Looks delicious thank you so much
My pleasure 😊
Hi Kathy - thanks so much for this video, there isn't much like this and I desperately need some advice! I have a large crochet bedspread/tablecloth that I want to turn into a curtain but it means cutting into the pattern (e.g. cutting off the scalloped edge). Would you advise sewing a hem of cotton fabric around the edge, or can you use the blanket stitch with embroidery thread to secure it from fraying do you think? And if I wanted to cut a strip off and resew onto the edge to extend it, what is the best way? It is more like the shrug in this video, so not manufactured crochet but rather actual crochet. Your thoughts are welcomed!
I would say, to cut this, you will need to prevent the pattern from unravelling. I have successfully achieved this once before but it Wasn’t easy. What I have done in the past, is cut the very edge off carefully, with very sharp scissors, and use safety pins to thread through loops of stitches or groups of stitches, to stop them unravelling. Then I have unpicked a couple of rows , repositioning the safety pins through the loops of stitches, to try to retrieve some long lengths of the yarn. I then used those lengths to thread through each of the stitch loops on the pins, to stop it unravelling . Where I could , I used a crochet hook to crochet into each loop and kind of join each stitch to the next one, by threading one stitch loop into the next , all the way along until you reach the end, then thread the yarn through and knot it. You could possibly cut a piece and join it on another area in a similar way, but it will be tricky. You will need to make sure you collect every group of stitches onto safety pins and join them onto the other area with the pieces of yarn you retrieve. If you can do this, you won’t need to bind with hem of fabric. I’d say the hem of fabric alone probably wouldn’t be enough to hold the cut areas in place , unless you support the entire area by ironing it onto fusible interlining first, to stop the stitches unravelling. Then sew the fabric over the edge and zig zag stitch it on your sewing machine to give the best support. Once it’s secured, you can iron the durable interlining to heat it, and gently peel it off down your where the fabric binding is and carefully trim it away. Let me know how you get along with this.
@@Kathykels Thanks Kathy! I'll see how I get on - there is an awful lot of edging to deal with so I don't know if I'll be able to manage with your meticulous method but will let you know what I end up with either way!
@ I often take the long route. It worked but armed with the info, I’m sure you can find a happy medium that works for you. It will look fabulous when you do it.
Lovely Kathy. I will give it a go
What a lovely tribute to the brave military men and women who gave their lives so that we can enjoy ours. Thank you Kathy
Doing this inspired such mindfulness. It gave me time for reflection and appreciation. .
Love everything. Pleae makeca tour of your halloween decor
Oh Thankyou so much. I wondered whether to show all my Halloween decor. I’m still finalising my outdoor decor because I’m setting up a spooky graveyard with smoke , so that will be later today, and I’ll post it. Thankyou
Thank you Kathy You made that look so easy. I will have a go
It’s a good last minute decoration to try.
Wow. So easy and so tasty Kathy. Thank you
It really is!
Lovely ideas Kathy. Quick and pretty. Thank you 👍💓
@@Ivan-ji7tb Thankyou
That pumpkin bowl is adorable.
Thankyou. It was from ‘Next’.
Looks great. So easy. I will definitely have a go. Thank you 😊
It’s always so much nicer when you make it yourself. A unique crafted item to be proud of.
❤️
It was worth the effort. Albeit taking a lot longer than I anticipated lol
Beautiful
My garden isn’t large, and time is limited, but I hoped to show. How you can highlight main areas.
Really cute
I really enjoyed turning this unwearable dress into something so pretty
❤
My aim is to give someone the courage to have a go, as there is no cutting involved…so it’s easily undone if it’s not quite short enough etc
👍
Sometimes it’s just good to laugh at your mishaps. Lol
😊
I really like this Hairband . And it was easy and quick to make.
Beautiful
Thankyou. That place was a hidden gem!
So simple 👍
Thankyou. I hope that by showing it step by step , it would encourage people to try it. There’s nothing more unique than something you create yourself.
Looks great
It’s a simple idea for using and re using with the seasons.
👍
I hoped if I shared, others could also buy before they sold out.
Great ideas 😊
Glad you like them!
Looks delicious. Thank you
This soup is so adaptable. You can add spices to enhance the flavour , or even something as simple as celery salt.
Wonder if cumin would also taste good in this soup.
