)
This is the same colour is my pupy
Thanks for uploading this video. Brings back some good memories. I worked in four of these mills in the early 80's as a teenager. I still own a clock that was given as a gift by the owners of the Ash mill in 1983 to celebrate its centenary. One year later they shut it down .
Lovely photos.
brilliant! :)
Thank you :)
You are welcome x
Thanks for sharing, that is the only picture I have found of my old school, greenfield lane.
David, if you go onto my blog you should be able to find a still photograph of it. Feel free to download it - iloveshawandcrompton.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/out-and-about.html
That's great, thanks very much.
Thankyou so much for putting this online ...a lot of memories here
My boy! X
The representatives of the good people of Chadderton, MP and Councillors, need to be ashamed of themselves for even giving such a stupid planning application time! There are so so many empty units in the Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council area and brown filled sites that should be taken into consideration and used. This plan by the developers jointly with OMBC should be scrapped with immediate effect. Shameful. As the old saying goes 'They don't make land anymore'. Hopefully someone somewhere will see the error of their ways.
Fantastic pictures of our beautiful but threatened surroundings, I hope people take note of what we will be losing! For god sake lets not vote these irresponsible councillors in again they don't deserve any loyalty, they don't listen to us, we won't put them in a position of power. Well done Julia.
