We don't really hunt the general any bull hunts. All the open bull units are tough hunts with low numbers of elk and a lot of people. You might have better luck on the new areas that they opened up to general season last year, like the paunsagaunt. Also, the Uintas will have more elk. Good luck on your hunt, and let us know how it goes.

Yes, this year has been really really bad so many people everywhere and with our limited time made it really tough year for us for sheds. Everywhere we had planned had already been cleaned out by the time we was able to get in there.

7mm rem mag, with 180 grain berger bullets

@@DoubleBeamOutdoors handloads? I have a 7RemMag that I loaded the 168 Berger VLDs, Retumbo with excellent success. This was before Berger even made the 7mm 180. When the 180 became available I couldn't get it to shoot near as well. My Krieger barrel has a 9 twist so I don't think that should be an issue.

Yes, they are hand loads. Sometimes you need to try different powders if that is the bullet you want to shoot. This gun was grouping really well.

It was alright, just depends on the unit. It was pretty nice cause alot of the bulls were still rutting and bugling, but the unit we were hunting has gone down hill the last couple years so there wasn't as many high quality bulls.

@@DoubleBeamOutdoors Yep, Pahvant started going downhill over a decade ago. I am looking at hunting either Beaver late rifle or San Juan muzzleloader this year. I've toyed with the mid rifle season, but the number of people concerns me, but you do get a crack at the bulls before late rifle hunters.

We've never hunted closer to milford. I think there are less elk that way, but there are always some over there.
