Why YOU Will Regret Moving to Columbus, Ohio
I disagree with alot of this. Define safe or best? I’ve lived in Columbus for over ten years in every neighborhood. You can live in the short north/italian village area and to me it’s equally unsafe as hilltop. Sure Hilltop has sketchy area with crackheads/hookers. However short north/ Italian village your car will be broken into everyday, as well as the every other weekend homicide. You can’t argue it’s safe when there have been so many shootings there recently. Or argue that the cutesy artsy area is a plus when that is where many shootings occur. I also personally would rather live in the hilltop than Franklinton, much less random sketchy traffic and hilltop has more neighborhood feel. Also hilltop and franklinton are extremely close to downtown and short north, which you fail to mention as a positive. I just find this somewhat biased and from a macro view.
Nothing beats Miamis traffic. We’re looking into moving to Columbus and so far the traffic concerns are residential traffic in Miami, so this’ll be a breeze 😂
I have a Agent partner of mine in Miami. He lives in the 33131 area, and he drove just a ZIP Code away, told me it took him over three hours Pretty crazy

Ohio’s weather is great compared to north east coastal cities where humidity and weather fluctuations are more crazy. It’s cold but feels sunnier than New England
Totally agree! Ohio definitely has a more balanced vibe. The cold is manageable, and those sunny days really make a difference-New England can keep its moody weather! Where do you live in Columbus - or are you thinking of moving?
Keep quiet 🤫
Offffff, what exactly? 👀👀
Cleveland is the tech hub of Ohio not Columbus and data centers do not employ people therefore they don't create real actual jobs
Hey, I get it-Cleveland has a lot going for it, especially with its growing tech scene. But Columbus is really stepping into its own as Ohio’s innovation hub. It’s not just about tech jobs here; we’ve got a diverse range of industries thriving, like trade, professional services, and hospitality. With big names like Intel and Amazon investing heavily, the city is setting up for long-term success. While data centers might not create tons of direct jobs, they attract businesses and talent, helping the economy grow. Add in the energy of Ohio State, a great arts and food scene, and an affordable cost of living, and Columbus offers a balance that’s hard to beat. Both cities are great, but Columbus just has that special something. Are you in Columbus or Cleveland?
More on the gravity project please :)
Be my pleasure!! Is there anything specifically you want me to focus on, or just the overview?
Overview is good
@@andy_hay Sounds good! Once I make the video, I will reach out to you guys and gals - does that sound good?
The good.. Hilliard, Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, Reynoldsburg, etc. the bad.. some parts of west Columbus, east Columbus, north Columbus, Hilltop, stay away from Demorest, The bottoms.. I lived in the capital city for 17 years and would never move back.
What specifically about cap city do you dislike?
Also - i think Reynoldsburg is a pretty hidden gem (there is so much development happening there its pretty nuts : )

real estate taxes are outrageous.if you dont have kids look elsewhere
Absolutely, real estate taxes in Upper Arlington can be high-if schools aren’t a priority, nearby areas could be better options. For instance, Grandview Heights has similar amenities but a tax rate of around 2.3% compared to Upper Arlington’s 2.9%. Marble Cliff is also close by and has a unique tax setup that can offer a bit of relief. For more budget-friendly options, check out Hilliard and Worthington. Both have tax rates around 2.2%, are just a short drive from Upper Arlington, and offer great community perks without the same high tax load. :)

The University of Texas, located in Austin, actually has a larger student body than Ohio State, which gives Austin an edge over Columbus in terms of its university and the sense of camaraderie it creates for the city. However, people coming from out-of-state who didn't attend either Ohio State or UT may find that 'camaraderie' a bit off-putting, as it can make the city feel more like a college town. A stronger argument in favor of Columbus would be that it has both an NHL and an MLS team, while Austin only has an MLS team. But what you didn’t address-and I wanted to talk about-is the climate. I suspect that many people moving south to Austin might be drawn by what they assume is a better climate. However, I’d argue that Columbus actually has the advantage in this area, given its more temperate location. While many think they dislike the colder winters (which are becoming milder due to global warming), summer heat and humidity are much harder to bear. Austin’s weather in April and October is similar to Columbus’s July and August, but Columbus doesn’t experience anything like Austin’s heat from May to September. (June, July, and August in Austin are especially brutal.)
You’re totally right. When doing my research, I guess I never actually sort out the universities differences. I agree, the sense of camaraderie can obviously play a massive roll, when seeing how it fluctuates, and the flow behind it As for the weather, the colder months have definitely gotten warmer. Even today, in November, we are obviously still seeing a massively warm atmosphere. Even today, it’s supposed to be 73° For me, I’ve always enjoyed the winter (there’s just something about wearing a pea coat, and layering clothes on top of each other) It’s an interesting point that you brought up, you can control the cold by wearing more clothes but, you cannot control the heat by taking more off. Do you currently live in Columbus, or in Austin? And what do you think about the ladder?
thecolumbusreport.com
I don't see anything special about Columbus I was born and raised there moved away the reason it's so cheap because where it's located there's no scenery terrible weather no beaches and no mountains and super cold when I was living there I got sick too often now live in Honolulu a much better place
I’ll respond in the morning :) What’d you think of the video?
Sorry, I’m just getting around to this Columbus,is one of those places that has something for everyone in my opinion but like without feeling overwhelming. The neighborhoods are super diverse-like the Short North, with cool art galleries, grab a bite at spots like The Pearl, or enjoy live music at Gallery Hop. If you’re more into nature, the Scioto Mile offers great trails with views of the skyline, and fall makes it even more beautiful. Ohio State football brings the whole city together, whether you’re at a game or tailgating nearby. It’s a city that feels both lively and laid-back, making it a great place to live. :)
Hey guy! Also Oktoberfest and Bucyrus Oktoberfest too! Short north arts district. Buckeye lake is about an hour east on I 70. Checkout the drive up 315 from 270 outerbelt… take 315 all the way to Delaware. The Ohio historical society at the fairgrounds is also awesome. The conservatory on East broad st downtown heading east on e broad st. I’m trying to think of more… anywhere around high st from German village north to clintonville and worthington
Those are the places worth living alright!!! What kind of videos would YOU want to see? :)
Should I go to the Oktoberfest and document?
No mountains in Columbus , you have 2 different air masses and currents.
