I have a lot to say on this, but luckily, unlike everybody else in my life, you get to choose whether or not you want to hear it. Footage Used: Supernatural, Killing Eve, The Owl House, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Community, Steven Universe. Those iconic images of Cas and Dean: redbuddi.tumblr.com/post/634017645535084544/like-if-you-cry-every-time
Nah i don't see it as a two way thing anymore because it's not it's more Castiel loves Dean because whenever it's mentioned to Sam and Dean they both get awkward then ignore it like they're in super denial. Belthazar said "You have me confused with the other angel. You know the one with the dirty trench coat whose in love with you?" to Crowley and Meg always teasing about Castiel being called a toy boy to Dean is Castiel's boyfriend, and Meg said "don't look at me, he was your boyfriend first". One of the last ones was Metatron who said "And now after a rousing speech his true weakness is revealed. He's in love, with humanity" and he has a word with him again about Cas's real goal is wanting to save Dean Winchester lol. Like it's always jokes about being one way that it's how Castiel feels. Any possessiveness from Dean i think it's because of his tendency to form codependent attachments because of his abandonment issues. Plus Castiel isn't male or female there was a scene in season 4 or 5 somewhere with Cas explaining how angels identify as male or female or some of the other angels are different and identify as nether so it's just that Castiel feels love he's not Bi or Gay. I always thought it was intentional Cas is different because so is Sam and Dean and they always made shows specifically with characters that are different i mean to defy heaven and do what's different to the other angels and to question like that's different. So i think that's also the clue that Cas is one of the second group of angels neither male or female. You've rarely heard any character actually say "he" too it's usually Cas or Castiel sometimes Dean has said "man" though when ending a sentence or "dude" and then from season 10 i think they either forgot Cas is nether sexual orientation or just gave up trying so hard because Sam and Dean say "he" a lot more often. I think that's why they portrayed the "confession" scene the way they did as Castiel saying they love Dean, like they thought they were going to be dead for good so Cas was like "the hell with it i'm going to confess my undying love". However they made it seem totally platonic because it's clear The CW wasn't down with this sort of thing they weren't in their other shows either so they didn't let them get too "gay" about it and it's no surprise with the way our world has been going and the intolerance of anyone who is different. Also i think they just went with what Metatron said too the way they did the "confession" scene "And now after a rousing speech his true weakness is revealed" because that's exactly what Castiel did a rousing speech to reveal they actually love Dean although yeah it totally sucked. They totally just went with the easiest way to end things rather than the best way like all shows were doing for a while and i really hate the cameras they switched to it's so blurry and they're way too close to their faces it's just all felt off since season 11 onwards. The thing is though they took Cas for granted too much because they felt powerful they have an actual angel on their side so Sam and Dean were using Cas and the first time Cas says "Your my family, i love you" the look on Dean's face he felt freaking horrible. It wasn't because Dean somehow loved Cas and it hit some kind of love nerve it's because they were using Castiel just to protect themselves because it's ALL about Sam and Dean and you can't forget that part and how selfish they are lol. Always keeping each other alive no matter who gets hurt or dies just sacrifice themselves at their alter. Castiel is super naive they get less so as the show goes on but before that scene and they all started to get a lot closer they were so totally using Cas, although they still kind of were right until the very end because they still took Cas for granted especially Dean but Castiel still didn't mind because they love Dean so much and they weren't all that bad. I think one of the reasons Dean crumbled like that at the end of the "confession" scene with his hands in his head like that is because they do share a deep bond, but he was totally in denial that Cas was in love with him no matter how many times the other angels told him even if deep down they knew. Because they were too busy using him for their own survival still taking advantage of his naivety, and now i think it finally hit Dean with Cas actually telling him they love him how damn selfish he's been and really he didn't entirely deserve so much unconditional love Castiel has given him and no he doesn't nether does Sam really. With how they were brought up and abused by their dad John though it was all such a complicated confusing mess that i don't know if they entirely realized what they were doing like i always feel they know how selfish they're being but on the other hand i feel they're also oblivious they're being so selfish. We can see this with all the things the angels say and Rowena going "oh always the bloody winchesters" and whenever they asked for her help she's reminded them several times she's not going to get herself killed and sacrifice herself for them (although alas they end up making rowena do that anyway) they're also totally oblivious. Which is signs of an abusive upbringing because they kind of take on some of those abusive behaviors like being in denial about things and contradictory behaviors. In terms of character progression they never progressed them too much and never intended to so seeing things completely clear now i just don't read into anything after season 3 now because it's a different show after that and just the same thing we're all surprised it went on for 15 years. So nah they never would've got Cas to confess his love for Dean right until the very end plus i guess it wouldn't make sense to because they practically kept the drama going on Sam and Dean's codependent selfish relationship. After Kripke left and handed Supernatural off after season 5 they were really just milking the show. But i dunno i think now i see it it's quite interesting how they made Sam and Dean so in denial about Cas being in love with Dean and i guess it was different actually being more realistic with it by making them take advantage of Castiel lol although it was sick and i also hate them for being so selfish which frequently gets in my nerves but it's sadly what humans would actually do.
