Storm footage from the central Kentucky area as well as videos of other interests of mine as in Crystal collection, Mines, Ham Radio anything really LOL Enjoy... If your expecting extreme weather videos you will be dissapointed as this is Kentucky.. we do get some but its normally typical severe kinda stuff...

Severe storms broke out today in the Lexington area. I decided to do a little local chase on my day off.. did get into some severe winds early on but that was about the bulk of it as it moved off to fast. Originally shot as Facebook live stream.

07/01/2024 Lexington Fire Dept responded to the Veridian Apartments on Armstrong mill road for a structure fire. during the battle the order to evacuate was given which is where this video starts. On the evening of Friday May 10 an extreme geomagnetic storm took place just after 10 pm edt. this triggered northern lights seen well beyond Florida. was a G5 storm that gave us an amazing display here in lexington ky.

Bad you didn't have mics on so its hard for my to understand what the instructor says. Very nice and interresting video. The Boy ist so lucky . EDIT: The automaticly created subs are working well. Maybe youtubes voice reader can filter out the engine sound and everything. I am happy i understand more now. Please let the boy drive more often with more cams and better sound setup. I love when young kids have interest in technik and specially in old stuff. they all should get a chance to ride one of this. sorry my english is bad.

Let's get our train terminology correct - the person that sits in the driver's seat (at the controls) in the locomotive is the engineer. He/She is assisted by a conductor

I’m pretty sure anybody would know that!😂 but I’m gonna be the nicest engineer so that was a bit of practice just driving it!
And i shocked the engineer about everything i knew so im pretty sure i got my train terminology correct?

My dad showed me the train he worked on back in 1970. Will never forget that. Kids having lots of fun.
This is a COOL KID right here!!! I'd like to just ride on an old steam engine before I die. But trains of any type are just cool.

Go to a like rail museum if you have one in your state or if you like traveling go to a different state to go to a different rail museum

Just for context I try to reply to y’all’s comments cause I was the kid in the video! But I did love this moment and I will never forget it. The crew were super friendly to me and treated me like I was a very important part to the operation of the whole thing! The conductor was my favorite guy he gave me a tour of the locomotive shop and let me on the front of the locomotive while it was moving and he told me “ I usually don’t let people do it. But you are special your a vip” his exact words very awesome people and I give respect for there volunteering when they don’t have to!

I saw myself in that young fellow. Made me remember my first cab ride on the Central Vermont between Palmer and White River Jct, VT and back when I was 16 years old. And then the first time an engineer put me in the seat to run.
Kid gets to piot a 3000 HP locomotive and can't leave his phone alone.
He was recording a hugely important exciting moment to treasure. Get a life

How can they see in the direction the train is going when it's going backwards?
If you listen the guy on the radio is calling out markers as they go.. he's on the back car of the train telling the driver where that side of the train is . And would mention any obstructions on the track
@@K4SWX Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering if this was a vintage locomotive. I was looking for something like a rear view video like a dashcam. Sorry I'm getting up in years and can't make out what's being said on the radio. (One reason I'm no longer active in ham radio -- yes I recognized that you have a ham call. I'm in VE7 land)

@@K4SWX I looked it up to see photos of the GP8. Similar shape to the Baldwin locomotives that CP Rail used on Vancouver Island(Esquimalt & Nanaimo) decades ago. They were used between 1949 and 1975.
