20 Questions for Dr Alastair Macfadyen
RSCDS i pray thee put up video chapters for each dance 🙏🙏🙏
Great explaining!
We did these dances at school (Northumberland) but at more of a skipping pace than that sedate walking.
Is "saunta" close to the foxtrot? Can't find the explanation of "saunta" as a dance anywhere.
Rondel explanation starts at 28:56
Wonderful to watch.😊
Хорошо, когда всем хорошо.
Great compendium.
Should have added that I love the video and only wish I could still dance like them!😢
Anybody can. It’s really easy. We used to do all these at school if it was too rainy to do PE outdoors.
I get the pun, but in case anyone is interested, the words to the song are, “Step we gaily, on we go, heel for heel and toe for toe” etc.!
So lovely to watch. I danced with Stirlingshire Branch in the early 80s. Betty Geary I think was the teacher. Nancy Wightman was the secretary. I stayed with the Wightmans on Melville terrace. Many many happy memories
Written of an old Dane !
What a leg and flot workshop ! I is reel wonderfull.
Fantastic......a new series of video's of SDB's.Have been waiting for years on this.I myself ve been listening since the late 50s to the 3 times a week half an hour SDM on BBC Scottish Home Service, later BBC RS.All this still on the 810 MW(a weak transmission, must be said) Not just SDB's were popular, but on the monday night programme "Music On The Move"the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra(leader Dennis McConnel, conducted by Jack Leon) were great. Those were the times.I am still searching for their material they played(lots of GOW arrangements).Has there beenan LP of them? Just like Archie Duncan's Quintet (Allegro label)
merveilleux !
Almost 47 years later, utterly thrilling - to watch, to listen to.
Lol. We’re a weird bunch.
Scottish Country Dancers should in turn do their best to support Furlongs?
Do they still organise SCD holidays? I've not seen them advertise anywhere.
Almost twelve years since I discovered the manifold delights of Scottish Country Dancing (at St Columba's, Pont Street, London). So, why have I not seen this marvellous video before??
Wonderful record.
Splendid.
Macrae & Dick'll do the trick when your broken down on Struie!

great overview video
Love this.
Superbe vidéo ! Que de gaité et de bonne humeur avec ces danses !
Very interesting indeed. If I may suggest, add the relevant time stamps for the various sections, so it is easier to refer to them
Wonderful. So sad two years without Summer School
👌👍
Thank you very much for this nice and useful lesson!

Fabulous lady!!
Omg, how many of these dances, and which ones, would one need to go to a Scottish dance event? We have a strong Scottish society here in the San Francisco Bay Area, but no way can I learn all these dances!
Thank for you comments and I hope you found the video useful. You may find the dances shown on "Step We Ceilidh" ua-cam.com/video/IfZHXhxDmZM/v-deo.html more suitable for your needs. Happy Dancing!
Thanks so much for posting this!