There really wasn't a lot you could do with Sam face it lol he was kind of boring although i think they could've made him a bit more interesting if they got Rowena to train him as a witch like totally missed opportunity. It was all about Sam and Dean's codependent relationship throughout the show really that more sounds a married couple especially with Benny in season 8. Sam "It depends on you. On whether or not you're DONE with him"😂😬and then whenever they get to a location in Baby it's hard to believe they don't hear it's thunderous rumbles beside the building. It's so bad omg! and the dialog is super dumb how it always ends up back into a fight like a married couple with Dean trying to guilt and make excuses but ultimately they end up being hypocrites towards each other. But i always found it sad how they felt it was always okay to make Dean treat Sam that way, and they're both really selfish but god Dean is really truly selfish because of how Dean doesn't let Sam live his life and constantly guilts and blames him for things because he can't be alone with himself at all. I mean it's different to anything else that's been done but i don't like the message it sends that somehow it's totally normal and okay to act like this. They had no intention of really truly evolving the characters though Kripke doesn't stay with a show he writes and directs for more than 5 seasons but after season 3 there wasn't much evolving with how selfish they were because they were using this to constantly keep up the "Sam and Dean are so special and everyone should sacrifice for them" thing over and over again and Sam and Dean's codependent relationship. It's all they had to keep it going but just like with The X-Files that Supernatural is kind of based on i just feel it was kind of X-Files 2.0 and they just wanted to keep it repetitive and the same after season 5 because really Kripke was done with the story and i don't think he likes to spend more than 5 years on any project he does, so it was about milking it after that and the codependent relationship and the selfishness was how they chose to keep it going. It's nothing more than a fun supernatural hunting show the real story is in seasons 1 to 3. I think you're seeing a lot about the show with complete clarity though because yeah it's definitely insane the codependent relationship Dean keeps sucking Sam back into i think it's questionable and i don't like it either it was just what Kripke wanted it to be who has questionable tastes in horror and gore and he likes gothic horror books. Some episodes they made like the guy that was a deranged serial killer to the one when they found their brother Adam dead and eaten eww... i will never be watching those episodes ever again. Did someone have a kink we don't know about? a lot of questions. I think it's pretty true to reality that you either act like parents who were controlling and go onto trying to control others or you keep trusting and running into the arms of those who want to control you. Totally true because it's all you know and you completely internalize it so i guess they wanted to be real about that, but most people would eventually break out of that eventually after so many times of being hurt. So it's clear it was kept going purely so they could keep making a tv show they wouldn't have a story if it was just Dean though so they just made it that Sam was codependent on Dean too and let him be guilted so they could always have a story that's all there is to it really, it feels forced because it is. Yes Dean always getting to choose it is on purpose because he's always the one who has to protect Sam he feels a constant responsibility to protect him so he keeps putting himself on the line, although he did let Sam choose a few times like doing Gods Trials but all other times Dean felt he had to make the sacrifice because he feels like he's nothing without his brother. Apparently It was all because of how God wrote their life but i choose to forget that story arc because it sucks and they never really chose to make it that way until season 11 onwards. Before that it was always portrayed that they were doing everything of their own accord and this is their life, god was nowhere in the picture even after they introduced him as Chuck The Prophet we saw the Supernatural Books strangely telling them events of their life that would happen before it did. But they started acting of their own accord too sooo they were making their own choices *shrug* I think the God Story Arc was just simply a means to an end and making it seem God made everything in their life happen was what they chose to go with after season 10, and that's all they felt they had to give them an easy "ending". They never truly start to revisit the God Story Arc until season 11 onwards apart from season 9 with the whole Metatron thing but still no idea of where it was really going. But most people don't go that far like season 10 at most so it's easily forgettable and not a story arc we have to go with.
