I know I'm 1 year late to this, but this is exactly how i'd rewrite the whole arc. Tbh this should have been the ending, Desti had so much potential but she was used mostly for the Anime arc. Wren in Western Spaghetti at least used his time perfectly by basically being the best SMG4 villain so far

No question, this is what should’ve happened in the main timeline. Desti’s death was sad, but made no sense since the characters have regularly shaken off worse hits then a simple stab through the stomach. Including Desti. But, If she was faking it to motivate Meggy, or at the very least died and got better like they normally do, it would’ve made more sense within the universe on top of giving us Meggy’s character arc. More so…this animation is just really good.

According to my prediction, Mario somehow remembered there were 1UP mushrooms in the mushroom kingdom. He then remembered that fatful moment Desti got stabbed by Sephiroth's knife. He decided to use the opportunity to swim out to sea, find Desti's grave, open it, insert the 1UP mushroom into her mouth, and bada bing, bada boom, Desti came back to life! Meggy and Desti continued to life their lives. Meggy told the whole story to Desti regarding the racial treatment Meggy has gotten, feeling bad, Desti decided she wanted to become a human so she could live a life of her own with Meggy. Eventually, Desti goes to E-gadd's lab and asks him to remove all of her ink. Without a follow-up question, E-gadd removes all of the ink from Desti, thus making her a human. Then Meggy and Desti travel to inkopolis to spite the racist inklings in their loser faces. Meggy plays dead as Desti yells at the racist inklings. Then they travel back to the mushroom kingdom to live their own lives the best they can as they deal with Mario and Bob's antics, argue with Peach, and hang out with the girls. (Plz make this a video)

I loved Desti alot and I really like this alternate ending but through all the people saying the prefer this, it would've meant that all the character development would be for nothing
