Only just discovered this. Remember distinctly when this song came out, a DJ proclaimed that if Chas and Dave lost there accents, they'd be great! I was a kid at the time and loved the guys. Of course, it is a great song as your version proves. Years later, reading biographies of other artists, Chas and Dave cropped up in line-ups of various earlier bands who toured far and wide, and it took them to form the duo to resort to singing in their own accents.