Oooo now that’s an idea… could try cooking it off with the onion and garlic . I tried carrot and orange a few weeks ago, an unusual combination, but it was gorgeous.
No cream
No definitely not needed. Try it and see , but of course you add cream if you want. I’m vegan but I do add plant based cream to some soup, because it gives a nice smoothness to the flavour. This soup doesn’t need cream and is very healthy.
Witch's broth ?
Haha! Ah you spotted my Halloween soup bowl. Yes, that might make a good thumbnail for my next soup. Thankyou.
That is a lot of carrot discarded! use a potatoe peeler?
Oooo actually that is a very good point! I will . Thankyou .
Very clever Kathy. Looks great I will give it a go. Thanks for the tips
Here in England, the Halloween trend isn’t as big as in USA, and I think we tend to be a bit more conservative in our decor, so it may not appeal to all, but year on year I add a bit more lol.
Tried this soup. It’s beautiful and hardly cost anything. Full of vitamins and minerals
I’m so glad you tried it. I hope it will become a regular make .
Lovely video Kathy. So very interesting. I am going to have a go. Thank you
Please do!
So cute where did you get the cat and witch xx
+@stelladervey8013 thankyou. I got the cat from Amazon( type in cat silhouette). The rich was from Shein online… I think it was about 53p. I just looked , and they have a fabulous cat door decor, like the witch. It’s £1.50 but a good size. Type in ‘Witch door decor’.
That looks really cute! I love how the little bats can move with the breeze too! I am in the US, so I don't think I could find the same cat and witch - but I love what you've done! Thanks for sharing.
I think Shein ( online) deliver to the US (for bat earrings and witch door corner). But Thankyou so much for your comment,
The cat I bought from Amazon. Try typing in ‘cat silhouette ‘. X
That's adorable!
Thankyou . Thats very kind of you .
Oeh, it is really cute!!
Thanks so much.
So cute! I'm 17 and have picked up sewing again after an ardious year of college, instead of making new clothes I've been learning to alter the clothes I already have. Love videos like this! <3
That’s great! And you will have clothes that are unique! Your friend may ask you to help them do it too! I sewed in school and way back then, my step father bought home blue and red faux leather. I was like 16, and i made hot pants!!’ Haha … blue with a red heart. I thought they were fabulous! My Mom not so !!! lol. Thanks for your comment, and keep going..
Can't hear half of what you said.
Oh I’m sorry to hear that. I appreciate your input so I can improve in future. What was the problem ? I had turned down the volume of my voice where I had voiced over in parts of the video as it seemed quite loud. Maybe I shouldn’t have?. Thankyou for taking the time to comment. That’s useful. Let me know what impaired your hearing if you would.
Fascinating stuff. We are so lucky to have such a rich history here in England.
Yes indeed!
Very pretty doorway. You have some lovely Easter decor.
Thankyou so much.
You've done an amazing job with your planters. The flowers are so pretty, good choice of colours.
Thankyou . I try to have different colours each summer .
We have the same burner, might have to steal that idea, great job. I like the caterpillar story. We have tons of snails, so I threw a few over the six foot fence into my neighbours unkept garden, not realising she was there! "Hey what do you think you're doing?" she said. Caught out, I had to say I was throwing them at my husband who kept ducking, ha,ha, five times!
Hahaha!!! Ohhh I’d have said the same lololol. Yes go ahead and use any useful ideas . That burner was my Sons. He lives at home still and had a lot of mental health issues a few years ago, and liked to sit outside with a roaring fire … but that little burner wasn’t big enough, so he cast it aside . I have now also displayed the lid for the Chimney , underneath it , nicely oiled with WD40. ( to disguised the wood under it.
Oh my gosh how you suffered for you art! Hope you recovered quickly and there was no lasting damage. What an amazing place, beautiful architecture, just stunning.
I broke my Nose lol. I’m having it re Ibroken and reset on Wednesday under a local anaesthetic… injected between the eyes no less haha!!!Here’s hoping I don’t end up looking like a boxer lol. Thankyou for your kind comment. Yes it’s beautiful. When we went there were all kinds of events going on . Sadly we missed most, but we will go back xx
@@Kathykels Oh no, you poor thing. Good luck for Wednesday, hope all goes well.
Thankyou
Your wreath is absolutely beautiful, what a brilliant idea to use a basket. Thank you for sharing.
Thankyou for taking the time to look.