I swear some of you can't just enjoy something and not try to make it about something else. If anything it's a commentary on how many groups go about obtaining their perceived goals. Not caring for the possible consequences or those that are hurt along the way. So tell me why we're focusing on whether or not someone's gay?
•Light only like people that bend to his Will and not deviate from his plans. If people don’t bend to his and deviate from his plans he gets rid of them. Except for Misa. Misa has plot armor. •Light: Depressed when doing things he finds boring and tedious. Upbeat when doing things he loves. Quick to anger. Mood swings. Difficulty regulating emotions. Hormones out of control. Not use to being told no. Puts too much pressure on himself. Needs mental health evaluation. Too proud to ask for help. Does not want to dishonor his family. Can’t get love and validation from father.
Light is so EXTREMELY queer coded to me. It’s there. In the original text, outside of any shipping context. I’ve read the manga cover to cover probably a dozen times now and this reading of Light is VALID. Light is a deeply traumatized gay kid in Japan who killed his own heart and became an expert liar to be the son his father wanted him to be. And this trauma is in fact exactly what set him up to be so successful as Kira. It’s dark, it’s ironic, it’s fucking painful. But it’s there.
1:42 Me, I'm the one that cares about Mikami
Sam is in temperament a lot more like John. That’s why they butt heads so much. Sam is just like John after Jess dies, obsessed with the demon. But Sam pulls it back because he has Dean. He’s angry at John for caring more about the demon but ultimately John gives his life to save his kid knowing he’s going to hell. And he never breaks. People can dislike John all the like but he had good things about him too. Look at Souless Sam for a moment. He’s calculating, putting Dean in danger to gain more information etc. Now look at Donatello being souless and he isn’t really very different from when human for the most part. Codependent or not Sam can detach from his family dynamic and function in an independent normal life. But Dean couldn’t. It would have ended with Dean dead from lack of taking care of himself , alcohol or something. But I think over time Sam changed. He didn’t want that picket fence, the dog etc. when Dean dies Sam can and does pick up and go on, just as he always could. And that’s ok. What’s not ok is the bad wig they gave old Sam.
4:39 i live in Floridia so i have an attic
I haven’t even watched this show. I just sat in on some episodes while my sister was watching it. That nigga light gay as hell.
I love sam, he is my favorite.
17:42 Dean supporting Trump would be based asf. Also, what's wrong with him supporting someone with different political views? It's not like he is real🤷🏽
If Adrien had been the protagonist, they would’ve had to bump the rating up to TV-14 solely for the trauma in that family 💀
Yes
A HELL WORSE THAN HELL YAYYYYYYY KILLED ME
L has a deep disdain for light, so does near but to a greater extent. It is also said that L doesn't view light as a friend, only as an interesting enemy. The same would go for Light. He also did not kill L to proof that his ideals about justice are correct, he did it completely out of boredom and the fact that the death note Was something that excited him, which got him into that mess to begin with.
Great a left leaning modern day woman has to ruin more stuff for me
This idea of sub context has always existed. It isn’t a fact but an observation and a hypothesis of a fictional character’s identity. Such an idea should not detract your interest from the character.
