Balatro: A casual 35 round playthrough explaining the game
It had been a while since I streamed any Balatro so I decided since it was GOTY in some places that I should show it off to my newer followers in hopes that they would be interested in the joys of Balatro. It's nothing that special. I just play a solid round explaining things and taking questions but if you want a chill Balatro video here's one.

in these randos.. if you get a green 20 rupees.. that means that was a progressive item but the difficult setting limits u from getting all of them.. like both tunics will be in the game but you can only get the blue tunic and the other progressive will turn into the 20 green rupees.. same with sword and shield progressives.
thanks for the info. I hadn't played with the settings like that until the daily so hadn't run into them before. it makes sense to mark it in some way so it's good to know that signifies a progressive item limited.

Yes, it's just a timing based fight right now. That being said the creator of dungeons of infinity has said that he is working on a new version of the boss fight.

glad I could help. There are so many little things you can do to make your runs go better. It's really the brilliance of the game. Easy to understand but plenty of things to learn to master.

yeah that room was rough. I survived it but it basically sealed how the rest of the run was going to go lol
The rod of stone will also freeze the orange spike rollers. While your in the room.

Ha ha. The bonuses are all decently balance, but I wouldn't be surprised if down the line people figure out how to modify stuff.
A couple thoughts: It's still so weird that you bounce off swords and hurt enemies through their shields. :p For the pendant of secrets, there could be secrets that *require* the pendant to open. Like, it would allow walking through a wall that isn't otherwise passable. Or some items might just spawn when you walk near spawn locations with it, or "search" objects. Not having the lamp makes spectating sad. 😢 I definitely don't like the non-aligned slot machine. I definitely love the left equipment slots, though! It would be cool if you could blow up the beamos with a bomb like in OOT instead of immune like ALTTP. Being able to freeze them with the stone rod is cool, though.
No lamp will indeed be a weird one that is going to likely have to be carried by me for spectating as it's going to be so hard to follow it. As for the slot machine I will need to mess with it more, but I can't deny it felt a bit weird that it didn't snap in place. I didn't get anything to line up in general, but I wonder how exact it needs to be to pay out something.
I would love a second phase to the final boss, a Gannon phase, in which one can retrieve about half of one's items at random just for that fight.

I'm glad someone appreciates the time stamps :). I know I personally prefer it when a video over like 10 minutes has timestamps so I always try to include them. Just makes it easier to come back to if I don't fit it all in one watch.

How can you tell if you have a pushable block?
I should have a video up later this week to go through it properly (my most recent stream of the game was more of a tutorial one) but for quick text version, on the blocks at the top left and top right there are two pixels of light brown color. On the ones that are pushable the block is missing a pixel of the light brown on both the top right and top left of the block.
Hiding screwdrivers or batteries seems like such a fruitless endeavor, there are so many of them.

If I was going to use a custom sprite for a gamba run, it would be Setzer Gabbiani.
Btw been working on twilight midna sprite for awhile, still messing with it but you could test it if want, trying to make it perfect before I release it to alttpr

Probably late but I did manage to get everything running, only issue is the auto tracker just decides to stop working randomly otherwise everything you sent helped me start so thank you
glad to hear you got it working. with emo tracker it works better if you use sni (super nintendo interface) and then lua script connect the tracker via that if you aren't using that

hey haru. i've watched a few of your DoI vids here. it's been pretty chill. just starting this one up right now and my initial opinion is that the game screen is so much smaller this way. it makes it quite difficult to see unless full screened. i definitely prefer the horizontal layout, but whatever works for you :) thanks for playing this game. it's really cool but i'm really bad at these type of games xD
I appreciate the feedback. This one was a test to see how people felt about it so all feedback is welcome. I might try it out for a bit to see how people feel overall. I have the plus that normally I will still be streaming in horizontal on twitch if people prefer that layout. Though I know that's not ideal for some so I also will likely be uploading any stream I do this way fairly quickly into a horizontal video as well as I'm able to record these in horizontal while streaming vertical. I ultimately hope that between the options while live and the videos after the fact it will work for most as I at least have to try out the vertical a little after how much success some of my friends have had with it. That all being said I'm not planning on forcing every stream into vertical. If I don't have a good way to fit a game in vertical I def won't be streaming that way (which really is most games that are designed to be wide screen) but the link to the past ones fit decently on there. This all being said I'm glad you are enjoying my plays of them, and I hope you have a great day.

