    Having 100,000 people in one list is meaningless. Having 20,000 in one list is meaningless. That's a spammer's strategy for throwing shit into a fan. Lists need to be targeted! People love telling you how they like their ego stroked. True story, a brick company in NJ puts out a calendar every year with B list models. What's their slogan? Our bricks get laid. Think about how you can use that. You want a calendar? You have to get on a sales rep's lists. Every month the company holds an event for customers buying $X amount and the model for that month attends that event. Do you think they're buying their bricks from anyone else?

    Lists are killer tools if you work them correctly and that really depends on what you're into. An email promotion is a great way to prospect contacts for leads. Customer is interested in getting a deck installed and the sale fizzles. You can contact them 6-9 months later to ask if they ever got the deck done and you can segue into sending guys out to go seal the deck. If they blow it off, then you need to hook them another way so you should be looking for new angles to sell them. When you run out of ideas or opportunities, that's when you offer them resources like BBQ recipes but at every point they're moving to a new list/classification because they're either falling into or out of your sales funnel. Never use a list as a generic contact sheet. That's exactly what spam is and nobody likes spam. So then you get blocked and all you did was slow down your company's mailing.

    This was very helpful! You laid this out very well. I am currently using Convert Kit - but still new to ACTUALLY using it. I have 150 on my list. Just from sharing a link on my Instagram to sign up. BUT I want to go into freebie funnels so I'm going to look into more services. If you have some videos or a resource for companies to use I'd love to hear!

      As long as your ConvertKit plan supports email automation, you can absolutely use CK for your freebie funnels. The only other tool you'd need would be a landing page builder that integrates with CK. I'm a huge fan of Elementor or Divi (if you use WordPress for your website).
