Fingers crossed that my RDB cutting is going to make it. Not looking good.
Sorry to hear that, I hope it makes it.
woe your ronde bedou looks beautiful and your trees takes off so fast.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you like the Ronde de Bordeaux, I hope you will grow one.
Where do you grow these fruits? Warmer climates? It looks delicious.❤
I grow them in warmer climate, zone 8. Thank you for watching.
My wife!!
Thank you for watching
Eretabe, hope you well?I love the colors, names so many diffent names. My mouth watering this side, lol.
Hahaha Sabree you are funny. How many varieties do you want to have?
First year having figs on our 600M, they were very good.
Yes, good variety.
Hello brother. Thank you for taking the time to make this informative video. Just wanted to follow up and see if your cuttings survived and successfully rooted next spring? Thanks for reading
Thank you so much for asking, it didn't survive because the inside of the cutting was infested with disease.
Same strain as VDB
You are right. Thank you for watching
I need a cutting from Ronde fig please ....how can I get cuttings from different trees u have
Ronde de Bordeaux fig trees are still small but other varieties I can get you. When do you want to root the cuttings?
I can only Imagine such a variety of Figs to Taste from 💜💜💜 AuntieEllen
Thank you for watching Ms. Ellen
Wow you loss so many. Nice taste test. Wife wants to eat fig😂❤
Thank you so much
Im so sorry to hear of your loss Eretabe.
Thank you so much. Hopefully next year you will make videos of your fig tree.
@eretabegardens yes indeed,as i said we have the patience.Have a blessed evening.
Thank you very much Eretabe for the video as i was one of the people who asked you about the time period figs produces fruits,i think one of the reasons my tree did not yet produce fruits is that the pot is small for the tree.My tree is bigger than most of your 6month old cuttings but yes i do have the patience as its theeaning of my name, lol.
I'm glad your name means patience because with figs you need it. Next spring up pot your figs tree to a 5 gallon container.
@eretabegardens definite Eretabe, the roots is coming out by the drainage holes.Whats your opinion on that?
Hello! I’m in zone 6b in Rhode Island and my figs were all done fruiting over a week ago and we had a Indian summer! And just yesterday I stored fifty fig plants in my root cellar for the winter 🥶 they survived 100% last year!
That’s great you’re able to store your plants in a root cellar!
Does it taste like peach?
It has a unique taste, I won't say peach flavor. In California where the tree was found has fig wasp and that might make it have peach flavor.
👍🏼 Thank you, Sir. You are a gentleman and a helpful person.
Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate you watching.
Trees look good Ben, figoin only gets a little bigger than a nickel.
Thanks. Figoin figs are small yet it is expensive.
Great info and highlights! Hope you are well. I have a friend who has a Black Mission that's never produced as well. Hoping my will next year (year 3),
Thanks, and I hope your tree produces some tasty figs next year! My OBH fig is doing well.
@@eretabegardensGod bless you for the effort and time you took out to especially make this video.Have a great day.
Cut those Black Mission trees down to the ground to stimulate new branching. It may help get figs. Might try before getting rid of them. Also, I think Macool is a dark fig. The one you're holding looks like an Adriatic type. Enjoyed the video and your accent. Reminds me of my friend George Kiraga when I was in Kenya. Best.
Thank you so much for the advice, I'll try that! Thank you for watching and the compliment. I'm from Nigeria.
Hey eretabe, after how long does a fig tree produce fruits please?
It can produce figs same year or following year. Few might take longer not because figs takes longer to produce figs but the tree itself has problem. I will be posting new video of fig cuttings that I rooted and produce figs after 6 months.
@eretabegardens hey wow,thanks .Much apreciated.

They say it takes 3 to 5 years for figs to bear on it
That's not true. The LSU Gold fig you bought this year, wait for it next year and see the figs on it next year.
Me to I thought of the fig tree in the Bible I just planted a LSU golden fig I was going to buy a brown turkey fig tree to
Brown Turkey taste good too. Thank you for watching.
Thanks so much for the information..God bless you
You are very welcome! God bless you too.
Good
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Awesome!
Thank you!
Great harvest Ben GOD BLESS
Thanks! God bless you too.
Very nice 💚👨🏿🌾
Thank you so much
They should improve a lot in taste and quality after a few years. I`ve never seen such a fast growing tree. I trimmed mine back and it grew like crazy and the cutting from it planted in the ground March 10 is already a very large bush. I planted 5 Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry trees this year too. The fruits are really good even when still partially red and they also grew very large and are over 12 feet tall with 2 inch thick trunks and they were tiny green twigs in March. Very easy to root. They love to be pruned so I`m cutting three of them back by half this winter and leaving the others for the wild birds. You can force them to fruit after the first fruit set is gone by cutting back branches by half and stripping most of the leaves to get 3 crops per season.
Wow, that's impressive growth! What type of fertilizer did you feed them with?