It isn't canon Please let it rest
I really LOVE LAWLIGHT and I agree with the fact that there is a strong bond with each other since they can be at the same level of intelligence and deduction as the other. BUT I have another deduction... IT'S TRUE that Ohba doesn't know how to write women my god... The only character that I loved and I thinks is well writed is Naomi Misora but she dies :(( Anyway, as I was saying... It kind of remind me the dynamics the greeks had: they said that the true love and partnership comes from men to men love. And that women was only for reproduction... And that there was nothing more stronger than the bond between two men. SAYING ALL THIS... Anilyzing the series and both characters I've came to the conclusion that I think they are both, L and Light, asexuals. Don't get me wrong, I can sense the tension between this two and the scene when L is massaging Lights feet (I know it's a christian reference BUT THE CHRISTIAN REFERENCE IS JESUS CLEANING JUDAS FEET, NOT MASSAGING THEM?!) is really queer coded, I can deny it. But I think that if I have to be objective and not putting my love for this ship in between, I am pretty sure they are both asexuals. That's it, that's all I wanted to say.
mikami x light canon??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Dean eating Junkfood was to pander to the audience. "Dean is like us, her likes Junkfood!" You can't have a Body like Jenssen Acjkles without eating healthy. From a Hunter's Perspektive the sane: They NEED to be psysically superior and that requires eating healthy. All the alcohol and FastFood is just Pandering to the broadest audience possible. The average consumer
Watching it as an adult: It seems to be written for children. Sometimes it's so du mmb that it hurts. And all the over the top stereotypes, the goofyness. I still like the first seasons but I have to go into my 20 year old mindset to enjoy this. 22 year old me just thinks that it says a lot of negative things about society when something so dumb is so sucessfull.
arent they like 7 years apart in age
The way I like to read the later seasons is that at some point probably around or soon after s8 sam after having every even slightly "selfish" decision he's ever made for himself blow up in his face decides that fighting for himself and what he wants isn't worth it anymore and it's just easier to not rock the boat and let Dean (or whoever) stear this ship instead he resigns himself to become the role of "Sammy winchester one half of the dynamic duo" instead of further discovering who Sam is because all him trying to break free of his role in the narrative has done is get people good people killed. However despite him giving up on his own autonomy choice as a concept is still very important to him inherently. And my favorite example of this is Sam's defense of castifer. The entire time he knows Cas said yes he is going up to bat for him. Him and dean fight several times on the matter and Sam despite everything he went through with Lucifer defends cas. Because cas made a decision for what to do with his own vessel to give them a better chance at defeating Amara sam understands why cas did it and despite being the reason the devil walks free sam never holds it against cas because cas made his decision a decisions that gave them their best shot and sam wanted to use that because that what cas would have wanted he trys that entire arc to respect cas's choice. And we see this several other times him fighting in defense of other's right to express free will while simultaneously not acting on his own a lot of the time Anyway that's how I like to read the later seasons. I find them more interesting that way but that might be a me thing anyway great video you brought up some really good points that I completely agree with
no, Light is not gay, he is asexual
You say the ship could've been great while showing dean stab cas is awfully perfect
I loved the video!!! On a side note, I watched one episode of Death Note when I was ten and immediately dropped it (I might actually like it now, but, y'know, I was ten) because I didn't like how cocky Light seemed to be. I was like, "if you're so bored and insanely intelligent, go actually try to learn something new. You'll be just as much of a beginner as everyone else." Glad to find out I wasn't wrong that he was nutters.
You spent too much time reading fujoshi tumblr posts, lol.
At least adrien got the attention he deserved in the fandom TBH if he was the main protagonist the show would've been much more interesting and could have connected with different age groups and people but now it can't decide wether it is a kids show or a messed up romance cause i mean why would kids be interested in a love square🤷 Not to mention adrien is a much more stronger character The only reason marrinette is the main protagonist is because they wanted a female hero feminism and stuff Ive watched fanfics of MLB and they are wayyyyy better in everything
Wish that his life as a civilian was expanded on. I mean Gabriel could’ve made outfits and perfumes based on akumatized villains and heroes
I always knew Lighr was gei, I mean he only used woman for his gain but not because he “likes” them. He doesn’t find women attractive since he doesn’t show signs of interest, he might be asexual? Nshhh he’s def has something for L
I agree. Adrien is legit set up in every way to be the Main Protagonist. If the Writers had wanted Marinette to fill that role instead, they should have given her some deeper connection to Master Fu or they should have background-swapped her and Adrien.
Have Sabine be the daughter of Fu or the previous Ladybug
YAOI!!!! <3
WHERE CAN I WATCH THE MUSICAL IN ENGLISH R AT LEAST WITH THE SONGS IN ENGLISH
2 characters: *Exist.* The internet:
if you at least watched half of the video you'd know that's not the case.
