You should bring that to Petone in December for the club day
I'm so happy they recently gave Blue Peter one of these!
This is not Blue Peter’s whistle, why does everyone thinks that ..
@@jayyy3_yt295 Blue Peter has a 5 chime NZ whistle
@@jayyy3_yt295it’s probably because of the TV series.
@@jayyy3_yt295 she has 2 whistles her original bell whistle and this whistle which was given to her during the 80s
Sounds real great sound
I have a copy of this on VHS tape. Haven't watched it in years as no VHS tape player. Great to see it again. Shame Peco haven't done an update on dvd.
Didn't realise someone had already put this one up :p
Blast from the past, seen this a couple times. Hope you've got a good supply of Sundeala?? Thanks for uploading.
1:53 Awesome Australian Steam Railway Behind The Scenes Movie. Thanks Mate. X
Nice! 91-016 is going to the UK. :D
I wonder where it's going to run? That will be a real sight to see for sure!!!!
@@tacfoley4443 I don't know yet sorry.
Does anyone know what her horn is?
Australian locomotives were actually built in both British and American manufacturers. And the locomotives and rolling stock themselves were aesthetically both British and American designs.
In memory of... George Barlow (1916 - 2006) Sir William McAlpine (1936 - 2018).
Wow! Blast from my past! Thank you so much for posting!
Great I like this locomotive! Why here aren't any handrails?
Most GE (and EMD) export locomotives don't have full handrails unless that's required by the railway.
4wd do far more damage-note the king river is flushing now tailings dont go in it
King river is full of shit from Queenstown
old railway tracks make good walking tracks-very little of tasmania has been damaged by mining
the mining industry on the west coast-powered tasmania's future
It's a star brass/southern Pacific/union Pacific/china railways/nsw/nzr 5 chime
Your footage is AmaZinG... priceless... a time capsule...

The end of the 1980's and the demise of many of the classes of early diesels especially the English Electrics. I wonder if the museum at Ipswich will put the remaining locos from Redbank Museum on display? I've worked at least 4 of those engines in my time in Heritagr and ridden on the PB as a kid
What the meaning of 91-007? Is that about 7th 91? Like serial number as locomotives list? And it was GE UM6B after all :D
Yes 91-007 being the loco's running number. It was the 7th 91 Class, First being 91-001. Yes correct, GE UM6B
Interesting footage. I remember the lines of withdrawn 1250 class at Redbank very well. A great blast from the past for me. Thanks for sharing.
I. Think there is one at the railway museum and works to be restored
Thanks for sharing such a great piece of NZ rail history. I have such fond memories of the Da as a kid in Glen Eden, New Lynn and Taumarunui.....
great video , looking forward to running a loco there myself one day.
Passionate about this exceptional locomotive this video I like a lot. Thank you for making us travel in the cabin.
Thanks
I think you will find it was going to Dorset rather than Devon!
Right you are. Have edited.
Nice video!
LETS BRING IT BACK TO TASMANIA !
Poor Brian Naylor ( Narrator) and his wife Moiree perished in the "Black Saturday" bushfires at Kinglake in Victoria. The bush mill railway has closed and the engine is now permanently residing in the UK.
Brian Naylor was one of the most genuine guys in television. Yes so sad about him and his lovely wife in those horrific fires. I was working in emergency services in February 2009, and went to Kinglake, too late of course, and what a shambles with some police cars not being able to share radios etc. due to only being from the suburbs.Anyway I digress. Brian Naylor loved doing things for kids, especially disadvantaged ones. If only he knew at the time what a disgusting place Puffing Billy was, with pedophiles running rife there, kids lives being ruined forever, and Puffing Billy management, (of which some are now convicted pedophiles themselves), just sat back and ignored the complaints. Creeps.
Great video, thanks.
Great video, thanks.
Can't push the like button enough! Fantastic film. Thanks to all involved.
i guess im asking randomly but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Westley Clayton Instablaster :)
@Colten Hank thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Colten Hank it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D Thank you so much you saved my ass!
@Westley Clayton glad I could help :)
Nice one Caleb, and good job on the rebuild of that whistle. Do you know who were the original manufacturers of the NZGR whistles? Or were they designed and manufactured in-house?
struck2soon Thanks, there were a copy of a short bell Nathan we believe like SP had. the 3 big workshop that the NZGR had used to cast them, I have one set of the original patterns.
Caleb Scott you lucky man! If wasn't so damn heavy I would ask you to cast me one and bring it back to the UK with me next time I visit NZ. Then I could give it a blast and imagine I was on Kb968 heading over 'The Pass'... Thanks for the info.
Patterns require repair before they can be used again. One day I may be able to cast a batch.
Caleb, let me know if you do get there: I would love to hear the sound of of a 'K', 'J' or any other kiwi loco ringing out over North Yorkshire!
Thanks for sharing your video on your VR "G" class garratt , I've made a W.A.G.R. MSA class garratt in "N" scale which I have on my "locoman3801" channel plus there's plenty of other pics on my "Kev's Workshop" website if you wish to have a look?? , I hope that I can get myself another AD60 someday as my last 1 has gone missing back in 2012 ( believed "stolen" ) from out of my locked workshop , I've upgraded the security of my workshop since then.
This Video is great loved it when I last saw it is on VHS recording off Channel Nine Australias program our world in the 90's with this original narrator brain Naylor and film great to see it again.
Nice Video I subscribed.
These Original WC hayes Lights are so rare in New Zealand. Let alone Griswold Signal co Lights with bulb lamps.
Nice sounding whistle mate what are the chime lengths?
Will have to double check the drawings, it's the same as a Star Brass or SP Desert.
Star brass are 2-1/2, 3-1/2, 4-3/8, 5-1/2, 7-3/4 is that what they are?
NZR 2-3/8, 3-1/2, 4-3/8, 5-7/8, 7-7/8 so slightly larger.
They're Western-Cullen Hayes lights mounted on a Montrose Bracket. Kiwirail didn't start using Montrose Lights until they started using LED Lights.
bumer that 1805 doesn't have it's original pantograph but to see it running would make my day!