My cutting planted in March from last years`s Brown Turkey tree made a lot of figs. I`m still picking them here in Louisiana. Mine taste like very sweet peaches. Baby birds bit 90% of the tiny green figs off the big tree and a lot from the new tree. I didn`t know what was doing it. I saw the birds and got mesh row covers to wrap the trees. I cover the ripening figs with organza bags. Some of mine split too from the humidity at night but the bags protected them from bugs.
It sounds like you have a productive Brown Turkey fig tree and it's great to hear they taste so good! I'm surprised to hear that baby birds bit 90% of the tiny green figs. Try and reduce the height of the tree this winter. I'm glad you used the organza bags.
Great vid brotha
Thank you so much
Enjoy. I ate one today like you which wasn’t ripe but good.
Hi Nafi. Yes this is the season of eating figs that are not too ripe because of cold weather.
Hi Ben, I need your advise as usual. It’s October 28 2024. I am live in suburbs of NY. 1. What month I can prune my fig trees? 2. I have three fig small trees in the pots. Can I plant them in the ground now, or should I wait till spring? Please help. Thanks
1, Prune your trees in Winter when all of the leaves have fallen off which means all the nutrients have been stored in the roots and when you cut a small piece of the branch and there is no sap then you are good to go. 2, Wait till Spring, protect your trees from cold now and plant them in Spring when the stored nutrients in the roots are back into the stem and branches, producing new leaves. So that the new roots will do well in the soil.
@@eretabegardens thanks so much. I appreciate your kind cooperation.
@@nafisanabiel2457 You are welcome.
Hi what season should you do this, is mid spring still ok?
Early and mid season is ok.
@@eretabegardens Thank you👍
Looks great!
Thanks!
Are those leaves right for Olympian fig trees? Those leaves look like Violette de Bordeaux or Beer`s Black?
It is Olympian fig trees.
Good day i am AJ Miranda BSIT Student in Dominican college of Tarlac ma'am can i ask permission to use your video to put on our capstone project is educational purposes only thank you
You are welcome to use this video for educational purposes.
I covered my Brown Turkey tree when it got very cold but this year it`s way too big to cover. I planted a cutting from it and 4 more trees that were supposed to be Celeste but they sent me the wrong kind. No fruits from them this year so it will be next year before I can see the fruits. Some have large slender long 5 finger leaves with 2 spurs on the back and some have spade leaves. Who knows what they are...either Violette de Bordeaux, Black Mission or Magnolia are my best guesses. A waste of at least two or three years.
It’s always a gamble when you’re ordering trees online, I feel your pain! Hopefully you will like the figs that they produce.
@@eretabegardens They may be Beer`s Black or Violette de Bordeaux which are basically identical. They`re breba producers and slow growers with tightly spaced leaf nodes. I see the double nodes for breba figs on the old wood. So I believe I`ve identified them after hours of research. If I`m right they will be good trees. Berry figs. The biggest tree with the large finger leaves has started producing the spade leaves above them on the same stem so all indicators say it`s the "Beer`s Black" (VDB) listed as one of the figs this nursery has. So maybe I got lucky.
@@eretabegardens My Brown Turkey tree produced both Brown Turkey figs and Olympian figs this year. Very strange! One branch made very large lighter colored greenish/yellow figs with a slight purple tint on top with an amber interior that tasted like peaches and other branches produced dark purple sugar figs with a red interior. No hollow spot inside. If it does it again next year I`m taking cuttings of the branch with the peach flavor.
that a nice looking fig
Thanks.
Hello my friend i also have a martanica Rimada still hanging on. Blessings
That's awesome! They are so delicious.
Is this from Duluth ? I might have bought from the same gentleman
Yes from Duluth. It should be the same seller. He has about 5 fig trees at the front of his house.
Just 5 hmmmm maybe different seller, the guy I bought from has 10+ trees that Very Large He’s and older gentleman maybe in his 70s
@@JuanGarcia-hz9xl Is he from Palestine?
Yes
@@JuanGarcia-hz9xl We are talking about the same seller.
Great recap on these figs.
Thank you so much.
Thank you sir, I appreciate it! 😊
You are welcome. Glad it was helpful. Remain Blessed my friend.
Hi Ben, Thank you for sharing another wonderful fig vid, I actually love the the thick skin on this fig! GOD bless you my friend!
Hi Jorge. It's good to hear from you. Thank you so much, I appreciate you!
Abdul said When he tasted my Black Madeira he said it had a Smokey flavor. You can tie the organza bag to the tree but I have had them rip holes in the bags.
Interesting! I wonder where the smokey flavor comes from.
He got jam made only with Black Madeira figs and said it was smoky and thought they added something but after tasting the fresh fig it had the same taste to him. To me it is not that sweet and has a rich earthy taste. Abdul loves WM#1 he picked it out of 6 different green figs that looked the same. I thought no way he was going to be able to taste and tell me which one was WM#1.
Nice! They look delicious
Thanks! They were.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Does fig trees need to be grafted or polinated?
You can graft it if you want to. Common figs doesn't need pollination except smyrna figs.
Wow. Thank you for the information
You are welcome. Glad it was helpful!

Sorry about that.
