Beatles or Bust
United Kingdom
Приєднався 5 жов 2022
Join me in my quest to learn to play a good acoustic guitar version of every Beatles' song. And join with me as I ponder all things all Beatle.
I'll keep my song arrangements as authentic as possible, and will share the insights I gain into the techniques used by John, Paul, and George in each song.
I'll share my progress each step of the way. I'll show you the chords I play and the picking and strumming patterns I use. I'll give hints and tips on technique, timing, , etc. I'll also tell you about the difficulties and frustrations I face along the way.
I'll also post performances of each and every song so that you can chart my progress, and can play along, if you wish.
Don't worry if you're a beginner or lower intermediate guitar-player. I'm only an intermediate level player myself - albeit one who's willing to study and practise hard.
Let's master the entire Beatles' catalogue on guitar together!

Beatles' Best 50 Song Moments (In My Opinion)
From Paul's exuberant count-in to 'I Saw Her Standing There', the first track on their first album, to John, Paul and George's epic guitar-duel at the end of Abbey Road, these are my top fifty Beatles' song moments.
Watch and listen. If, like me, you're a Beatles fan, you'll heartily approve of some of my choices; you'll perhaps be bemused at some others; and you'll possibly be outraged that some of your personal favourites have been left out.
But whether you agree, partially agree, or have different opinions entirely, let me know in the contents below. We can surely agree that The Beatles had a whole lot of awesome song moments!

Defending Paul McCartney's Frog Chorus (We All Stand Together)
Переглядів 4214 днів тому
Paul McCartney has always been proud of his 1984 children's song, 'We All Stand Together' - a song which formed part of the critically acclaimed short animation 'Rupert and the Frog Song' for which he wrote the script. But the song has many detractors who consider it too twee, too simplistic, uncool, and evidence for his decline as a composer, post-Beatles. In this video I give the case for the...

Rocky Raccoon - an easy and fun-to-play song from The Beatles’ White Album. In it, Paul McCartney uses just five simple chords and an easy-to-learn trademark McCartney strumming and picking style. Join me in my quest to learn to play a good acoustic guitar version of every Beatles' song. Yes - that's EVERY Beatles song! In this case, ROCKY RACCOON from the glorious 'White Album'. I'll keep the ...
It's not right to maximize Paul in a George Harrison song, the impressive thing is the song itself, it's a beautiful song by George and a great guitar solo by him. Paul only plays the bass. I'm talking about The :Something
Yeah, I worded that one a bit clumsily. I wanted to highlight my favourite moment- which is the interplay between George and Paul in the solo. It was a mistake to talk about Paul’s contribution first. Especially since George’s guitar is so sublime. And yes, the song is beautiful.
Why no ‘AND YOUR BIRD CAN SING’?
Could easily have been there. Especially John and George doubling that iconic riff. I guess in a list like mine there was always going to be a load of fabulous stuff left out. But thankfully there’s a comment section. :)
we probably all have those one or two other moments we'd include. For me, one would be the "come on" section in Please Please Me. I've also always loved how they roll the "r" in "roll up" in Magical Mystery Tour. You're absolutely right about the greatest double-sided single of all time!
Agreed. Those are great moments too.
Enjoyable video - but i gotta say at 4:49 they didn't know about Hendrix when Taxman was recorded.
Hmm. Yeah, you’re right. I stand corrected. Much obliged. (So pleased you made it to 4:49 though!)
You just got me thinking about the Taxman solo again. It’s… miraculous!
Amazing and really well worked video. I am a huge Beatles fan and i would be glad to give some ideas uf you'd like!!💯💯
Hey, thanks! It took me quite a while, especially since I know almost nothing about film editing. I’m really glad to hear it wasn’t a waste of time. And ideas - absolutely!
@beatlesorbust001 you're welcome! Some ideas that came in my mind for this video: The George solo on hard days night which still fascinates me The drums on she said she said are also one of my favourites about this song The instrument that is used on In the benefit of mr kite, that gives this kinda creepy and "circus" style sound The beginning of the sgt peppers lonely hearts club band reprise, a guy reacting on yt said it kinda starts like a hip hop beat, which then i realised is kinda true and is crazy for the time it came out "I will" production? Like one of the smoothest sounds we have from the band, maybe comparable with "Here there and everywhere" The reference of "you never give me your money" on "carry that weight" Golden slumbers vocal contradiction? In general the whole medley on abbey road haha That's some stuff that i thiught after your video! Keep on with the great work!!
Totally great ideas. Should have made it ‘60 Awesome Moments’!
Great vid!
Thanks! And thanks for taking the time to comment! :)
Well done mate thank you
My pleasure. And thank YOU for viewing my video!
No😂😂
Well said.
No.
Succinct. Valid. Agreed.
Leave it alone!
My sentiments precisely.
Too long, multiple terrible songs...and yet still a contender for album GOAT. That's TWA in a nutshell; imperfection somehow elevates it.
Good point. I almost titled this video ‘The White Album: Perfect Imperfections’. It’s a paradox.
Blimey, I suggest a few nice funny cigarettes and just sit back and listen to the entire show. Also watch Paul Salzman's film about him and the Beatles while they were writing the album, he actually helped on one song!
I'd like to watch that film. Can you tell me the title? I can see a few videos about Salzman and The Beatles on UA-cam. So, not sure which one to go to.
It's perfect. It came out at a super critical, magical moment in my life. Long story. OK, it would make a great short story.
I totally get that. It has magic, for sure. I for one would like to hear that story. :)
The White Album was a reaction to Sgt Pepper in every way.
You mean, for example, in a return to simplicity in their recordings?
Revolution 9 was, and always will be, dreadful.
There are plenty of people who’d agree with you. If it hadn’t been on a Beatles’ album I’d probably never have gotten through it myself.
Oh FFS, the weakest songs are better than 90% of everything else. That album is a comforting journey!
Agreed.
It's the bloody Beatles White Album shuddup
Couldn’t have put it better myself!
That famous Paul quote indicates brainwash.
Love it 👍
Hey! Thanks. Glad you like it!
A very enjoyable and well taught video. I love the enthusiasm to learn "every" Beatles song, look forward to song 002 👏👏👏
Hey - thanks a lot! I’m psyched to have gotten a comment, and even more psyched to have gotten a positive one. Much appreciated.
