    I think this part of the examination is only the beginning of the 3rd part! 1) 1st practical shooting with 2 arrows - everyone has his own target - you have to hit. If you hit with correct technique you have to do a 2) written and oral exam If you do it well and know all the answers... 3) 2nd practical examination with 2 arrows - three archers - one target (hitotsu mato sharei) - you have to hit. Everyone can understand, that often only 1 of 50 archers pass this exam.

      You can hear if they hit the target or not, but if you can’t do that then you can look in the back and see if the guy put an X (miss) or O (hit)… or just don’t watch if you can’t enjoy it; don’t come on here and call it a waste of time when the video is for people who actually care.

      All I can say is that your comment is a waste of time since you don't understand that the hall process is about perfecting an art passed down from generation to generation,is not just about hitting a target is about perfecting ich step to achive a state of zen,where the mind is completely focused and unperturbed,and with ich step they take the aim is to rich perfection with less effort.They aim is perfecting the art of archery.

      Maybe I can help with the ending. He stands around for two hours, starring at his target. Then he takes another fifteen minutes to ready the arrow, yet another ten to shoot. He misses the target by an inch and realizes that he could have spent his time learning something of value instead.

      Are you asking how they score the shots or are you asking how the grade the archers? The shots are only hit or miss but that is not what is important. Posture, breathing, elegance and technique are what really matters.

    the point isn't to actually hit the target, which brings me to my second point , this is ceremonial, you'd think they would do this elaborate stuff to hunt or in an actual Battle field? use your logic people, common sense, though common sense is not common.......

    •  7 років тому

      martin saenz The point is precisely to hit the target.

    • @florinbaiduc
      @florinbaiduc 7 років тому

      if I may, what makes you think the point not being about hitting the target? The point is to do everything in an absolute flawless, perfect manner, for getting the 8th Dan. That means and includes, of course, hitting.

    • @ownageDan
      @ownageDan 5 років тому

      welcome to correct me, but from my understanding the point is to hit the target without ~trying~ to hit the target

    • @rachelai2523
      @rachelai2523 4 роки тому

      I somewhat agree. The point is to perfect stillness within yourself. The ability to hit the target merely serves to visibly reflect how well you can maintain that stillness and calm concentration/meditation in yourself so that you're not trying so hard to hit the target. This goes for any arts / "-do" (kendo, judo, shodo, sado). So yes you are meant to hit the target, but I don't think that's the "point" of kyudo

    • @Mattsretiring
      @Mattsretiring 3 роки тому

      Here's the grading requirements: www.ikyf.org/rule.html Seems the ability to consistently hit the target should be mastered by 5th dan. If it wasn't important, I'm guessing old mate wouldn't bother recording the shots in the background

The zone was forbidden to circulation until recently. Now open to traffic as it links Minamisoma to Iwate and there is no other road. It is forbidden to stop the car.
