Thank you for the great information! 😊
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
thank you for another great class!
You're so welcome!
How can you tell when looking at a legit Bakelite that it is the color it is supposed to be? Can you tell the actual color?
Great presentation, thank you! I see “plastic” jewelry at thrift stores all the time, now I'm happy to have these tricks in my arsenal. I’m a Chanel collector so now I'm going to need one of these lol. Thanks so much!
Great video. Thank you so much ❤
You are so welcome!
I admire your drive, being old sometimes, is limiting for technical skills... definite learning curve... having unlimited listings for eBay, takes out the need for other marketplaces....Laxvespa-LosAngeles
Very informative and lovely examples shown.
Very nice! Thank you
Hi! I loved your class! I’m hoping to find more classes from you. I’m sure it’s already been noted but I just wanted to say (in case you get out on the spot again), you can typically date pins and brooches by the hardware, pin length and construction. Tube hinge or C clasp ect. Just something you can mention so they can research. I’m gonna go find some more of your videos! I have already learned so much just from this class. I do have a question if you get time. Will bakelite that has a clear or lacquer finish still test with the semi-chrome? Thank you
Could you comment on reproductions from the big C. or wherever?
Could see
Can u bring closer to camera please so tube people. Ould see
Can't see jewelry
I was always told end of the day Bakelite refers to pieces with three or more distinctive colors. Because sometimes the two color ones were done intentionally such as the Green and Yellow which is a pretty common swirled to find. I've seen some pieces with as much as 8 colors in a single piece.
Wow 😮
Why are you wearing a face shield? Asking for a friend…
Perhaps they have a compromised immune system, or share households with someone... as far as wearing a face shield possibly, as a courtesy..Laxvespa- LosAngeles not everyone's in perfect health..
Very educational and easy to follow video. Thank you! If I may suggest, when you are showing pieces of jewelry, maybe come close to the camera so viewers can see? :-)
Thank you for the new videos, I really love all of them!
Glad you like them! More to come over the following months.
very happy for the new videos!
I really liked the last idea, very clever 😮
Thank you! 😊 We hope we inspired you.
spokesperson has very limited knowledge of vintage plastics and has discussed lots of falsehoods about Bakelite - most of the table features Catalin plastic jewelry
I totally meant to go to this. Glad the UA-cam algorithm got something right and brought this up.
Find a “ Repair Cafe “ in your area they may have a Textile repair person Google it
Fascinating. My younger sister loves hat pins but doesn't watch computer programs like this so will miss out seeing this.---It was unfortunate that the camera spotlights of her various examples wasn't better coordinated because I got a bit cross-eyed when the camera went swinging while trying to capture what she was showing. And wouldn't it have been nice to have posters with ladies wearing those huge hats on display on easels behind her? Also, I was a bit frustrated with her answer about where she bought her pins...I was hoping for something like "thrift stores, antique shops, on-line vendors", etc.
This is an awesome video. Thank you. I have my grandmother's vanity china which includes a hand painted portrait of her at 5yrs old ....painted right on one of the pieces. Done in 1894. Many odds and ends jewelry as well. Though it's priceless to me I'm curious about the value..thanks again for this video
How do I ask he a specific question?
I learned so much and this women (I didn’t catch her name) is adorable ❤
Her name is Stephanie, and she will be doing another class this year, 2024, so keep an eye out!
No disrespect, but this was way too long and got very boring
❤
Thank you. Learned a lot
This was such an interesting class! Thanks for sharing with us!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed this and learned some things. I know of some things that should have been told. For Fenton, they started the raised stamp in the 70s.
Thank you. Please do more like this! 🏵️
Answer I t took 14 hrs to do a cordial glass ..they had hot and cold factorys hot would make the peice cold did the cuttings.
you didnt give prices
True. Replacements is very pricey.
Wow, is that the artistry of just one person!
Why thank you, yes it is!
Just discovered your channel. Fantastic info! Thank you. I would add one thing if you’re going to continue on UA-cam and I do hope you do! Please don’t forget your online viewers. It was difficult to see some of the items because they weee so far away from that camera.
Could be useful with some close ups. Can't se anything in this video.
How do you test for bakelite
I didn’t know old Fenton isn’t marked and that older milk glass has an orange ring when held up to the light.
We are glad you were able to learn something new!
😊❤👩🏻🦳👍‼️
Awesome! Thank you❤!
You are so welcome!
My wife and I will carefully review your video and post a critique as a separate comment asap.
Did you do a critique?
@@sashafrodo I started to write up the critique, but I was sidetracked by a bout with Covid-19, and then my father took ill and passed away which pushed a lot of things to the back burner. I will rewatch the video, take a fresh set of notes, and try to get the critique back for your review. I apologize for the delay.
What a fun color scheme!
Thank you!
Tastefully done, but hard to wrap my mind around this one!
I enjoy the class but would like to have zoom in on items examples speaker is showcasing and microphone in audience to hear questions as well. Thanks for the info.
Im a dealer, you are spot on. and Yes, my library of REFERENCE BOOKS are valuable. however prices have fallen in recent years , so I have to compensate for that.
Cool
Very basic video on glass! Should of picked one or two types of glass and given information on them!
