Not sloppy at all. The pilot is countering the wind. Land too fast and you crash. Land too close to trees and the lower level wind will shove you against them. Hover prior landing to ensure stability. A good pilot prepares for conditions seen. An experienced pilot prepares for conditions unseen and adapts to whatever happens as it happens. I have loved helicopters since I was a child. A lack of funds has kept me from being a pilot. I do however have several pilot friends and they are like gods in my eyes. HEMS pilots are the unsung heroes in thousands of auto and other accidents where a patient needed medical attention in minutes for survival.
