It is kind of scary how inside my head you are with almost all of these reviews. The only exception is One Piece. I tried the anime, failed to appreciate it as much as others. So no interest in the live action. But other than that...my opinions perfectly, almost too perfectly, align with your own. That almost never happens. I will say something about Village. For some reason, I kept thinking there was another layer of the film that I was missing. Something that I might "get" if I were Japanese. It was not an awful film, or anything like that.

I enjoy watching Korean dramas on Netflix more than Japanese shows.

The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House is a great series a must watch. Do not watch Terrace House Tokyo, the producers drove one of the members of the cast on the show to suicide after they pressured her to act as an antagonist on the show. They were never held accountable and your should support a show who had no care it caused a death.

I stopped watching Terrice House after the Female wrestler commited Scide, I blame the show to a degree so wont watch again.

Great choices, of which I've watched many. Some of these, like Midnight Diner and Makenai, are some of my favorite series anywhere. I'd also suggest the Fukushima disaster docudrama The Days, Quartet, Followers, and the KyoAni masterpiece Violet Evergarden

Midnight diner, samurai gourmet, and the beautiful The Makanai. Ah Rashomon, a classic all my favorites that I can watch over an over, any time.

Ok turns out almost half of recommended here already watched by me. I thought these are gems though, and might not suit other people. However like it when people also agrees they are actually that good.

The biggest mistake Netflix makes is dubbing good films and tv, it's truly awful and it's always crass irritating American voices, I much prefer to read subtitles, I cannot watch the actors mouths doing one thing while an alien American voice says something else.

I also really enjoyed the Japanese Show, Smoking on Netflix.

I have seen some of these Japanese films and have learned a level of customs,norms and cultural values. I have greatly enjoyed watching Japanese movies 😊

I watched an Anime "Made in Abyss". It turned adult so suddenly and so ruthlessly i couldn't watch it anymore. I am trying to switch off the empathy to be able to continue watching. It caught me.

I also have a recommendation - Yakuza and the Family with Ayano Go in the main role. The storyline, camerawork, charapters just everything is so amazing! Totaly love it.
