I've had this guitar several months. Loved the looks. The richlite fingerboard is actually fantastic. I am a terrible guitar player but this has improved my a lot over cheap guitars I tried to learn on before. Never used the electonics other than the tuner. Koa looks spectacular. The black tuners and headstock are cool, too. I wanted a Nazareth Martin since I live near there, but the price is just too high for somebody at my level. I'll state the obvious, I guess....if you really want to learn guitar buy a good one. This is one.

Hi! I recently bought HD28e after listening to a lot of reviews. I like the tone and resonance a lot, but when I play some notes using my thumb, it just dies out very untimely, almost sounds like a thump. It is prominent on E notes and other notes closer to it on the lower strings, like 7th fret on 5th string and 2nd fret on 3rd string.l, and even the 12th fret on the 6th string. What is it? Could it be fixed any way? I also have same problem with another guitar I own called Merida SPOMCES with solid cedar top, but it is mostly lower G notes and notes around it. I spent a fortune (for me at least) on HD28, but I am a bit disheartened with it. The problem is I got it through a friend in the USA here in another side of the world, and I can't go back to the store to check if it was only my guitar's issue. A luthier here told me about Merdia that it happend because of high resonance of the note and the top just dampens it. Could be the same with the HD28 too? 😢 I would appreciate your any thoughts about it.

I have one and its bad ass. Of course I had to lower the action, but once massaged to my low action preference I can't put it down. I absolutely love the sound and playing it is effortless.

Sounds great in Drop D tuning. I own this guitar and I love the raw tones it produces. It’s great for country blues stuff and many other genres. A Martin for under 2K that is well worth the asking price new. Keep an eye out for great deals on used ones as well. It won’t be much longer before prices on these guitars go way up!

Maybe it's the way it's recorded, but it's almost too much mids-forward. I wish more of these demo videos were done with two or three different mic setups so you could see what they sound like with alternate recording methods. I never mic an acoustic for recording where they have it mic'd here.

I have yet to understand why so many demos of guitars that are a finger style player's dream NEVER actually demo it being played that way.

In the Road series, there only 2 guitars that make sense. This on and the D-12 Sapele. Best bang for the Martin buck. Sapele is the new modern mohagony. Crisp but warm.