I wish the video poker had a slight bias to make the odds favorable to the player but also a max limit total payout of something like net 500 rupees. Games with unbiased odds aren't usually worth the time of players who can just make money elsewhere in the game with net positive expected returns.
yeah, I tend to always prefer gambling that is stacked in the player's favor. Most of the time that it's done that way you also have unique currency for it that can't be turned back. So instead of a limit on what you can win you get a limit on what you can buy such as dragon quest. A similar system could be put in place here where maybe you can earn a few random chests through playing, but it works fine as it is. Just not something I currently engage with much compared to something I might engage with if the run isn't going well.
I love that you are out here doing the challenges, and yet I finally got my first win under my belt after 45 attempts with any help I could find ha ha. Keep up the great work on pushing yourself to master this game. I can't wait to see what 1.7 or 2.0 brings us
Just want to say first, congrats on your win. It's not an easy task :) As for what the next version brings. I know the next version should include at least 5 new official challenges. I also know that a new route/third boss is in the works but I don't know if that makes it in the next version. I also know blessings that last for the floor are coming but again not sure on if they make it in the new update. There might be a bit more but those are just the things I remember off the top of my head that Justin mentioned.
Arguably the hook shot is like a shorter range bow without needing ammo. I'd still like to see if it has more secrets tho.
I do feel like the hookshot has some uses, but I still need to mess with things to figure out how it differs from the boomerang (which I also don't use a bunch) I have no doubts that in the right hands it can be a useful tool, but in my hands it changes the enemy patterns as they will come out of stun when hit or after so much time. So the end result is it's mostly a wash for me as for all the times it would protect me some there are times it causes me damage because the enemies move slightly different than I expect. I personally just find bow or rods better because I don't find so many times that I want to use an item like that I would choose the temp solution of the hookshot over the kill from the bow or rod, though it is quite useful for the room with a bunch of little things.

I love to experiment with stuff. Sometimes it's in the name of chaos too, but I'm not usually the type to just figure out one way to play and stop. I'll figure out my ideal way and go back to it a lot of times but I always love leaving the door open to try stuff and always more than happy to try something out if someone wants me to.

Just to help with combat: 1> jump [vertical 30:20] attack is the best at the start of game (spinning requires magic [manual circular using controls, not holding a button] is best horizontal one) they are different and with different purposes... (their drop rewards for the "stick" plants are nuts/sticks, for example) 2> nuts are best [anti-foe] weapon for young Link ==> stuns are powerful cc, making fights easier and good for speedruns. 44:20 3> "z" lock-on is very important and it cuts out a step if you incorporate it into combat/navigation/item acquisition [gold skulltulas]. 😊 3:15:00 4> sticks are a weapon type (convertible to a torch) with longer range than kokiri sword. 43:18 5> bombs can be picked up and thrown... use z to aim properly. 6> Zora princess is a weapon type of great power... throw her at foes... no joke. 7> boomerang stuns/damages dangerous foes (electric ones) 40:49 bomb this door. 45:18 Queen Gohma => use nuts or slingshot and follow with jump slash after locking on with "z". (Focus on the eye, react accordingly, prevent egg laying) this is an easy or hard fight if you don't know mechanics. 2 cycles, no damage is good. Sequence breaking is possible, but not problematic. If you don't "hit" the correct story "flags", it won't progress. Good luck! Day/night is a roadblock until later. (Songs) 1:16:28 Shaking/bombing near trees is important for finding secrets. Water holds many items, rupies, and secrets... look under it. Windows in Hyrule Castle have people, Easter eggs, and rupies. 1:32:22 grass reed... like in Twilight Princess. 2:55:50 throw bomb flower from here into spinning clay jar. ✔ ✅ 😅 3:01:10 kill mini dodongo near bomb-able door to the right. 3:33:44 Epona song is used on animals: cows, horses, etc. 3:58:00 frogs like songs... play all of them for a heart piece 4:48:40 use the 2 boxes in the room to keep the button pressed. Fairy in bottles prevent deaths. They can be summoned at 1 eyed statues (mask quest). Do everything before going back towards the castle. Many quest chains and side quests need completion. **boomerang can be used to do the skulltulas glitch if you find a hole (that has a token behind a bombable door). Throw the boomerang and backflip onto the teleport light out of the cave hole. (This collects the token and you can repeat this process to endlessly collect the same token forever) save often when doing glitches.** If you need help, I will try to watch in the future... many older Zelda games were conquered in my youth. Link is my brother.😅

Pause works in boss fights, btw. Use "z" more and switch targets is key in boss battle with multiple aggressive targets. <Barinade>

In the download folder there is a data folder. In the data folder a character folder. in there is folders 1-9 as well as skins. You just take a sprite sheet from skins and drop it into one of the folders numbered 1-9 to replace that slot in the game (one sprite per folder)

Challenges I am proud of achieving on all original hard copies of console games. 1> Zelda 1 without sword [quest 1 and 2] no deaths. 2> Zelda 2 [lvl 7 sword lvl 1 magic lvl 1 heart] before beating any [6] temples and 23 lives after Dark Link (no deaths), speedrun with no damage ~ 4 hours... he he he. I hate blue slimes! 17 resets to them. 3> Ocarina of Time (without gold skulltulas (maxed out) glitch) no deaths 4> all masks/check marks in story log in Majora's Mask. ~ 13 ingame time incursions. Beat final boss with all 4 race masks (with no damage). [No deaths]
