    Do you release the presseure when going to a corner?

    I always see engravers holding it like a pencil. Do ya know anyone that grasps it in there fist an uses their thumb as a pivot like with a Dental handpiece? It certainly works well for going around corners cause You can steady your hand by putting your thumb down on the work and drawing it in an arch around with your thumb as a pivot. Do you know of any "cons" to this technique?

    I think I heard you say you were using a wood block (3.50) which are you using a wood block or aluminum? And does it make a difference? Doesn't the bit itself grind into the block?

    A micromotor will be more fitting for this type of work. It gives untroubled, smooth cutting/marking with long life. M'motors are great, heavy duty work horses. Kavo, Faro, Foredom, NSK are but inky few of these. They are used by dental technicians, jewellers engravers on professional basis. Variable speed 0-35000 rpm, with some even higher totque. gd luck.

    I found a 24" billet Jamey Jordan w/ adj. upper, table, & the industrial VS motor for $1600 that had only been used twice..... Now I'm trying to find out which dies I need to get..... If I go with the Eastwood motorized set they are around $400 for 10 of the more Popular dies.... Or would you recommend I get the Art Roll Kit from MB?? Thanks for the Info and teaching us Newbie's how to do this....

    YO is that making calcium, carbon, iron sulfate, and leaving behind reinforced copper? Or is that just a surface layer of reinforced copper bonded to the inner steel? Either way that's cool

    Hi Steve, Great video, thank you for making it and sharing. 👍 I've just bought a manual bead roller for some panels I have to make for the classic car build. I am a total novice as far as this skill is concerned. I do not have a table with my roller and I will be rolling steel. Do you think the same principle will work for me as regards producing a distortion free panel. I also plan to service my "new to me" roller as it feels a very slightly notchy. Kind regards Paul from 48 Spokes 🇬🇧

    Really informal video. I'd watch more. I just picked up a Power Bead roller. I'm just jumping in and looking for as much info for a bigger to soak up the machine. I'm a welder and fabricator I'd just really like to do more of the body panel and sheet metal work for engine bays along with some decorative art stuff to learn.

    Was this done with a beading die in one pass or an offset in two passes?

    • @ksgjlg
      @ksgjlg 2 роки тому

      Going back and looking at the sharp corners I assume two passes with an offset

    • @fhpdesign87
      @fhpdesign87 2 роки тому

      @@ksgjlg three passes total. Two at a tight die spacing to set the line, and the last ~.100" wider to round it out more. I used mittler brothers stencil dies (pn 202-089)

    • @fhpdesign87
      @fhpdesign87 2 роки тому

      I should specify more on the dies... I actually do not have a normal beading die set for this machine. I do all of it with stencil dies. While it may take twice the mileage to get there, it is less stressful on the panel because you're moving that material at half the load, which is less stretch/draw that it has to provide at a time. The other benefit to this method is I can create any profile I like, so I essentially have an infinite set of "beading dies" with those two stencil dies.

    • @fhpdesign87

      Yes I did on the later passes. That will give you that nice "rolled" edge as opposed to more of a hard cornered "step"

    Great video. Great content. The pressure disc, the way you did it, you also able more twisting force on it. Every step rise the panel center area hight but lower die stays at same hight. Would the twisting be less if started from middle ring first? Thx, Juhani

    • @fhpdesign87
      @fhpdesign87 2 роки тому

      You are correct, it would distort less that way. Doing the outside first locked the panel up and the inner circles pulled on that more causing more distortion. I plan to do some videos on helping that in the future!
