    Thanks so much for the video. I just purchased you're patterns. They are really good but I'm way more of a visual learner so I need to see things being done before I can actually follow a pattern. So this helped so much as I was doing it wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️

      This one is an odyssey hook from furls crochet. Unfortunately, this specific hook was discontinued. I believe they were looking for another manufacturer to continue the line, but I don't think they have one yet. They do carry other hooks (I like the alpha line, but it's very expensive. Some people really like the streamlines, which are more affordable)

    • @KickinCrochet
      @KickinCrochet 4 місяці тому

      Tunisian crochet you pick up all the loops on the forward pass, then work them all off on the return pass. You are basically working half of every stitch then finishing them all instead of working one stitch at a time.

    • @KickinCrochet
      @KickinCrochet 5 місяців тому

      This one might be a little big for a clutch as it is about 12" wide, but you could use a thinner yarn/smaller hook, or just stop making the square when it gets to whatever size you'd like...

    • @KickinCrochet
      @KickinCrochet 5 місяців тому

      Hi! Each square is about 12 inches (1 foot) wide, so it depends on what you want to do with it. If you want a blanket, you'll want to make multiple squares and then sew them together. I've seen people make pillows, bags, and even shirts from these squares!

I believe I will try holding my yarn forward as you did but, picking up the stitch with a downward stroke. It may be too tight or it may work nicely to keep stiches closer together. Either way, thanks so much for your tutorials......I happened here because of the beautiful Jasmine Stitch.

    Thanks so much for the clear explanation! I’ve seen these techniques in other videos, but wasn’t entirely clear on what each term referred to. Now that I can match the terms to the techniques, it’ll be easier to think about them and figure out which one to use when! I’m about to embark on a more ambitious color work project than I’ve ever done before, so wish me luck. If all goes well, a friend’s kid is gonna have the most awesome baby blanket ever made 😄

    • @red.maned.unicorn
      @red.maned.unicorn 7 місяців тому

      Btw, I don’t know if it even has a name, but I’ve seen and used a technique that’s sort of a hybrid between stranding and tapestry. You have a float, but catch it every 3rd stitch (or 2nd, or 5th, or whatever makes sense for the project). You’re more or less breaking a long float up into several smaller ones. It keeps long floats under control by tacking them to the wrong side, and it’s less visible than tapestry on the right side. Just another option that can come in handy.

    • @KickinCrochet
      @KickinCrochet 7 місяців тому

      Good luck with your upcoming project! I hope it works out beautifully! And yes you can definitely catch floats in stranded colorwork - it makes it much easier to keep good tension, especially for wearables!

    This is a very good book but is not what I expected, this book should be SPIRAL BOUND, I just finished making my book into a "notebook" as this makes it easier to flip through and does not close when looking through and trying to read the info( it should have been SPIRAL BOUND), I also tabbed some of the pages so certain things would be easier to find...Toni is a wonderful and fabulous designer and crocheter, love her enthusiasm....she is remarkable!!!

    I love this pattern... but I am new and this video is WAY WAY too fast. Plus you can't really see what is being done. Maybe zoom in more or use a contrasting color behind what you are working on. I will come back to this when I have become more experienced, but for now I can't follow this. I will come back though... maybe next craft night at church someone can show me what is being done because I love this.

    I love to learn something new and I love a challenge, it's the only way we make progress. Thank you for the tutorial.

    The pattern is really lovely! <3 Can I ask how much yarn is required to make a single square and what does one square measure in size?