Seriously people? It’s not romanse.
I think Sam deserved the opportunity to be a real villain. I want to watch him crack under the pressure of everything put upon him. I want to watch him be terrifying!
Im pretty sure Death Note was a direct commentary on Japanese culture with a focus on figures like the cult leader who causes all the murders. I've seen the writer talk about it but dont remember whwre.
Ljght and L are both clearlt ace
Yknow when light told near that he was not L's equal and didn't deserve to stand where he stood, at first it was cathartic and i agreed. It felt like he was finally addressing how i felt about a really shallow and uninteresting character. But in retrospect, maybe that scene was meant to be ironic and show that light could say the exact same thing to himself.
I am " Cas Dean and Sam " are his dad's 100% and funnily enough literally everything applies to me LMAO, I'm very much just whatever I say is canon to me and that's what matters. I'm having a party in my head and I am insane
6:45 the execution of this has me SOBBING LMAO
Castiel is my gay autistic angel and I will say it with my full chest
just the foundation of their relationship is intense and depressing as hell, they would've made an incredible love story
I haven't even watched the anime, I'm just here after the musical. Perhaps the most homoerotic show I've ever seen without any outright gay characters. Light/L is a great Enemies to Lovers (at least in the musical) of two people being obsessed with each other, understanding each other better than anyone else, lamenting that they have to give up their connection for one of them to win.
It’s been three years since this video was made and it STILL stands true. With the end of season 5, Amelie is back as well as Natalie, plus the fact that Felix, Kagami, and Marinette now also know that Adrien is a (implied) sentimonster and he doesn’t know himself. With amount of power of the Family rings that gave him, and he doesn’t even know it! Someone HAS to tell him and this will hopefully give him more depth and screentime
Also sam ALWAYS trusts dean until the gladreel thing. The only time he keeps stuff from dean is after dean goes to hell for him.. its when he is worried what he has to say will make his brother do somthing drastic. He literally has ptsd connected to being able to have self agency.. so while its not always the correct decision (i mean. He isnt actually able to control when he sees the future so that is a thing). Poor sammy.
NO WONDER SAM DIDNT WANT HIS DAMN SOUL BACK :P
Am I 3 years late? Yes. But I still have a comment. XD I'll be honest...I'm not a big fan of Sam. Never was. I always found Dean and his story to be much more interesting. But I do like the idea that Sam's Lack of Agency is a full on through line, though I don't think it was intentional. IF it was something planned, it makes sense. It was clear Sam was the very sheltered younger brother. Dean always kept him SAFE. Dean did what he could to give Sam as much of a normal life as possible. Sam was the one who managed to run away from Dean, who had a normal thanks giving with a nice family (If you remember the episode when they first went to heaven) The sad fact is, overtly sheltering one kid often takes away allot of agency away from that kid. Dean has a sense of agency, because he was forced to make hard choices and be a parent TO SAM from a very early age, and Sam followed those decisions because, Dean was left in charge. So if it was thought out and that had been a prominent response to Sam's upbringing, where until leaving to go to college and picking up once Jess died, where he wasn't the one making a choice, falling into controlling relationships, etc. It would have been fascinating to actually explore. Unfortunately, like a lot of Supernatural, I suspect it was the writers not knowing what to do with him and so they took away his agency to focus more on Dean. Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to get that off my chest. XD
**sees title** yes yes yes, very good, excellent point
This is a tangent but I’m so glad to find another person with a bone to pick with how good omens is handled Equating genitals (fluidity) with gender (identity fluidity) and giving absolutely no indication your characters aren’t gay men in love whilst benefiting from never confirming they are is not a victory of acespec/gender fluid representation
ophelia i dig your opinions. see what i did there?
Going the be thinking about the basement metaphor forever now thank you for rewiring my brain
There's a difference in Father and Dad. Father is the sperm donor, Dad is the male that raises the child. In this instance, I'd say Sam is Jack's Dad because Sam was the first to have an actual conversation with him and show concern for him. Dean was still on the fence even when Castiel came back into the picture, in fact, Dean was the last of the three to accept Jack. So, Sam, Cas, and then Dean, because Dean waited until he knew Jack was dying before showing any love. Sam was first because Cas was "dead". Then Cas.
