Sean Fraser was somewhat to blame for not responding to the mess fast enough when he started the job as Immigration minister, but Conservatives need to put Marco Mendicino in the light for screwing up the immigration system. He is the one to blame, more than Trudeau.

Why don’t you grant India the “Safe third country” status like the UK has done? No need to process asylum claims from India at all. I say this as a Canadian national of Indian origin. People of Indian origin trying to claim asylum here are really just economic migrants trying to take the easy route and take advantage of the utter naïveté of the Canadian immigration system.

They should stop allowing refugee claims from within Canada and if a student or a visitor applies for asylum they should be detained and deported immediately along with a 5 year ban
