Just before the great invasion of Laker airways there was a gentler and quieter time in the beach resorts of Spain. I would like to add Ronnie Lane for "Tin and Tambourine" I just like his music..

    Hey Chris, the bottom bar was the Port Moresby hotel....better known as the Snake Pitt and the top bar which was divided by a lane way and the cinema, was known as the Papuan Hotel. If you turned left at the bottom of the street and hugged the coast line you'd end up at Pugga Hill

    It does seem likely to be highlands. The Catalina landed at Kikori, then a float plane took them up the river Barrakewa (apologies for spelling)., then choppers to the final destination. That is from brother, some places didn't have names. ce.

    PS I will ask my brother, he was older and may remember..There is nothing on the cine films. Which we had transferred 20 years ago .ce

    I have no idea. I was about 7 years old.I lived in a bungalow just below the start of the Kokoda trail.. My main worries were snakes and spiders. The "blowout" happened well upriver. Had to have been to the west of Port Morsby, He used Catalina, smaller Quantas float plane ,then helicopters to get to the site.!!!! I don't think anyone is alive anymore so it mightl be available in history books I guess.

    @Josh7510 . Hi Josh. I went to school at Ela and then walked over for a swim. I am the little one.58 years since I was there. ....Things I learnt there include avoiding jelly-fish and sea snakes. I doubt if I will get there again. Some nice comments over the years. Check on the other videos on my channel. cje49. A long ago neighbour was in touch years back. Funny how Sci-Fi ideas became reality. Best wishes.

    I'ts been a very long time since I was last on this beach. In fact I learnt to windsurf on this same strech of sand, think I drove my parents mad. I recall the pool, bowls club, rsl. The military band would play on the weekend. What wonderfull memories.

    @blackusa1 . No It is old software that was free to use. Pinnacle Studio editing in about 2002. Long out of date. I dare not say it but you can copy the video and extract the music. I am banned in Germany for use of Jan Gabareck music! ce

    @craigmancool It is a lifetime ago. It took weeks sometimes to get there.Catalinas, Smaller seaplanes, then boats. It must have been a nightmare at the time. I am not sure what goes on in that part of the world now

    flash point, vapor pressure...etc.. there are many conditions which must all be met to support combustion. it is why you can stand in a paint booth painting with highly volatile lacquer paint and a spark or even an open flame will not set off a fire. there has to be enough fuel but not too much, temperature must be right and humidity makes a big difference. The heat from any initial combustion can be absorbed by water vapor blocking any chain reaction.

  • @lostbuffalo
    @lostbuffalo 13 років тому

    I suspect the addition of water is to modify the flashpoint of the gas making it less susceptible to sparking off. any polymerization process (burning) requires a certain amount of input energy usually heat or shock to sustain a chain reaction. combustion will not continue if the heat given off by a critical event is not enough to sustain other reactions. basically...the fuel can put out the fire. it's a delicate balance like putting out a cigarrette in a pan of gas

    @MrRupw . Thanks MrR. Always had a soft spot For Ronnie Lane. I worked in the dim past as a Theatre Manager in London. Slim Chance recorded there before touring." Anymore for Anymore". I also still have a working video of the BBC Passing show! Maybe I should put the DVD on my Birthday wish list. Cheers CJE.

    @Kurdkalhor .Well it is almost 60 years ago these cines were taken. I get many messages from all over the world from Kurdish folk. Khanaqin has a website( that is often blocked) with some good photographs from 1911. I have a web friend in your area who sent photographs of the dry bed of the Alwand river as it passed under the famous bridge. I wish you well and your translating is better than mine!
