    Good day friend, what a good video, could you make one for me, how much would you charge me? I paid the shipping to Mexico, could you?

    This is a great diy idea for motorised slider but it will cost me $136 after adding all the components. I can buy a ready made for $160 with warranty. Don't get me wrong and you did a great job.

    I followed your instructions and everything works great, except at low speeds. the movement is not fluid, it could improve with a tl smooter like this: www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07GR5SNNG/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=3414&creative=21718&creativeASIN=B07GR5SNNG&linkCode=as2-21&tag = eb21b7e7e1c9f9e4022f04c599eb3421 thanks.

    Hey. Thanks for your video. I just ordered the parts. When powering up the controller it just shows a 8. Motor does not turn. Maybe you have any Idee? Thanks!

      Gavin Taylor Photography & Films thanks for your reply. I think the controller does have some Problems. I will Order a new one. It does Not move the Motor.

    Hi, I noticed that this post was two years ago, but I found it most reliable and the end result is most achievable solution on youtube DIY slider. Thanks for the wonderful work. I went ahead and bought the all components as listed, hopefully I can get the same result/performance as it was really easy when watch you do it. Thanks

    At last!! Thanks so much for this - I have been looking at so many of these sorts of DIY sliders and they all seem to involve Arduinos, rotary encoders, LCD displays and all of the associated programming headaches. This looks like it will do exactly what I want and can be easily set up by someone with the limited skills I possess. Parts ordered! Thanks again for sharing this.

      @@mrxgavin1 Well, I made this and it worked great ... for a few minutes. After a while the small chip on the back of the PCB gets massively hot and the stepper motor only runs intermittently - on for a second, off for a second and so forth.

      @@mickymazda1 hi it is does get warm but only used it for short periods then switch off to save batteries so never got that hot for me to notice it sorry not sure about the stepper motor as mine worked very well as on the video tested it again and no issues not too sure what it might be maybe check the connections hope it works thanks

      @@mrxgavin1 I want to build this also. I am not an engineer; you are using a stepper motor rated at 12v but supplying only 4.5 volts (3 AA batteries in series = 4.5v). Is it possible that is why the overheating is occurring?

    • @jonnylakewood7767
      @jonnylakewood7767 5 років тому

      My mistake! The battery case is 3v, not 3 AA batteries. Much less than 4.5v. I think that is a problem.

  • @georgemuresan893
    @georgemuresan893 5 років тому

    Thank you very much for the ideas presented. It seems to me the simplest and most advanced method. That's why I ordered the parts. Still, it seems to me that at the last shot at the slider's slowest pace there is a rhythmic braking movement, probably because the plastic tape touches the slider easily, but after seeing more videos with stepper motors I think that at the slowest speed, the engine itself is jerking...

  • @davidanderson4705
    @davidanderson4705 5 років тому

    Nice build. I built one similar to this a year or so ago. I used a cheap long slider like yours and built a pan tilt head with a few additional parts. vimeo.com/253331349

    Very ingenious! What about the motor noise, is it noisy? Does the board overheat when being used extensively? Cheers!

    • @mrxgavin1
      @mrxgavin1 5 років тому

      The noise is very little at the low speeds I would say it does not really effect me as I am filming products and add in sound and the board does not really heat up at all
