With the green, it looked like you were trying to achieve a dry-brushing effect, and for that, I would just recommend putting a tiny pit of paint on the brush and then getting a paper towel and making the brush appear to be dry, and THEN paint the tree. That was it will brush over just the top and wont get in the grooves, and you'll have a much cleaner result. (Not sure if you wanted my dumb advice, but you got it.)

No no no you have to add white first for the base and let it dry. Then when it is dry you can put the green so it can show more. After that you can add some details and shading to the tree. Then, THATS when you put the glitter
